Went surprisingly well, thanks all.
Parents seemed shocked, but also seemed pleased that we're doing this amicably and as peacably as we will be able to manage.
One of his sisters has been really upset about it, the other has a phone message to call us. My sister wasn't at all surprised, but also glad it is a mutual decision. My sister lives closest of all of them, so understandable why it wasn't a huge surprise to her.Not heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

Have you ever thought of one of those 'Keysafes' that is situated at the side of your Front Door?
They are very secure and can only be opened by using the correct 'Keycode' that YOU decide on - and can change whenever you want to. It does mean that you only need ONE SPARE KEY instead of a few people having one each. Added advantage of you being able to use it yourself in case you're ever locked out / lose your own keys.
This is the one that I have had fitted - you can have it placed somewhere a bit inconspicuous (ie behind your bins / around the rear of your property) if you feel uncomfortable with having it directly next to your front door.
Hi, LilyPlonk
Just wanted to say thank you for the heads up on these. I haven't ordered the one that you have highlighted (simply because it seems it is possible to inadvertently change a combination code - possibly unlikely but some reviewers have had problems), but it has pointed me in the direction of others. With my vouchers, mine has cost me 81p...so not bad :T
Now I just need to find a (wo)man with a drill to put the thing up...0 -
Evening all
I've been away for a couple of days to visit my parents. They live about 120 miles away from me and I always feel rested and recharged after seeing them. Decided on Friday whilst at work that I needed to get away.
I see things have been zipping along round here... :T taken me quite a while to catch up.

I had problems with the combination slipping - but I do now have the necessary kit for dealing with that! (CBA to get another one and get it put up at the moment. But I must make sure that the bits for sorting the combination out are somewhere sensible. And give my brother a set of keys...)0 -

metherer, I'm glad things went fairly well for you today. All the best for this new period of your life.
Another quiet day for me. Could have done with sleeping longer but my mother came around to [STRIKE]visit[/STRIKE] get me to go food shopping with her at 9ish. Once she was gone, did nothing more demanding than cooking carrot and coriander soup for lunches this week and veggie stirfry for dinner. Managed to go another day without absentmindedness nearly getting me in to huge trouble!0 -

Not had time to post this wee!Have decided to stop drinking wine- 1 bottle/week as a bit expensive for my budget.Instead bought elderflower cordial this week and large bottle of fizzy water to dilute- in ornate glass.Almost tastes like Prosecco(sniff) -plenty cordial left for next week.
Have ancient hand-crank sewing machine which I love using.A friend said to me recently-half joking- that she fancied an old fashioned wrap over apron,so I managed to get a pattern.Picture on front shows war-time lady wielding a mop like a weapon:D Have cut out and nearly finished sewing.Decided I should do a bit of housework,so thought I should pin up my hair in a turban scarf like the pinny lady to get into the spirit-probably frightened next doors cat:) Helped motivate me,though.
Have finally tamed the pressure cooker aka Hissin' Sid!Managed to make some chicken broth without decorating kitchen ceiling with it.Just took a few shots at it to get used to working it-worth persevering as really cuts cooking time.
Hope everyone sleeps well and has a good week:AWe are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.Oscar Wilde xxx:A0
