    Morning everyone

I had a lovely day yesterday with some friends - came home feeling really relaxed and chilled. Hoping to carry that through today... whilst trying not to think about a return to work tomorrow

It's been frosty overnight again - hope you are all keeping warm

    Afternoon all

Got up fashionably late. It was glorious and crisp this morning but now it is foggy and cold. I haven't even opened my dining room curtains mainly because the door to the garden is draughty despite my attempts to keep warm by adding a sticky foam excluder. At least the curtains cut down on the wind whistling through.

I have been planning my week so I will be doing housework, job hunting, the dreaded tax return, paying for my green waste collection (an annual thing). I might even bake because I have plenty of eggs that need using up.

Have a great relaxing day folks.:D
  • Mothernerd, I think your "15 for '15" are just brilliant - great goals, carefully thought through, logically set out, and (best of all) achievable. Please keep updating us each month!

Byatt, many thanks for the information about free OU courses, I'd completely missed that bit of Martin's weekly circular. Some of them are very tempting - if I don't sign up now I might do so later in the year for whatever is on offer then.

  • Thought i'd post a quick hello - based on the 1st post i might find this thread helpful/useful.
What came first, the music or the misery?
Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?

    Evening

I survived the first day back at work - it was actually quite painless... I'm sure it won't stay that was for long

It was quiet in here yesterday - were you all out having fun? If so, please share so we can all live vicariously :p

    Welcome LostSoulForever :)

Nope...not out having fun...working fingers to the bone, more like. Back to work with a vengeance :(

    :rotfl:

Actually, getting more f-f-f-f-fun is on my list of things for this year, or at least to laugh more. Am making myself smile loads...it does lift your mood, no doubt about it. :D

    Night night

I was busy doing nothing yesterday. I did venture onto another thread in OS all about coupons/lotto money and saving Pin money. One lady wrote about how in the 70's and her kids were small there were power cuts etc and money was tight but she always had a jar of what she called Happy Cash for treats - one day when it was particularly cold and she had had to walk to the depot with the kids in the pushchair to pick up a bag of coke, the kids sat on the coke sack on the way home and she stopped and bought a bag of doughnuts. Her kids still remember that time and look back fondly.

I started my Happy Cash jar today and used the money that I saved in the supermarket (so bogoffs - the savings go into the jar, if you use a coupon then that money goes into the jar and over time it builds up).

Had to smile today, I received a card from the newest little man in the family - my cousin's son Thomas. Thomas was born on 11 November according to the thank you card which is in the form of a postcard with a picture of him, his full name, weight and date of birth. He is very clever and had asked mummy to write on his behalf to say thank you for his present. Apparently he had seen it on Skype and couldn't wait to get his hands on it. He couldn't see his maternal grandparents on Boxing Day because he had been near some relatives on his father's side of the family who have chicken pox and as my uncle (his granddad) has cancer and is undergoing chemo it was deemed dangerous for them to meet. They have since met and I have seen a picture of them all together - I was quite shocked because my uncle looks dreadful but I didn't tell him that. At least he was smiling which is a good thing and I thought that he looked like Poppa (his dad, my granddad). I hope that being a granddad will give him strength to live to see his grandson grow up.

    No fun here either Bookworm
Had a cold since new year, I very rarely get colds, I can go for years without one, so my nose is really out of joint that I've succumbed to this one :rotfl:
Feeling a bit better today though, showered, hair done, perfume squirted :)

Spent the whole day yesterday waiting in for a parcel (not for me, for DS2, who doesn't live here, but my house is handy for deliveries as he's at work...you get the picture, mum'll do it!)
Tracking showed it was on van for delivery, didn't turn up. It's on the van again today, so another day staying in (it's important, so don't want to miss it). Usually get a good service from parcelforce, will hopefully hear later what went wrong yesterday.

Funny how as soon as I *have* to stay in, I immediately start itching to go out somewhere :rotfl: I had some equipment to pass to a work colleague, but he was happy to come to my house instead.
Will have to content myself doing some housework, I'm sure there's something I could be doing!

Oh, and reducing the fun even more...started dieting again yesterday, after a 3 month break. This will be the year I finally *finish* the diet as well...it will be, honest...

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

    Hello all.

My laptop got itself into a pickle this morning and wouldn't switch on just leaving me with a blue screen:mad: I eventually fixed it by removing it from the modem and switching on and it came on as normal..phew. I plugged the modem back in and voila.

I was a hardy soul this morning, I walked to the park for my Tai Chi class which started again today, it was bitterly cold and was even colder when it started to rain and the wind got up but we all carried on regardless. We eventually did a move called Parting the Clouds and as we did so a patch of blue sky appeared - we all laughed.

Having earache from a committee member who wants to organise events himself without any input from the rest of us. In the end, I have told him that it is his choice if he comes to the organising meeting or not and that if he does decide to organise events in the park by himself then he does so without our blessing and without the support of other local groups and I reminded him that he would have to pay the appropriate park hire fee too. He has got his knickers in a knot because we have dared ask for volunteers to help out and due to his years' of experience feels that he should do everything himself and this is not how we work. I was sneaky and blind copied the park manager into the email as well as other members of the committee. So let him organise his own stuff and pay the huge park hire fee, as he has already upset the park manager then she is unlikely to help him and will ensure that the maximum fee is extracted. We can organise our own stuff and not pay a park hire fee.:D

Suppose I had better start thinking about lunch - Tai Chi was a bit strenuous this morning. In other news I have received correspondence about my new free OU course which starts on Sunday, I was asked to complete a small pre-start survey. Can't wait.

I enjoying going to comedy nights as I always feel great after lots of laughing.
Having more fun sounds great too!

That happens to me too Ellie - most days can't force me out the house but on the odd time I have to stay in I suddenly think of all kinds of things that suddenly require going out :rotfl:
    Hope you are feeling better
