  • Morning All,

Lovely lovely lovely 9 hrs sleep here. My goodness I needed it, and thoroughly enjoyed it :). It's so rare to sleep so well...bliss!

I've prepp'd a load of veges and my pork for later, and have used up my ood eggs by scrambling them for breakfast. Bloomin delicious.

Now trying very hard to motivate myself to go out. I need to check on lottie (in the rain...glad I decided not to join the walking group), and get bird seed...I've been trying to eke it out until payday so I don't get tempted by lottie goodies in the garden centre, but I will run out before next weekend, so I have to make the trip out....I will NOT come back with seed potatoes and compost etc...;)

This afternoon...I'm determined to button my bloomin will down, so that tomorrow I can ring a local solicitor and get this sorted once and for all (well for now, anyway, given that it will change slightly over the years). I have a much better idea of what I want to do, after our discussions earlier in the week, so it's just a matter of consolidating those thoughts by getting it scribbled on paper, so I don't forget anything important while I'm with the solicitor.

That's my plan...better get dressed and on with it :T

    LB xx

Thanks for the link to the '100 Things you don't need a man to do' book - have just ordered it myself as well. ............... only 10 left now :j.
  • Way to go:T

Maybe we ought to have a group song. There's a very obvious one - try googling "Sisters are doin' it for themselves" by the Eurythmics on YouTube.

The video with it says it all really.

We got it good gals compared to many women in the world. We owe it to ourselves to get on in there and Make A Life for Ourselves. We haven't got to cope with things like wearing yashmaks, having female genital mutilation, being told we aren't allowed to get educated or drive just because of our sex.

That's what its about imo. Not going out there and wearing skirts halfway up our !!! and seeing if we can outdrink men but Making A Life for ourselves and making sure we make the best of our hard-won right to one.:T

LIR, I will probably look into it when I retire, I am a pet sitter by trade at the moment.

Do you know if the Cinnamon Trust have insurance, as I know there are more risks with dogs than cats, biting someone for instance or attacking another dog. Not to put anyone off, but these days you need cover for all sorts of stuff which at one time you could do without a lot of thought. I remember as a child going around the neigbours asking if I could take their dog for walk

No idea, but any one interested could ask them. They are well funded I think, and probably have access to good legal advice.
My In house lawyer ( the DH ;)) has never had a problem with me walking other people's dogs. I also work with animals of a different sort for a living and have public liability for that and have to be really aware of my clients in that sort of situation and disclaimers and stuff.

Fwiw we have one dog who I regretfully describe as 'defensive'. After a number of unauthorised entries in to the farm she started building up a collection of denim from intruders's jeans :o which she kept, hoarded and brooded over.

DH and I spoke to the local police as we were concerned that were one of her 'attacks' to be more against buttock than jean pocket she would be in trouble, as would we. We were astounded at how supportive the police have been. Because they have attended a couple f the unauthorised entries they have a note to watch out for that dog and her name on file. ( they can address her by name to reassure her if needed) I also have the much debated dog signs out, and the police are entirely on my side about this, as are my insurers.

, she's as good as gold anywhere else, but I wouldn't risk her going with any one else just in case. The other two are dolls. I suspect the biggest risk is someone might fall in love with them, :rotfl::cool:

Afternoon all, thanks for all the kind words. Am intending to show OH this thread too, as I think it will come in useful.

Telling the parents this evening. Just spoken to mother and invited them both down for dinner at our favourite Cantonese, so we can break it to them - the reason for going out is that we don't want a scene and mother is very anti making a scene about anything in public.

He'll then ring his mother (neither of us have any desire to see her face to face) and from there, our siblings etc. The joys.

Sad as it sounds, I'm really looking forward to living on my own again. Everytime he's been in hospital, I've dreaded him coming home again as my peace and quiet (and tidiness) would be shattered. That is no way to feel about your partner.
Not heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.
    Baby due July 2018.

LavenderBees I don't know if you have a regular Solicitor, but when I moved here, needed to make a new will so rang a couple of solicitors to enquire about cost, one was about half the price of the other, both local well established firms with several branches.

Painting motivation seems to have got up and left as so tired. this week i'm mixing working days and nights due to training which really messes with your sleep cycle....so seeing as I don't have to rush doing it i'm giving myself until this saturday to have it completed.

It's end of week 3 of my pay, this is the weekend I always go sniffing around the various money pots and work out what i'll need for the last week and shift money about that is spare into the savings one......which if isn't used for a while then goes into the serious saving one that I don't really allow myself to touch. Really pleased as have managed to put some into the -don't touch' one .....yay.

Next month will have to be very frugal I imagine as pay will be terrible due to being off in December with arm op etc, so i'm in the process of working out what is in my fridge so I don't need to buy any more food and be able to save this week's money towards next month's expenditures, which I think I should be able to do using up eggs for breakfasts, and veg and chicken for various soups...(also better for the waist-line ).

These are the days I love as a singlie....just pottering about sorting whatever comes into your head and having no-one to answer to/entertain/cook for a certain time...etc. Asbo also loves these days as they involve a lot of bed-love, food, pottering around from room to room which she loves and general laziness....i am SO coming back as a cat.

Hope everyone having a good day.

I'm going to google that 'sisters are doing it' version.....and I think a group song is a grand idea......we could all be playing it at some point.....and have it playing all over the country at the same time!.......lol. when people have a birthday, or something to celebrate (moneystooshorttomentions house being finished) , when times of support are needed.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Metherer, sometimes the telling others is harder than coming to the decision because while you two know what's going on others either haven't got a clue or turn a blind eye to it. Telling them together at least shows it's a mutual decision so hopefully they will recognise that it's what you both need.

There are going to be ups and downs, (family and friends may take sides but that's usually because they want to protect you), but if you can still talk to each other and work it out as best you can you'll get there. I'm sure there are plenty singlies on here with much more horrific break up tales than mine, along with even more who have managed to get through it in a much more civilised fashion.

And don't forget we're all here to help with our tales of success (or not, but then the failures are usually amusing) on life as a singlie :D

All the fun things gone then... :rotfl:

100% agree btw, it's about making the best of what we've got in whatever way we want to. Everytime I come back from a "developing country", I am always so glad I was born in the UK, and that other brave women have fought to get me my rights today. We owe it to ourselves to do the best we can...

BigJenny thanks for reminding me to shop around for a solicitor. I needed that nudge as for swiftness, I was madly considering just ringing one tomorrow lunchtime...it'll only take a few more minutes to ring 3 and compare what they say ...

Well, the seed potatoes are happily sitting in my front porch to chit...yeah, yeah, the seed potatoes I wasn't going to buy, along with the compost and a few sale items , and for the first time today, I am sitting down with a cuppa. I don't know where the weekends go! Am starving hungry, so have the dinner on, and will start the will work after I've eaten. I need a rest first.

My oven is still smoking the house out badly ...The oven cleaning fairies haven't been round yet :o
