JKS, re being out alone with the children.
I hated all the school things I had to go to alone, especially the parents nights...sitting there among all the couples waiting my turn.
So glad I don't have to go there any more, still remember how happy I felt the day the last child left school (especially as he was no angel and I was occasionally called in if he'd been fighting!)

I'm a single parent too, but must say that I am so used to doing these sort of things by myself as I have always done them by myself, so I don't actually notice the couples with their children at school things.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

It's difficult, isn't it? I work at the same school as my 2, so teachers & pupil support will often come & find me to "chat". That's really awkward, as I don't feel its very fair of them - after all they wouldn't expect to waltz into someone elses work place & speak to them immediately; they'd have to make an appointment, 'phone at a convenient time or send a letter home. But when I point this out then the teacher tends to get a bit huffy & almost accuses me of not caring enough about my kids education.
It all adds to my feelings of not being able to do anything right :rotfl: & I shall be so glad when my 2 have left school. Neither of them are particularly enjoying it, or are academically gifted, so I think life will be a big improvement for all of us when the school days are over.springdreams wrote: »I'm a single parent too, but must say that I am so used to doing these sort of things by myself as I have always done them by myself, so I don't actually notice the couples with their children at school things.
This is what I'm aiming for. If only teachers would stop saying "So, is his father joining us?".....
Can anyone tell I'm not really looking forward to going back to work tomorrow? I like my team very much, & its a fun job most of the time, but I'm not a fan of the politics of education.
How's everyone tonight?& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

School was a disaster from playgroup onwards...for my DD...I was so naive about the education system, thought they were there to help and support...nope...the amount of times I dropped her off and cried in my car as I drove to work are too many to count.
Of course all the experience is useless because you don't have the time to do it differently.
As for my ex, the less said the better...on the one occasion he joined in the school fete, he pushed her head under water when she was "bobbing the Apple". I wanted to kill him. And the more I think of that the more I think, "I'd be out now...":eek::cool::D
Today has been like winter, but went out to meet a friend for lunch, uncharacteristically I couldn't eat all my lunchalthough I could now if it was in front of me:rotfl:
I'm still house sitting, tried brushing the two cats earlier, I have to approach with the brush behind my back...or they scarper:cool: They are Persians so need daily brushing.0 -
Hope you are feeling better JKS?0

Hope everyone is getting through the week intact. Good luck at being back at work tomorrow, JKS.
Springdreams - every time you pop up looking for a letter, you make me laugh out loud :rotfl:

While children are mostly a blessing, dealing with school is a BIG BIG negativeI used to enjoy the long summer holidays, could never understand the parents who were desperate to get their kids back to school.
I'm sure I'll enjoy grandchildren if I ever have any, but quite frankly I'm dreading having to do the school run again (DS2 has already told me I'll be needed to babysit :rotfl:)
Really cold today, did half an hour in the garden and there were frozen hail stones lying from yesterday, my fingers were numb.
Went a walk with a friend...we pass a gorgeous house in the country which has been empty for years, and we always say what a shame it's sitting empty. Today it looked like it had had some work done, so we stopped for a nosey through the windows. A man with a big dog appeared from nowhere and said it was his house, so we were caught being nosy :rotfl:
He was very nice though, told us all about what was being done, and told us to drop in for a cuppa and a tour when it's finished.
And after forcing myself to walk for an hour because I should be losing weight, I stopped for a kebab and chips on the way home

I love looking in people's houses (I think I've watched every episode of H0mes under the H8mmer and L0cation :rotfl:, not to mention every other programme about homes and houses). Nothing better than dark evenings, and people who leave curtains open. I mean that in a completely unpervy way :rotfl:
Was the blokey "nice", then Ellie?
LMMM has finally hopped off my knee so I have no excuse not to go and wash up. Better get on with it!
