Evening all. Thanks LB for this shiny new thread.

It has been set up in perfect time for me. My marriage hasn't been going well for a while, lots of stress that neither of us need, and so we had a long conversation this morning with the outcome that we are going to aim to have the house ready to sell by the end of March, and separate. We hope to remain friends, as quite honestly that is what we've been for a few years now rather than husband and wife (even if that is our legal status).

So, am going to have to start thinking about the practicalities of living on my own again. Soooo much to think about!

Ah, yes! A tough time indeed, even if you do manage to remain friends, it's tough. Be kind to yourself, and take your time. Big Hug!

What LB hasn't admitted to is that her lunch plate was pretty much entirely fried.....

    Tell Tale T!t :o

    :rotfl:

Wasn't my fault...it didn't SOUND fried on the menu. TBH, I'd have preferred a salad meself :(

Just had a peek at what interesting and useful DIY type courses may be on offer at my local college, and there are none :(

And my local B&Q doesn't offer any either

I am doomed to remain fairly useless at DIY ...

Can I recommend a book? 101 things you don't need a man for. It is a DIY book aimed at girl singlies, but OH thought it was useful too. There is a sequal which deals with outdoor jobs too.

When we finally part ways we are going to make sure we both have a copy of each.
Not heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.
    Baby due July 2018.
  • I always thought salad was just there too make the food look pretty, you know, like that sprig of parsley you frequently get, didn't realise you were meant to eat it  Could explain the shape I'm in :rotfl:

Glad you had a lovely afternoon meet up, being singlies does not mean being sad, lonely and freaky
  • Metherer, it will be better in the end... just hold on to that thought. Even when it's for the best, it's still hard to do.

Keep posting, and remember you're in the company of others who've got through the sadness and made a new life.

    Hugs from me too xx
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

That looks like a good book to have, thanks for the tip.

Being singlie does take getting used to and if you can remain friends that is good. Often (from experience) this is hard at first and gets better as time goes on. An ex and myself are friends and your situation sounds similar to mine.... but it still had its teething problems at first...and still does now if he tries to tell me what to do or criticises things I do.......you would have thought he would have learnt by now...?....lol. But it is possible to remain friends.

Well, I knew it was going to happen one day, and it has. Rushing upstairs to go to loo.....sleeve of onesie got half chucked into toilet....and have pee'd on onesie sleeve....onesie is now off.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • iamamumtoone and singlestep, the B&Q free DIY courses have been mentioned before, but they are well worth another mention!

They really are very good, not only in showing you exactly how to do things (and letting you practise them yourself under professional supervision), but also in giving you simple tips of the I'd-never-have-thought-of-that kind.

And no obligation to buy anything, either!

It seems that there is a cost attached to the B&Q courses ,although it is quite reasonable - courses start from £10, and are available in the 15 stores shown on this website:

Thank you - I have ordered a copy from Amazon for the princely sum of £2.81 :D

Good luck with your separation - I hope things work out well for you both.

Have just googled that book, and obviously a few other 101 things came up.....anyone read the 101 ways to respect your husband..?!

    A) would be what most people would do respecting anyone...but the funniest thing is they could list 10....lol.
