Hope your ok, def agree try looking at the positives.

I'm trying to be frugal with everything, but have decided to take on 1 challenge a month (personal to me) and help getting organised.

Jan - Sort out money, - got 1 diary that use just for money, all incomings and outgoings, and then a personal diary so dont have money being pushed into my face (without sounding daft),

Feb - going to start looking after my skin, brought some no 7 skincare with the £5 off vouchers had from Boots -x

Sounds good and I wish you the best of luck with your challenge
  • Is your son a Springdreams? I often get called Mrs xxx (sons surname) which isn't my name, never has been

I have never been married so always been a Miss, at what age do people think it becomes inappropriate to be known as a Miss? I am 40 this year:eek: so perhaps I had better think about becoming Ms?

My son is indeed a Springdreams.

He is from the relationship I had after my divorce. His dad and I never married. His dad was more concerned with maintaining his single status than claiming his parental rights.

I think it is entirely your choice whether to be a Miss or a Ms. Unfortunately, many people will still refer to you as Mrs because of your son ....

As for taking on your husband's last name when you marry, I know many woman who are most anxious to do this (including my sister and both SILs). They consider it an ownership stamp of sorts and are very proud to be Mrs Hubbie. They were processing their change of names almost whilst the ink was still wet on the marriage certificate ;)

I think my SIL may have done this beforehand...
  • Starting to feel I'm making a wee bit of progress on the old will making - I have my notes typed up, agreement with a trusted friend to clear my house/look after my pets, and an appointment with a solicitor next week. I based my solicitor selection on the cost (they all quoted the same - £100 + VAT), so then on how friendly and approachable the receptionist was...as two were automated press this, press that, and one was a real live human being who gaily laughed when she dropped her pen, guess which one I chose :T

Oh, I knew there was something I wanted to mention - for those of you thinking of wills etc...remember if you have pension plans, you can complete Expression of Wish forms for lump sum payments after death. I'm glad I've remembered mine or toxic brother would be getting a lovely surprise....not after tonight as that's tonight's urgent jobbie... :)

Does your company have some type of insurance that pays out if you die whilst in their employment? If so, perhaps you have named toxic brother there too, which you may also need to change.

    Xmas Saver!
I never married (thank god) as DD's father - less said the better, he wanted her to have his surname and an Irish name to celebrate his family.... so when DD was born she got my surname, she has her Christan name and 3 middle names, she has names all from my family, 2 of her names were my sisters, and 2 were my nans (thou my mum has 2 of the names and I have one).

If I had of known what I know now, I would have registered her as a different surname, then have got mine changed, - that would have been my nans married name - its unusual and in our local area there is only my mums family that has the surname.

    Maybe one day...

I'm still a Miss, weird as about 12 months ago my one bank decided to rename me Mrs... I sometimes sign things as Ms.. gives an air of mystery xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • It appears I'm the second bloke to venture in here. 34, always single, expect to remain so and am content with that. Just aware I'm seriously deficient in the practical skills that you have been discussing and it's something I'd like to rectify.

I've stayed up too late than I should for a weekday so I'm off to bed but hope to chip in later.

  • Another member of the insomnia club here.. At least I can put the tv (bbc news) on & go get a cuppa rather than having to lie still in the dark trying not to disturb someone else :) However I also know I will fall back asleep abot 6.30/7am then wake an hour later & rush round trying not to be late for work!!
