Fifteen for 2015 After much deliberation, this is what I have come up with. Fifteen words to encapsulate 2015, a blueprint or manifesto, grouped under my 5 goals but in many cases they would be equally appropriate in another category and are intended to underpin the whole strategy.FIFTEEN FOR 2015
Be Debt Free
FREEDOM from debt, from worry, from possessions that no longer have a place in my life
FINANCE Set and monitor budgets. Be in control.
FRUGAL Explore all other options to buying
Be Healthy
FOOD More about sowing and growing than buying. Build meals around simple, healthy ingredients.
FITNESS Exercise will be mainly walking. Also about things being FIT for purpose, they needn't be perfect, just suitable.
FLEXIBILITY of body and mind, open to change and new experiences.
Be Selfish
FABULOUS Not Frumpy. Taking time to look after myself and recognise my needs
FASHION Want to return to making my own clothes. I know what suits and flatters my shape.
FUN AND FEASTING Doing the things I enjoy but also living in the moment and enjoying the everyday things I do. I already have some ideas for things to make as presents, using and recycling what I already have.
Keep Learning
FIFTEEN IN FIFTEEN Will put together a list of fifteen projects for the year, some craft activities, some practical (need more storage in the kitchen). These should enhance my well-being whilst developing skills in a number of areas - problem solving, creativity, imagination. No/low cost where possible.
FINISH WHAT I START In January I will be working on completing a number of part completed embroidery projects but need to follow up on other projects (or know when to quit and put the energy into another area).
FEED MY SOUL Reading. Quiet time. Mindfulness. Zen habits. Appreciation of my surroundings and good moments in each day.
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.
FRESH START A new chapter in my life, post children (even if the 23yo is clinging on to the nest). A sustainable life.
FEARLESS life has knocked the stuffing out of me, I want to attempt to regain some of the clarity of purpose and certainty I used to have.
FIFTEEN MINUTES A DAY Lots to do. Lots of old habits to erase and new ones to develop so I am going to start with 15 minutes a day. If I can only spend 15 minutes a day working on one goal, that is what I will do. Some days I will do more and some things will become automatic but all the little bits will add up and changes will come.
Thank you for reading.

It is easy MotherNerd to allow the stuffing to be knocked out of you. Standing up for yourself certainly helps build the self-confidence. Once you get a couple of "battles" under your belt successfully won then you get to be on a roll I find. I know that, after a couple of long hard "battles" I have had in my own life that I now react to anyone else trying to "battle" against me and be unfair to me in their treatment of me by thinking "Well, I won this major battle and that major battle, so I CAN do it and win this one too".
Doesn't mean to say that the person who is trying to be unfair to me/you in your battles wont be able to try and make me/you feel bad for standing up for ourselves and I/you will have to remind self that "Yes...what I wanted is something that I need/thought I already had/am perfectly entitled to" so must just accept that things have been put right and mustn't think any more of it and not let them "mess with my/your head" because they think we shouldn't have "won".
Yep..had another battle (minor level one) recently and it was darn hard fought/the other person was using most unfair tactics, but it came good...
Personally, I wouldn't want my "younger self" back.....because she was so naïve its painful to think of it and would have probably "thought the best" of Hitler even. My older self is MUCH more aware and much better able to foresee potential trouble coming and nip it in the bud. All that experience has, sometimes, been very hard-won.0 -
Mothernerd, you've put a lot of thought and effort into your list.
You have inspired me and made me remember that writing goals down means they are much more likely to be achieved.
This year I've been very woolly headed so far, with a few thoughts but no aims written down. Maybe that's a job for Saturday night, I have a new diary but not bothered to write in it yet.
Re wanting your younger self back...I can understand that, I would like parts of my younger self back, the part which was more enthusiastic about life. I too was too trusting and now have a much better "radar" for BS, but there just doesn't seem to be so much fun in life any more.
Off to work now, have a good weekend everyone.
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Good morning all!
I've got a rare day off work. So far the only plan has been have a lie in which I managed successfully (despite the bin men's best efforts!;)). Just pondering the rest of the day over a :coffee:
Have a good one

Thanks Mothernerd, I will, if it's ok with you print and put on my fridge door.
Very inspirational. X
I looked out into my garden this morning and a creature has attacked my recycling food bin and demolished what was left of the chicken. Just bits of bones lying around! Anyone have any ideas. It was fairly selective as other stuff left, but then it was mostly odd ball stuff.0 -
Morning Byatt - I would have thought perhaps a fox?0
-
I thought a Fox, but I thought they took away their haul, but I don't know. Anyway very little left, hardly any bones to speak of. It's never happened before.
Taken all the decks down, hoovered and Windows opened. Pretty mild today

Afternoon all. Byatt your food bin visitor could be a fox, a large cat or even a badger. My compost bin has been wrecked by a badger and it no longer has a door on it.
Well, I went to work today as normal and saw my line manager who told me to work today and tomorrow and then finish. I treated myself to some lunch first and used my discount card and then when it was nearly time to swipe in, I went upstairs. I went down to the caf! and was just putting my hairnet on when my line manager came to speak to me to say she was sorry but the store manager had told her that I needn't be there and I could go home. I did not particularly like the way in which it was done either because I was taken out of the kitchen area into the main caf! where I was on view for all the customers. My colleagues thought it was nasty. Actually 4 permanent members of staff handed their notices in today too - none of them like the store manager.
I decided that as I was finishing today that I would be a bit spendy and went and cleared my locker. I got my discount card and had a spend so my freezer is now stocked with Count on Us foods for those days when I don't fancy cooking. I then had to hand in my staff card, my discount card (which I had signed lol) and my locker key. There was £22 left on the discount card which I had hoped to be able to use tomorrow by shopping for clothes but alas it had to be handed in. I have to take my uniform back at some point but to be honest don't fancy making two bus trips just to return it.
