OS Singlies - We Do It Our Way!

That happens to me too Ellie - most days can't force me out the house but on the odd time I have to stay in I suddenly think of all kinds of things that suddenly require going out :rotfl:
That's exactly it BookWorm, I LIKE being at home, until you tell me I've got to stay in :rotfl: Like when you have a power cut, and suddenly you really really want to do the ironing!
Parcel van arrived about half 3, so nipped out to shops as DS2 invited himself and his friend for tea and didn't have much in. Also fitted in a quick visit to parents...got roped in to visiting my aunt later in the week to have "the big discussion" about what will happen to her flat and belongings now she's in a care home. Oh that should be fun, she could procrastinate for Britain!
I do enjoy a night out to see a comedian...my 2 favourites I've seen so far are Dave Spikey and Craig Hill. Craig Hill picks out members of the audience to sit at the front and talk to him, hilarious if it's not you, normal people can be very funny sometimes :rotfl:
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -

Hope you are feeling better
Like staying up past midnight. Happens by accident when you plan a nice early night. Impossible on NYE... :cool:0 -
Me, I'm thankful the Christmas/New Year bit is over...as that tends to be a quiet time for singlies I feel (with people focusing more on families and, in areas like I've moved to, that tends to mean a lot of regular community things not happening:().
Back to normal now and Qi Gong classes starting up again today and will be taking some cake to share (ie as I had an expected little soiree with friends yesterday and the pleasant surprise was that one of them had made a cake specially for me:)). Nice to know that people have been thinking of you and doing something for you that you weren't expecting:T. Other exercise class starting up again shortly. Volunteering things starting up again. :T. That's more like it...0 -
Hi all,
I've not posted lately but am still here. Made a couple of batches of soup yesterday and being a singlie I now have enough soup to last at least the month :rotfl:
Not much else to report from the middle of the field where I live except that I'm in 'trying to declutter' mode as I want to put the house on the market soon, (in 85 days to be more precise). I have a lot of storage space and even more clutter so it's a long haul and as a natural horder it's quite stressful too, but at least this time I want to do it.
Sorry for the waffle but I just wanted to check in here. :beer:Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

dND It can be stressful de-cluttering that much is true. You could perhaps have a garage sale (do they have them in France?) to get rid of some of the clutter and that way you will have money in your pocket for your new home.
I had my last ever appointment at the work programme today - what a bunch of buffoons! I got the waffle about the jobcentre thinking that the work programme provider has failed - to which I reminded them that they had failed to find me permanent work. Then the advisor started with the scare tactics - saying that I must use the Universal jobmatch website as it was a requirement of signing on - I told him that he was wrong and that the jobcentre know I don't use this site and the reasons why I don't use it plus it is not a legal requirement. It isn't my fault I haven't got a job - I apply for loads but due to age, disability etc I am not getting anywhere so it is not for want of trying.
I received a letter from the jobcentre today and I had to ring them saying that my benefit had stopped due to my earnings, I explained that the job has now finished and I would keep showing my payslips to the jobcentre as I am due a final payment in 2 weeks' time. They told me that I was doing the right thing and should explain this when I go and sign on so that I don't come off their books and when the final payment has been received, I can start receiving JSA again. They were very helpful.
I was due to go out tonight but decided that it was too cold out there to stand around at bus stops. I shall go out another night. I have started de-Christmas-fying my house. The frond and lights have disappeared from my mantelpiece to be replaced by the rose LED light string that I was given for my birthday (maybe it should go on my bed but I would rather they were on the mantelpiece where I can have more enjoyment from them). The LED lights have been packed away and all the tinsel has been put away too - I need to strip the tree of ornaments and lights now and pack the whole thing away in its box.
Will nip to the village tomorrow - I need to take a prescription to my GP and there is a shop in the village that is closing down. It is a shame because they have only been open 6 months but I think they can't make up their minds what they are because they sell clothes and have a coffee shop inside. The shop is always dark and never looks open which is probably why they haven't had many customers, it was also a bit pricey. I might nip into the shop and see what they have that fits, looks fab and is cheaper.0 -
A belated Happy New Year.
Hope everyone ok, we a nice break over New yr, thou it was funny, for new yrs day we went to Mcdonalds - free internet - dd and i were just glued to the phones as thou we had never seen internet before, daft how much you rely on them.
Back to the hospital run this week, dads weight still increasing, he put on just under 2lbs this 3 week rotation, but his bloods were all over the place, so we had to go back up Tuesday for a blood transfusion, - those chairs were so comfy i had a nap. It was nice as the unit gave the visitors lunch as well.
We're all still recovering from chest bugs, think have to bite the bullet and go to the doctors.
I should really get my rear into gear, - theres a 1001 things to do, but I dont have the energy to do them, but am being creative and knitting my 1st xmas present a kids xmas jumper xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I'm thinking about that Horace, but need to de-clutter enough space first :rotfl:. And I am serious about that, I can barely get in the house at the moment as I have everything out being sorted. I thought about using the barn but over winter that is on standby in case I need to get the alpacas in fast and I need the floor space to throw the hay bales into from the hay loft. And as we singlies know, things take time when you are the only one doing it. I have found a FB group selling stuff locally and there is an online free ads site too so will start listing stuff on there.
It also sounds like the bureaucracy in the UK is getting as bad as in France. Here I get the feeling a sweeping bit of policy is put in place but then they find they've forgotten to take into consideration one aspect so they add a patch, that then affects something else so another patch is applied and so it continues. Eventually no-one has any idea what the policy really does or how to apply it.Congratulations on sticking to your guns and getting what you should Horace. :T In some ways the Internet really has freed us, even if we sometimes feel shackled to it at other times.
Hope you are feeling better soon Mum2one, sounds like it's been a stressful 'break' for you .
And I agree MITSTM, there is just so much family hype round Christmas which actually takes away from the family too, (makes people feel they can discharge all family duties by turning up one day in the year with an expensive present - yes I'm getting more and more cynical with age-). Once all the sale hype dies down, things should get back to normal at least until the next bit of hype comes along!!

Wowsers - the weather has done a complete turn around, yesterday it was bitterly cold and today it is warm and sunny. Just back from the village, dropped my prescription request off at the doctors, bought some batteries in the hardware shop (it is probably a bit more expensive than using a huge hardware chain but it is local and run by local people). I wandered up to the shop that was closing down - I spent my Christmas money in there. Fed up of feeling frumpy so I bought myself a ruffle neck polo jumper reduced from £19.50 to £15, a pair of very blingy earrings reduced from £20 to £10 and a gorgeous purple shoulder bag reduced from £32.50 down to £20.00 - it has plenty of zipped pockets to deter handbag dippers. It would seem that they had a bad Christmas which is why they are closing - I also think that the footfall is not that great because it is further up the main drag where there are fewer shops and people only wander up there if they are going to the post office.
I also went to the local hospice shop and bought a large teapot for £2.50 and then it was over the road to the cheap shop for a 2ltr bottle of baby sterilising fluid for £1 (I use this instead of bleach). The teapot is now soaking in the sink because it hadn't been cleaned by the shop and they swear by this cheap sterilising fluid because it doesn't taint.
Back to the job search. TTFN0 -
A panic of 24hrs dad had a turn for the worse last ngt so from midnight been non stop - he ended up being admitted to a&e as there was no beds available as he needed a side room so from 3am to 5.30am sat in a&e left him there was awaiting chest X-ray, he phoned mid afternoon he was ready to come home - they hadn't found him a bed they had moved into to an intake unit and left him in the waiting room with other patients - so much for being in a sterlie area. He's got a chest infection so now on antibiotics and had a antibiotic infusion. Now can't take his chemo tablets so back to the hosp 2mor and Monday - so fingers crossed in all directions.
Had Dd iN a state so she hasn't been to school today back 2mor and she has her first cookery lesson - fruit salad - there's me in Mr t getting 1 Apple, pear, banana, grapes xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Sorry to hear about your dad Mum2One - there seems to be a lot of chest infections about, a bit bad of the hospital to dump him in a waiting room full of germ ridden patients though.
I hope your DD is ok now and that she enjoys her cookery lesson tomorrow.
I have just paid for my green waste collections - for some reason the council website keeps reverting to my old address, then it told me that my address was outside of Birmingham, when I did manage to log in, I then had to provide a load of personal information eg. age, gender, ethnicity, religion, whether I was gay, straight, bisexual, asexual etc. etc. Needless to say I refused to answer because I don't see what that has to do with green waste recycling. I got charged £33 instead of £35 and I know that my neighbour will give me some money towards the bin (they refuse to have their own so they share mine).
It is sign on at the sausage factory day tomorrow. I really must crack on with the timebank creation and book a room for the launch next month:eek:0
