Sorry have been missing in action. Not keen on this new site at all because everything I post times out...grrr.

Life has been busy - mainly working in the charity shop but I have managed to land myself a 2hr interview/assessment with Jon Louis that will be opening soon.

I have a choice of clothes to wear - I could wear the Jacques Vert skirt I picked up at work or even the designer collection dress from Debenhams (also a work purchase) and I will proudly wear my new trench coat (another work purchase). Feeling rather chuffed that I have spent less than a tenner on clothes that are new and worth more than a tenner:rotfl:

I have the delicious Nick Knowles from DIY SOS filming two roads away from my house. I nipped up there today to see them = didnt see him because he leaves early but did see Billy and had a chat with him. They have put their order in for cake too. :rotfl:

I had better go and find something to eat I am feeling hungry.
  • Yes, I understand, JKS, watching others in groups (family or otherwise) enjoying themselves when you feel you are continually or mostly on your own is really hard.

One of my dreads in lovely weather is the number of neighbours having BBQs. Even if it is just the immediate family, most people have an automatic party going...I have a really nice BBQ that never sees the light of day. I did once have a BBQ for myself, and had so muh food, I nearly exploded :rotfl:. Seriously, though, it made me feel even more Billy-no-mates :(. Definitely easier on the emotions to just not bother.

And so most of the time, I just don't bother, and lots of the time, I'm content not bothering. But sometimes I'm not :(

Exactly how I feel. Think I'm just having a prolonged case of bothering about it, but sure it will pass & I'll be back to not giving a flying * about it all :D

I can also relate to the bursting into tears at "inappropriate times". I did it today in the office, when my (former) colleagues gave me a wee good luck pressie. I had slept so badly last night, was so tired, and so anxious (for various reasons best not gone into here), and just a little unexpected kindness had me suddenly crying to my absolute horror.

Ah, the leaving present scenario. Stuff of nightmares (but very sweet of them to bother). I loathe being the centre of attention, even for a minute.

But I think when you feel like everything is an uphill struggle and you're pretty much on your own dealing with everything, as well as being unfairly blamed for a given situation, then emotions are clearly too close to the surface. That's understandable. Here's a dodgy hug...I need it, too today :grouphug:

But that's what this thread is for. To share good times/bad times with others who hopefully can relate to how you feel. No need at all to go into details of the whys and wherefores.

One of the good things (and not so good things) about my new role is that it is remote working from the business area I support, so my new manager doesn't care where I work as long as I do the work...so I've decided to work from home 2 or 3 days a week. That will make home life a little easier, and I hope to build in loading the washing machine while I make a cuppa etc, which may mean that some weekend time is not full of chores. Fingers crossed, anyway.

If nothing else, I'll save some diesel money :T

But I've found the last few months very very hard at work, was within a gnats whisker of redundancy, and now am feeling I'm neither part of my old team, nor part of my new remote team, so it isn't a comfortable place to be. Still, it's a job, and has potential to be a good job, so I'll make the best of it over the coming months.

As for Byatt, she's a reet slacker on this thread. I'll give her a nudge :rotfl:

    LB xx

Thanks LB. Think I'm just overly tired & emotional (again :rotfl:). Feeling a little better today, but that may because its nearly the weekend - & I have so much spare time to relax at the weekend ;).

I'm so ridiculously tired I may just have to crash for the weekend though. I had to skulk to the lav at work to have a snooze for 10 minutes, sat in a cubicle :D. I had that kind of aching weariness when you can't even talk properly & feel like you're walking through treacle (not that I actually know what that feels like but I'm sure YSWIM :rotfl:). Felt much better after the nap, but I can't keep doing that every day! Then I crashed out on the sofa within minutes of getting home for 2 hours - DS woke me up to ask what was for tea :( Such a slack mother.

Not sure if it isn't hormonal TNH - for the first time since I was pregnant my visitor was almost a week late. If I could remember what s e x was like I may have been in a bit of a panic...

LB - I understand what you mean about not feeling part of either team, & that's rough. But working from home can have its advantages - I used to find that I did get more of the chores done during those quick 5 minute breaks, so hopefully you'll get some of your weekend back. We also ate a lot better as I had time to get stuff out of the freezer & could remember what I wanted to cook for tea - usually this would flash into my head when I was halfway to work . That may not be quite such a benefit for you though as you're far less culinarily challenged than me. And you seem to like cooking more than me :D

Oh dear JKS, you're having a tough time of it right now...have a dodgy hug :grouphug:
I know you've said before that your ex wants the best for the children, but I'm annoyed on your behalf that he thinks that means he can run you down...
I wish we all lived close enough that we could whisk you away for a meal out, with company...and we could run him down! (oh, not physically of course, just verbally :o)...

Hey I'm more than happy if you all want to drive down to me & do a collective running over for real :rotfl:

(See, I'm really not a nice person).

Have to say all this talk of redecorating is making me look about my own house & think about all the things I've lived with for 8 years that I swore I'd change within a month of moving in.

Doesn't make me want to do anything about it all though. I'll get my decorating thrills vicariously through you lot. Hope you manage to sort out what you want to do Ellie & LB without too much mess & upheaval.

BW - hope you're feeling a lot better. Maternity wards are ridiculously hot, but you must eat & drink enough (nag, nag). I think my tiredness can probably be put down to dehydration - can't drink in the lab I work in, so I have to wash hands, remove lab coat, go to refectory, drink....all waaaay to much faff when you're busy but I do notice I'm parched by the time I've got home.

Greenbee - thanks for the wine link. I'm in a wine club (how ridiculous does that sound?) but they don't do 375ml, & Tesco don't do many either, but that site looks promising. Of course I'll have to drain the case of 12 bottles under the stairs, grandly called the wine cellar, before I can justify buying any more.

DD has first GCSE tomorrow. Is she revising? Is she .... Expecting hysterics tomorrow morning. Sigh.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

    Evening all.

It's been lovely day weather wise...just wish I hadn't been stuck at work and so could really appreciate it. Looked nice out the window though

    3forholidays - thank you - all ok now :)

Horace - good luck with the interview/assessment

JKS - thanks for the nag :p you are one of several people that have said the same. I definitely do drink plenty of water since I had a severe dehydration incident years ago (at Niagra Falls of all places :rotfl:) and have learnt my lesson! I do think it was the heat and just the end of a long day and lot of hours since lunch, etc. I'm fine now... well other than tired... but think that's normal given we are 4 days into a 5 day working week

You sound cream crackered though - hope you get some good rest tonight/the weekend. Look after yourself missus (my turn to nag ;))

Horace, Billy seems really nice on that show, lucky you getting to chat to him.

    .

It's taken me 20 years to tackle my kitchen JKS, so you've plenty of time yet :D

Today I cleared out the corner cupboard, you know, the one which you can't reach anything at the back...right in the back corner I found...a babys bottle. He's 25 fgs!!! :rotfl:
I had no idea it was there, and don't know why I found it so hard to throw it in the bin!

Hope you find some energy soon, if you don't maybe a trip to the doctors? You might be anaemic.

Southern Girl, I always pictured you as young...a long-legged blonde....you'll be telling us you don't live in the south next :rotfl:

    Evening all :)

I'm always hopeless at guessing what people look like in RL or just from voices on the phone at work.
