Oh I forgot to say about listening to the little voice in your head...you all have those moments don't ya? Looks around...uneasily...:o

I was driving towards a 30mph...and as is my wont, I usually slow down by taking my foot off the accelerator, so sometimes I'm kind of doing a bit more than 30 as I pass the sign. This time, the little voice said, why don't you take your foot off a damn bit sooner...so I did...and sailed passed the sign at just under 30. And guess what? Go on...guess...:p there were two police women hiding...with a speed gun:p. I looked at my Speedo and was relieved to see I was still under 30...:D. Wipes sweat off brow...

It's odd though, because where the major accidents happen, resulting in fatalities is on the A road of which this 30mph road is on the junction and there's never been a speed camera there!

Was the blokey "nice", then Ellie? ;)

Yes he was LB :)...but as he kept talking about "we" I assume there's a wife as well (who's probably well chuffed that hubby is inviting in total strangers to look round her house :rotfl:)

I'm a very trusting person, I'm sure a lot of people would say it could be dangerous to go into a house with a strange man, but I've never bothered. I've done lots of house viewings by myself. I think life as a singlie could be quite difficult if you always had to have a chaperone.

I like looking in houses and watching house programmes too, my tastes have changed a lot over the years. Just about to watch Tiny House Nation now :)

Byatt, either you're psychic, or you had a guardian angel whispering in your ear :D

I can't join in talk of schools and parents evenings...wails me

    :rotfl:

Hope everyone is getting through the week intact. Good luck at being back at work tomorrow, JKS.

Springdreams - every time you pop up looking for a letter, you make me laugh out loud :rotfl:

Happy to be providing some amusement :p

It also introduces people to parts of the forum they might not otherwise have visited. The Arms are a very amusing part of the forum.

And on that note, the alphabet thread are looking for an O

Hope you are feeling better JKS? :)

Much better thanks Byatt. Thanks to all of you for your kind thoughts while I've been sniffling. Had to go back to work today & my legs & feet are aching. I feel ancient :rotfl: It was nice to see the gang, but some of the other staff didn't even comment, not a "Nice to see you're back" or "Are you feeling much better", not even a hello from some of them. No manners :D

JustKeepSwimming...did you get dressed today? :D

Sadly, yes I did. And today for work too, so two days in a row. It still feels s bit wrong, but I was back in PJs by 6.

While children are mostly a blessing, dealing with school is a BIG BIG negative :) I used to enjoy the long summer holidays, could never understand the parents who were desperate to get their kids back to school.

I can't wait for the long holidays either (& not just because I work in a school :D). My kids are like completely different children during the holidays, & they've relaxed today as it was end of term for them. I'm in tomorrow for a training day - ho, ho, ho. As support staff we get FA training & if we want our lab cleaned we have to do it ourselves. So that's what we'll all be doing tomorrow. Much easier when there aren't all the kids untidying the school :rotfl:

And after forcing myself to walk for an hour because I should be losing weight, I stopped for a kebab and chips on the way home :o

Aren't you supposed to carb load before the exercise?

Crikey Byatt, that was a lucky escape. When you said about voices I was wondering what you were going to post :rotfl:

DD & DS have just gone away with their Dad, his current wife & their 5 year old son for over a week - I don't get them back until Easter Monday :j. They're going skiing (which I loathe) so I'm sure they'll have a great time; DS is a bit worried about the plane flight though :( And he doesn't like being away from me either. DD quite likes being away from me (having just been with me for almost 2 months I think we're due a break), but she doesn't want to be with her Dad & Step Mum either. Fingers crossed she isn't too teenage on the holiday :D

I'm not sure what to do with my sudden week of freedom. The holiday was last minute, so I haven't planned anything. I don't have a burning desire to go anywhere particular, but think I ought to do something as I may not get time off again till the summer holidays.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

I always planned to do loads of stuff when DD was away, but usually ended up just slobbing about and she was home before I knew it.

Hope you can get away or do something different...some nice pampering. :)

Can I vent - so annoyed - although now sorted - it's unbelievable.

I'm on esa - work related although been signed off work still pop in yearly for job centre review. Had a letter with appointment - can't make it as its same as consultants app (over 2 weeks away) and day dad goes to hospice so rang the number explained why I needed to change
I got told I was being arkward needing to change and how on inconvient it was, she was really rude and bordering abusive, when I explanied it was dad at hospice and also my consultants appointment did her attitude change from flipping rude to rude.

Eventually she said she couldn't sort it out as she had no access to my local job centre and how it wasn't her job for people changing their mind - I said this was the only number on the letter, the. She said she would email the local job centre and they would ring back within 3 hrs ( because was 3pm) it would go through to tomorrow. I said I was at hospital for consultant then treatment at dentist would be in after 1pm.
Although my parents could take a message.

You could hear the tone of her voice change - to sheer glee - that if I didn't take the telephone call that I would be sanctioned for a considerable period of time. Even thou said I have consultants appointment and its a weekly standing appointment whicb I have all appointments - she proceeded to tell me it's not her fault that I won't be in. That I deserve any sanctions given to me.

Luckily within 30mins the phone rang and my local job centre explained what happened they blew a fuse and nothing she said was right and that they would start an internal enquiry. No prob at all swapping the appointment.

Should I complain myself as pretty sure the phonecAlls are recorded are just let them do it? Xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

That sounds appalling, Mum2One. If you have the energy to complain , do so. Do you have her name?

Well, I've finally given in/given up (can't decide which), and have taken tomorrow off...to rest, but in reality will probably dig over my allotment as the weather at the weekend sounds like it will be too wet. Still, taking tomorrow off, means a wee lie in, and hopefully, more rest time over the actual weekend.

I am sooooo knackered, I can't tell you. Probably a combo of grot virus and the stress of the last gawd knows how many years. I need a holiday in the sunshine. I do....just a little warm sunshine....

    :)

That's how I usually spend my child free time, just slobbing & sleeping, but as that time is now so limited I think I should fill up every minute partying :D

In all likelihood I won't do much apart from sort the house out & other chores, & sleep.

Although they've only been gone for 4 hours, I'm really missing them & feeling sad - I'm not usually like this until they've been gone for at least 2 days. Must still be ill

DD had this book for Xmas so I may do some experimental cooking (if you can call it cooking) this week - less washing up, so gets my vote.

Mum2one - that does sound horrendous. I would complain - if you can bear to hit your head against a wall.

I have an old work colleague going through the horrors of ESA & dealing with the benefits bods (we still call then the 'SS - after the old DHSS for all you young ones out there), & some of the treatment she's had to go through if just appalling. Some had been downright stupid - sometimes she uses a wheelchair (she has relapsing remitting MS) if she's having a bad time, yet they still expect her to go for training on the 3rd floor - with no lift. She told me about a lady in her ESA group who is registered blind, although she does have quite a lot of sight most of it isn't useful in the reading/driving/close work sense. She was expected to go for a computer training course - with no adaptations on the computer :wall:

You really couldn't make it up.

I won't say that maybe you should have taken longer off work the first time...... I really won't :)

I hope you do get a chance to have a good rest, & fingers crossed for some sunshine up your way. This virus (although I can't see how we can have the same one) is awful - it has gone through our school with a vengeance & most of the grown ups who've succumbed have been off for well over a week.

    Look after yourself.

I've been not really watching Holiday Love Rats Exposed while I've been surfing & paying bills - makes you glad to be single. LB - I hope this isn't why you want a holiday in the sun :rotfl:
