Ideas what to do with £500.00?

I have been saving up and have got about £500, Its from birthdays getting paid for doing a job etc. I was going to spend it on some jewellery/gadget but tbh I have enough of these things.
My philosophy on life is that we are here to make as many memories as we can with our loved ones, so with that in mind I would like to spend it on "doing something" or "going somewhere" with my o/h. We have a car and live in North Yorkshire right by the sea, we also have passports and are in our mid 40's with 2 adult children. So I was wondering if you had about £500 to spend on "doing/going" something what would you spend it on.
I know this thread is about money saving so I really would like to get the most out of this £500.00 and make some lovely memories at the same time.

It depends on what your interests/likes are. For me I'd spend the money on going to a gig or festival because I love that sort of thing.
Others would think that's a waste of money!
What sort of thing do you both like? £500 could get you a city break if there's somewhere you haven't been but always wanted to go (Paris, Rome, Prague, Amsterdam etc)Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
I just thought if I asked on here it would be nice to see what everyone else would like to do with it and maybe get some ideas from them that I hadn't thought of a bit like what you would do if you won the lottery lol but on a much smaller scale.
I would like a city visit I have been to Rome but my o/h hasn't.
Thank you for your reply

Go to Bruges
We are off there at the end of the month for the beer festival for our fourth trip to this beautiful city. Easy to walk round, canal trips, pony and carriage rides, lots of history, fun stuff(chocolate museum, chip museum, brewery tour) some fantastic restaurants and very friendly.
Great hotels too.
First time we went on Eurostar and as we are in the South East now take the car on Eurotunnel - it's an hour and half drive from Calais - but from North of England a flight would probably be better.0 -
You could hire a boat on the Norfolk broads for a weekend and keep your carbon footprint down too!0

At the moment, it'd go towards floor tiles! Yuck. If I could spend it on something of my choice, it'd definitely be a holiday.
Can pick up a bargain (I'm an excellent holiday-bargain-finder), or consider a city break. I'd definitely be off to somewhere hot right now though...
Been to Prague 9 times - which I can obviously recommend(Stay away from the new bit though if you go - Wenceslas Square and the like. Fine to visit, but wouldn't want to stay there.) People get confused between that and the Old Town Square - that's the quaint square you see in pics.

I would do a driving tour of the Highlands.0

I'm not sure, really.
I won £500 cash in a draw at work (many years ago) and bought 2 gold bracelets which I still have (and wear occasionally).
I really like the 'memories' idea.
I'd do a city break, if I could do it within the £500.
Maybe Dublin, Belfast, Barcelona (depending on cost of airfares/accommodation) or perhaps a mini cruise from Hull/Newcastle.
Whatever you do with it, enjoy it.0 -

I'm guessing this a spammer's attempt to build up a post count?Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Sarahsarah wrote: »No actually. What else can you say? Why ask a load of strangers what to do with £500? How can they know what a poster likes or enjoys and it's hardly worth seeking investment advice on such a small sum.
If you read the OP's posts it is clear that they are interested in knowing what other people would spend the money on (for themselves, not advising how the OP should spend their money).
You may not be aware, but your posts come across quite rude/ignorant. If you can't contribute anything to a discussion perhaps it's better not to post.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
You've saved up £500, so is this the only pot of savings you've got or is this just a little 'bonus' pot separate to your rainy day savings?
If it was me, at the moment, I'd be sticking any spare money straight in my savings account which is dwindling alarmingly low!0
