I have loads rhubarb on lottie...it's the only thing I grow really well...and I don't really like it, naturally :rotfl:
LB xx
How can you not like rhubarb? Its scrumptious - along with greengages which only ever seem to be in season for about 15 minutes.
How's the mouth today?
I managed to mix up my garden waste collection day, so I have to wait for another 13 days before my bursting bin will be emptied. So I have a legitimate reason for not cracking on with doing the front garden - but I was actually in the mood to do it this afternoon as its my day off. My timing sucks :rotfl:
Its been a frustrating day all round today - I thought I'd treat myself to lunch after taking DD to the GP (40 min walk in one direction) then going to town (20 min walk) as I was laden down with shopping. The first cafe was full, the second wasn't starting their lunch menu until 1pm (is it me or is that just a little late :wall:) & at the final one the chef had "just popped out for a while" (define "while" & why do it at 12?). I got the message at this point & walked to the bus stop only to see the bus leave 5 minutes early . So I went to the library to pick up a book for DS that I'd had an email to say was ready to be collected - could they find it? No. Was I sure I'd had the email? Nope, I thought I'd just make that up to see the look on your face. As well as not finding the book the lady I spoke to couldn't find her sense of humour either. She shouted at the next customer, so I'm glad I was on my way out at this point.
They rang me about 20 minutes ago to say they'd found it & it was behind the counter all the time, clearly marked. Sigh. No time to pick it up now til next Wed & it was to help with homework due in by Friday.
Oh, & the bathroom window handle came off in my hand, although as I wasn't expecting it to, I wasn't holding it very tightly so it fell out of my hand & landed on the shed roof below. So I had to get the stepladders out of the shed (naturally I had to move 50 million other items first before I could get to the stepladders) & balance precariously as I still wasn't quite tall enough, & try & hook the handle off the roof with the broom (which I'd also had to hunt for). Hope nobody was watching me :rotfl:
Sadly the handle can't be made to go back on, so I've had to hook up a belt & string contraption to open & close the window. Very Heath Robinson :rotfl: & it will have to do until I can face trying to get someone to repair it. I don't feel today is the day to be attempting anything else - just wondering what could go wrong with getting the washing in
The only thing that has been keeping me going today is that I'm finally meeting up & going out with a friend that I haven't seen for months. We're actually going to a pub with a beer garden, so it'll be a great evening - been looking forward to it for weeks. I haven't been out with a grown up for ages
How are you all doing?& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

Enjoy your evening Jks, well deserved especially after your carp day...weird cafe owners! Chef popped out...lol..
I'm house sitting in a rural area, old farmhouse...I think they may come home to find the locks changed and they have a squatter...I was pretending I was Snow White, yesterday as I lay on the lounger in the garden...every time I opened my eyes an animal or bird was strolling by...watched the squirrels leap from the bird table onto the hanging peanut holder and swing madly about, it was like a ride at A£ton Towers...and who knew pheasants could fly...why do they walk across roads?!
P.S. I luvs rhubarb...0 -
I hates rhubarb
Guess who has just ordered a sander?! :j
I was going to replace my wooden kitchen worktops but have decided it is more MSE to get a power tool (ooh er missus) and do it myself...so guess what I'm doing on the bank hol :rotfl:
I had half the money needed in vouchers, too :T
Gosh, I feel all Superwoman now :rotfl:
LB xx
ETA - my poor gum is very sore and swollen where the injection went in...I could gnaw at it, if I had a toof anyway :rotfl:0 -
JKS I thought it was just me that was having that kind of week. Monday - drove to friend's house to post contribution for boat through the letterbox. Posted something to my dad in the post box opposite their house then couldn't find the envelope with the cheque in. Assumed I'd posted it with dad's papers but drove home to look for it to make sure. Not in the house so opened the car door again to double check and found it down the side of the seat so drove back to friend's house to put it through their door. Drove home then had to call dad to inform him I'd posted his stuff without the aid of a stamp.
Tuesday I drove to Tescos, got as far as the carpark and school rang to tell me ds's operation scar was hurting (I think it's healing inside). I drove to school, gave him painkillers, took him to the toilet to make sure he was ok, then took him up the stairs to his classroom ahead of everyone else so he didn't get pushed or shoved and hurt more. Then I drove back to Tescos. Groundhog day revisited!
I don't mind doing things for ds but it would be good to have had someone to take a turn occasionally. His father was always away at sea when anything went wrong even when he was alive though.
LB that was my son's biggest complaint when he had a tooth out the week before last. The injection site hurt the most. I bought him a tube of teething gel and that seemed to fix him0 -
I'm sorry JKS, the picture of you up the ladder is making me laugh
Reminded me of the day I was standing on a chair hanging out the bathroom window with a kettle, trying to defrost my pipes (it worked btw!)
It's crazy that cafes aren't serving at lunchtime, they must not want the business. Last time I was in town I went into a pub where I wanted a pub lunch, and was told the chef was doing a new menu, so was busy doing that today and they weren't serving...didn't strike me as very organized (it was easter week and the town was full of tourists).
I tried another pub, the only customers were half a dozen men round the bar, a total male domain, I walked straight back out! I'm glad I have the confidence to leave if I don't like the look of something.
LB, I have a sanderand an electric screwdriver somewhere (bought to build a flat pack kitchen, then never used again
)
Sounds like you're going to be busy over the holiday.
CRANKY40, teething gel is a brilliant idea.
I was meant to start a diet this week. I've spent the evening having a chinese takeaway with a friend, with wine. Also my DM made rock buns, warm, just out the oven...you can guess how well the diet is going
Can't settle to anything this week, doing about ten jobs badly and finishing nothing. Did some gardening yesterday (got a spelk :rotfl:) and the backs of my legs are sore today.
Tomorrow I have to meet solicitor at my aunts flat (again!) because the photos they took for the sale are really bad, not professional at all. Why is nothing ever easy?

Need to catch up.
LB Sorry to hear about your tooth, I think that I may have to go to the dentist because I have a couple of teeth that are a tad sensitive (not sure if it is from clenching though) - one may have to come out and I am dreading it.
I have been busy with my community work placement - for the most part I enjoy it, except on certain days when one volunteer is there and she always speaks to me as though I am something she has trodden in. I try and avoid her as much as possible so that when she starts with the verbals I just walk away. I had my job search on Tuesday and have applied for a lovely job in a restaurant as an event manager.
It sure is hard working in a charity shop because I see things that I like and it is difficult to resist temptation. I did not resist temptation today though because a lovely heavy loaf tin was bought in which I had to price and put on display - what a bargainous thing it turned out to be because at the end of the day I decided to buy it and it cost me £2.01 (marked price £3 so I was given a volunteer discount), I have just looked it up online and new it costs £12 (this tin looks like new too). At least it will last a long time and I can perhaps have a go at baking some bread or I can use it for cakes or a terrine.
Saw some of my neighbours yesterday, one I bumped into at the bus stop and she was going to town so she was telling me what it was like living next door to the chavs and how she was now on anti depressants because they make her life hell. I saw her again on the bus home. Saw my immediate next door neighbour too and she said that she was shouting for me and I didn't come - it would seem that she fell over in the front garden and was calling me but I wasn't in. At 2pm I was sitting in front of a computer looking for a job.
Nipped to the village on the way home to collect my prescription from the chemist - I have been given additional drops now so I came home with a large bag of drugs - horrid to think that they last me 30 days and there are boxes and boxes of them:eek:
Will catch up properly tomorrow - toodle pip.0 -
I forgot to say to JKS that last time something was dropped out of our bathroom window it was in the old house and I may have dangled a child out of the window to retrieve it. Not my child, a taller one! I'd have climbed out myself but at my weight I would have probably cracked the roof tiles.0

I come to share some good news...
Back to the breast clinic - had a mammagram and an ultrasound, and I pleased to say that I have had the all clear, theres no lumps, bumps, big c, no scar tissue inside, its a big relief.
Go back 4 weeks - as it should be healed by now, but it's hanging on in there, so twice week for dresing change.
...
Dentist yesterday - I had 2 small fillings, the injection hurt more than anything, even 4 hrs later, my chin still felt frozen.
DD - she had to have x-rays, and now has to go to another surgery as she needs a complex x-ray, waiting that, then were know where we go from there.
---
As for school, its up and down, I'm getting the impression that I'm being told what they think I want to hear (we're speak to DD on daily basis, to touch base, had indepth chat with her...), so just biding my time to see what goes on xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

That's excellent news mum2one :TI forgot to say to JKS that last time something was dropped out of our bathroom window it was in the old house and I may have dangled a child out of the window to retrieve it. ha ha, the bathroom window stories keep coming :rotfl:
Any advance on hanging a child out the window?
Can't top that, but my SIL once dropped her false teeth out the bathroom window...she leaned out to shout something to her hubby and her teeth fell out :rotfl:
Hope you all have a sunny day.

Good evening peeps
Mum2one - great news :T
No bathroom stories from me I'm afraid...
I've had one of those days I'd rather forget... it started off with the joys of dealing with a puncture  You might know I was up and out early this morning as wanted to get to work to get some stuff done... and somehow the universe (or whatever!) decided otherwise. I had to wait for the breakdown to come (although they were good and were with me in 40 mins) and then had to spend another hour or so at the garage to get a new tyre. So all in all I was 3 hours later getting to work than I wanted and about £70 worse off
Once at work, I found out that we have lost a large account and then have had a most niggly headache all afternoon. I'm hoping it was just tension and doesn't bother me tomorrow after drugs and a good nights sleep.
Hope you are all doing better than me...0
