I had a bath, and if I'd put my feet fully to the end of the bath I'm sure I would have drowned...usually my head stays out of the water when I'm lying back. Can you shrink in less than a week? :rotfl:

 How long did you stay in the bath Ellie?? :rotfl:

Darn it! Missed the "L" on alphabetty again. Nice try, Springdreams :o

I'm busy...that's what I am...nowt exciting, still diy and just "stuff" really but only just sitting down now, and I left work at 2pm. Sure will be worth it when finished  Busy weekend of diy and chores ahead. :(

Crikey, Cranky, that sounds pretty bad. I had a bad allergic reaction to baby oil...lasted about 4 weeks from the neck down. Could have torn my skin off. You have my sympathy!

And no JKS, you haven't put me off fostering. I'm pretty determined to make it work. Your two sound like normal teenagers to me. Apparently,(according to the research I've been doing), the brain doesn't stop developing until the 20s so it seems they really can't help not thinking logically or not thinking things through properly...their brains probably aren't at the point that they actually can. Hopefully that helps you not feel they are doing stuff (or more accurately not doing stuff) deliberately. Doesn't mean I won't moan about any foster kids and their doings but for a single person without family, I have to say I'm looking forward to it, and the moaning:rotfl:.

I suspect the big difference will be that I won't take any problems with the kids personally. They aren't my kids and I will hopefully be more of a mentor than a parent....but we shall see...

Crikey, Cranky....sorry, just wanted to say that again...Crikey Cranky...

    :rotfl:

    Enjoy your weekends, folks.

    LB xx

ETA - I don't even close my bathroom door let alone lock it. Will need to retrain myself if I have a child in the house. On the odd occasion I close any door in the house, the pusscats complain bitterly...and open the door themselves...

CRANKY40, what a nightmare! The body certainly is a complex thing, isn't it?

JKS, enjoy the weekend with DS. It's nice to spend some one to one time with just one child at a time.

I never lock it even when I'm not alone in the house.

:rotfl: I do lock it when I have a bath or shower, too many family members have door keys and can turn up unexpectedly! Probably being a bit paranoid.

A few years back I went for an early morning shower sure I had the house to myself. DS2 was away, and I'd heard DS1 going off to work. So I didn't shut the door, and when finished I wandered nakid back to my bedroom...about 20 seconds later I heard feet going down the stairs...it was DS1s friend, who'd stayed in DS2s bed and nobody had told me...he was 20 seconds away from an experience that could not be unseen, which would have been burned on the back of his eyeballs...we both had a lucky "escape" :rotfl:

Ha ha, I don't lock the bathroom door but ds is only 10 and we don't have friends staying over yet.

Yes, the baby allergy thing was interesting and is the reason that ds is an only child. There were a lot of complications from taking steroids in fairly large doses in late pregnancy. I was lucky and he is very healthy but it was a risk I wouldn't have been happy to take again.

LB if I have problems with ds I blame his father as he's not here to defend himself :rotfl: The boy is so like his dad anyway that it's like having his father back here some days. I try to remind myself that I am doing the best that I can and nobody could do more. Same goes for the rest of you I reckon. We are all doing the very best that we can.

I agree with you - just doing the best that you can is all anyone can expect of themselves and others.

I like the way you intend to think of yourself as a mentor and taking the heat of of a situation.

DH has been in hospital for ten days and deteriorated rapidly. I managed to get him to a good care home locally on Thursday evening. Me, DDs and son in law stayed there that night by his side
until he left us around noon. So thankful he was not in pain or distress and surrounded by those who loved him so never alone.

    Hugs to all.

Elona, I am so sorry...I read your post twice before I realised what you meant. Hugs just don't seem enough. X
  • Elona - so very sorry to read your post. Even when expected it is always hard. Be gentle with yourself for the next months. Thinking of you.

My dad took ill in the bathroom one morning but luckily for my mum we never lock the bathroom door and this meant that she was able to access the bathroom to help. Trying to push the door open against the weight of a sixteen stone man was hard enough without having to unlock the door from the outside as well.
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.
