My black velvet pusscat is turning brown. Her dad is a chocolate Burmese and now she's nearly five the fur on her face has some brown shades in it. It looks very strange as the rest of her has stayed black. She's friendly and very purry too.

Hoping he'll be my man in the cupboard when hes older, taller & stronger. I'll not keep him in the cupboard, but sure you all know what I mean :D

I love your sense of humour JKS, it's so understated but *funny* :D

Mine are grown up, but they only do the jobs they like!

I am needing to research paints for my kitchen cupboard doors/drawers. I fancy a pale green...

    LB xx

I've been thinking of painting my kitchen cupboards for months, still trying to find the enthusiasm required.

Have you ever tried ESP? ( as mentioned in this blog http://www.paintedstyle.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/painting-kitchen-cupboardseven-melamine.html)

I've only used it on a bedroom chair recently, so can't comment on how strong it is yet. Because it's a clear liquid it doesn't feel like it's doing anything, but it seems to get good reviews.

Whatever you do, don't use proper " cupboard paint"...I've used it before and it's chips really easily.

Painting my kitchen is on "The List"....:rotfl:

Is anyone else going to watch "The C Word" on TV tonight?

It's a one off drama from a blog written by a young woman who got breast cancer. I read the blog for several years and it was interesting, informative, heartbreaking and also hilarious...she was an excellent writer.

She knew the BBC were going to make the drama before she died, such a shame she didn't get to see the finished film.

I hadn't heard of ESP - have now looked it up. Rave reviews but is expensive (but then so is paint!). I have undercoat left from painting my gate, so am going to use that as I need to stop spending, but still want to revamp my kitchen!

Am thinking of a green along the lines of this -

    http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/farrow-%26-ball-eco-no32-cooking-apple-green---full-gloss-paint---750ml-455509

I don't want gloss though, would prefer a matt or satin finish. I want to take advantage of the 15% off tomorrow if I can.

ETA - honestly what a thicko , they do it in eggshell....which is what I'm looking for...bet my localish store doesn't have it...

ETA...nope my localish store doesn't have it...

Erm....is that what they call a spoiler? :rotfl:

I think I will watch it, but it still feels a bit raw since losing my parents so not sure if I will watch it all. Will try though...

ETA - have removed the spoiler :o

Oh that's a lovely colour LB.

If your local store does have it in stock, reserve it online so nobody else can buy it before you get there.
If they don't have it maybe you could order it online? you'd still get your discount then.

The ESP was expensive, I paid nearly £25 for my tub, but I thought it would be worth it if it stopped the kitchen doors chipping, seeing as it will be such a big job painting them.

Mind you, the first time I painted kitchen cupboards, I just covered up the 70s bright orange colour with some cream paint without knowing anything about painting, and they were fine for years!

Oops ,sorry about the spoiler...I could remove it but you've quoted me now :rotfl:

ETA: can we have before and after pics to inspire us please?

Thanks Ellie, I did reserve it, but then realised I would have to collect it tomorrow to get my discount, and frankly, I don't want to drive all the way to Newcastle to do that tomorrow.

So, I have ordered it online for home delivery. I also had a £15 off discount for some shoddy service last year that I haven't been able to use yet, so have used that tonight, and basically, I will be revamping my cupboards and drawers almost free. That's my kind of shopping :j

    I luvs a bargain.. :rotfl:

I'll try to find the energy to do a bit of painting each evening after work to get that job done. My heart is sinking but I know I will be pleased with the finished result.

    Yay!

Even my cooker was half price to me as it was reduced, and I used vouchers from my long service award at work, and I also managed to negotiate a further small reduction.

I'm still annoyed with myself though as I had a Mr M's £9 off voucher and forgot to use it....hangs head in shame :o

Call myself MSE...! I don't think so...

    Maybe.... ;)

Will take photos of it tomorrow and then again when my cooker is in place, it's all painted, and tidy. If I can remember how to post piccies, I will do.

I was thinking of changing the door handles but can't get the old ones off...even when I unscrew them, they are welded fast to the doors, so I think I will save some more money and pretend I wanted to keep the old ones all along.... :rotfl:

I did watch it & thought it was excellent, even though it was so sad. I hadn't heard of her before - wonder what she'd have thought of the programme. I hope she'd have loved it.

It does make me wonder what on earth Id do if I were in her position . I can't bear to think about it.

That sounds like a good plan LB. :money: will be proud of you. Looking forward to the pictures :)

Where did that 3 day weekend go then? Work beckons :( & DD will be home tomorrow, so the house will be noisy & full of all the carp she sheds :rotfl: DS was hoping she'd stay away for a few more days as he likes not sharing me, & DD always gets the bigger share as she's so demanding just now. Its been lovely to just have DS who just gets on quietly with life - the house has a very different atmosphere.

I have missed her, honest :D She has a lovely clean bed to get into, her favourite meal in the fridge & free rein of the TV until DS & I get home with fish & chips, so I'm hoping she'll be glad to see us.

I had a strained chat with Ma - she was mithering on about all the things that were wrong with her life when the call was dropped. My handset showed we were still connected but I couldn't hear anything, so I hung up & called her back. She thought I'd hung up on her because I was bored - er, no, I've never done that in my life & wouldn't dream of being so rude . Quite sad that she thinks so little of me & my manners, but then there is absolutely nothing, not a single, solitary thing that is right with the world (except her). I said I'd got a DVD of her favourite film & would she like me to put it in the post (knowing she has a DVD player but no copy of this film). That led to a tirade of why on earth would she want that, it had been on TV at least twice this last week, was I stupid? Well, clearly, for even thinking for a moment that I could do anything to please her :rotfl:

Odd how my ex & her didn't get on, seeing as they're quite similar. Although my ex is much, much nicer :D

    Families.

My two have promised to push me off a cliff if I'm like nana. They've obviously given it some serious thought as they could name a few places (& we don't live anywhere near any cliffs). Should I be proud or horrified?

Hope all are doing OK & hugs to anyone feeling a bit carp :grouphug:
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

I think she'd have been thrilled. Her blog is still available to read. Understandably the programme could only cover a small part of her experiences, and I don't think it got across just how good her blog was. After testing, they discovered both her mother and brother carry the same cancer gene, and her mum had preventative surgery.

Oh definitely proud :) You must be doing something right if they can talk to you about stuff like that...and they're good at geography :rotfl:

I'm exhausted, a busy long day working, and instead of coming straight home tonight I had to go into town to let someone see aunts flat which is for sale (because the solicitor didn't let on to him that they had a key )
Please keep your fingers and toes crossed that he wants to buy it, selling is hard right now.

I think I've had toast for tea for the last 3 nights, too tired to bother with anything else. A vicious circle, I'm sure I need my veg for energy!

Must get to bed, another early morning tomorrow...and the forecast is wall to wall rain all day :(
