Well done on the carboot Ellie.

I did not go and see dad in hospital - he only wants mum to visit him. I want to remember him as he was and not as he is now hooked up to monitors etc. I got it wrong he is in the Coronary Care Unit not ICU. Mum can't cope with me being upset either which I would be if I walked into that hospital.

Mum said he had a comfortable night but she was spitting feathers when she came home this evening. None of the patients on the ward had had a cup of tea or a hot drink since they got up at 8am - mum was there for 3pm. She asked if she could make a drink for them all and was told that she couldn't use the kettle because it was against health & safety rules (how many times does she handle a kettle at home?). There was a rude nurse on today who even made sarky comments about the fact that mum said she couldnt cope with him. I am really angry - how dare this stroppy nurse be so sarcastic?

He has been referred to a dermatologist about his dry skin - he won't listen because he has been prescribed creams before and he refused too use them because he thought they were effeminate..roll eyes.

Spent the day mowing the front lawn, doing a spot of dead heading, weeding and cutting the edges. My bin is full and I havent mowed the back lawn yet:eek:

Had toast for lunch and a corned beef sandwich for dinner - I really must start eating properly. Also so stressed that I scoffed my way through a tub of ice cream (the same size as a Ben & Jerry's tub) - I havent done that before.

Had to jump in here - still only time to stalk the thread most of the time :-(

Firstly though Horace, I'm really sorry to hear about your Dad. Secondly, - the above jumped out at me. It's so much what I do and the best way I've found to get myself back on track eating wise during stressful times is to make sure I take a multi vitamin with the trace minerals.

I usually buy an effervescent one and I drop in an effervescent magnesium tablet too (over here, L!dl do the straight magnesium at 99 centimes for 20). I've found that the worse I eat, the worse I eat, IYSIM, and topping up whatever vits/mins I must be lacking seems to help me eat better.

Congratulations, hugs to everyone else on the thread as required - back to lurkdom here as still working like mad to get the house to a place where the estate agent can come back and photograph.

  • Haha! I wish I was..................

I live on the South Coast, 500 meters from the beach.
I'm almost 56 years old and have 3 children
    (DD 35, DS 33 and DS 28)
    Also have 4 grandsons.

I'm now wondering why a few of you thought I was 'a youngster'?
    I'm worried now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Maybe a background on some of you would be good!

You know, I thought that as well, but thought maybe it was rude to say :D
(and now I'm saying it anyway :rotfl:)

Southern Girl, I always pictured you as young...a long-legged blonde....you'll be telling us you don't live in the south next :rotfl:

    Oh - and I'm not a long legged blonde! 5' 8" brunette!:o

    Don't be worried :)
For myself, I think it's the word "Girl" which makes me think of someone young...I used to be on a work forum and my name was xxxxx-girl, a lot of people on there thought I was young until I had to come clean and spoil the illusion :rotfl:

I'm hot on your heels re age, but no grandchildren yet.

    Half right then :D

    and I have beach envy!

 oooh being near a beach would be lovely right now

Have had a somewhat challenging and frustrating day although I have got to do so from the comfort of home at least. It was an enforced day working at home due to having a car accident at the weekend (no one hurt thank goodness) and so currently without transport. :( I was also dealing with insurance people and garages in between actual work stuff - oh the joys!

In somewhat cheerier news - my friend with the prem baby have both been allowed to go home at last :T

Oh what a hassle BookWorm, no wonder you're frustrated.
Glad no-one was hurt, everything else can be fixed.

Will the insurance company give you a hire car?
I had one a couple of years ago for 5 weeks, I was so disappointed to get my own little car back :rotfl:

Hi Ellie - yes that's they way I am looking at it too.

Yes they will give me a hire care but it won't be for a few days yet (various reasons) I'm not sure yet what it will be - will find out when it gets here!
