Oh dear, I think I'm getting jealous of you single girls :D, spent 10 years as one then met my now partner, but I think I lived on my own for too long, :A
Treat other's how you like to be treated.

    Harry born 23/09/2008
New baby grandson, Louie born 28/06/2012,
Proud nanny to two beautiful boys :j
And now I have the joy of having my foster granddaughter becoming my real granddaughter. Can't ask for anything better

    UPDATE,
As of today 180919. my granddaughter is now my official granddaughter, adoption finally granted
  • Afternoon all, how can it be nearly Sunday evening already?! It's definitely staying lighter now though, yay. Did do a reply earlier but managed to lose it so coming back for another go...

Can't remember who said what (brain shutdown clearly) but agree with making sure we give ourselves a break when unwell - after all nobody else is going to. And I also have cats who only like to drink from the running bathroom tap when I'm in there....
Metherer, hope the news-breaking goes ok, I think feeling relieved about the decision you've made says a lot.
    Live Down south here :)

After a big drumming event last night I am having a quiet day today, involving food & lazing :) American style pancakes & maple syrup for late breakfast, then cooked my first roast beef in years - it's always been the thing I avoid as the last one I did was like old shoe leather, so gave it another go as all my girls & one boyfriend (theirs not mine) were around for food. Came out ok although no pinkness in the middle as I hoped but still quite tender. Then yummy rhubarb crumble for pud :) And found Runaway Bride to watch on tv :) Wallow in the bath a bit later too I think.

DIY stuff - I'm lucky enough to be able to call on my little (age 30, lol,) brother to help with & in return I help him with budgeting. Overhauled my own last weekend as I'd lost track over the past couple of months & had an 'eek' moment when I logged into my online banking last weekend... One of the downsides of being a Singlie - the only source of money coming in :( So have set monthly cash amounts for "spending" & groceries, and everything else forecast for about the next 8/9 months on MSMoney, then add in any extras as I go along. Means I can see what I should or shouldn't have, plus can plan in building up some savings slowly & maybe even small mortgage overpayments too. Also need to get meal planning & tell all kids I need to know when they're eating here or not! (Otherwise I sound like my mother saying "you treat this place like a hotel..!!).

Anyhow, waffling now, time for a cuppa, a bit more forum reading & get the towels in off the line (took advantage of the strange yellow ball in the sky today!).
Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!):p

  • Just got distinctly distracted there...American pancakes with maple syrup:drool:. Maybes with some canned apricots or peaches and a bit of Greek yogurt?:drool::drool:.

    Notched up for future reference...:)

    Good Evening all !!

So my dreaded, long early shift is done for another week !!
I work every Sunday for around 12 hours and hate it with a passion, the only positive is that thats a 1/4 of my week done :)

Treated myself to a bottle of wine and a new notebook on the way home, as I'm starting an online course later in the week - not sure if I read about the instructors on here - called 'FUTURELEARN' and the cousrse I'm doing is 'Good Brain,Bad Brian', not sure if it's going to be too high level, but hey, it's for free so will jump in feet first.

Note to self and others reading - do NOT buy the red leiceister and pumpkin seed bread from co-op . . you will not stop at 1 slice, and as it was reduced from £1.79 to 30p why would you want to !!

Feet up, Jamas on, wine chilled now where's me manservant to cut and butter more bread for me !!!

    Laters

    MMx
  • Red Leicester and pumpkin seed bread:). Hmmm....now wonders whether I could make something like that for myself? I may just be off for a quick google.

How can you tell I'm in cooking mode at the moment?:rotfl: The slowcooker is going trying out that red pepper/almond/etc sauce mentioned on a certain fashionable blog of the moment and I've got some butternut squash baking ready for a batch of soup from that....:)

Do excuse me...think it must be down to kitchen rejigging going on at the moment and I'm currently doing a lot of standing there contemplating exactly what could go where and how to "operate" said Rejigged Kitchen best...

Looks like everyone had a nice Sunday. I had lots of odds and sods on my 'to do' list and managed to complete them all by 11am. Took the grandchildren for a nice long walk along the beach as the weather was so good (I even had to wear my sunglasses) , brought them some chips from the chippy on the prom and then proceeded to eat all the left overs :D they were lush! And covered in salt and vinegar. I never usually eat chips, but can't seem to resist when walking down the beach  they taste soooo much better.
I then came home and done some batch cooking (chilli X 4 and risotto X4) so that's eight dinners sorted (and in the freezer) for the next month. Had a nice little nap :rotfl: and now waiting for quiche to heat up to have with salad.
I love my life - but have to remind myself of this when I'm struggling to make my one wage stretch a bit further, worrying about something, or when I'm feeling alone or lonely........

Hope you all have a good week whatever you are up to ;)

Glad to hear everyone's had a good day. Also hope that the telling of family has gone well Metherer, :A

It's been a nice sunny day here too. Got my shopping from Mr A. then went out in the garden to tidy up. In true OS style, i've reused the slats of wood from the old fence panels in between the raised beds. It gets sooo muddy there that I've slipped over many a time and landed on my arris!

i've also divided some bamboo plants into three and replanted in different places. Dug up the blackberry bushes after breaking a tooth last year on blackberry pips.

Since Mr henrescuer is also doing some odd jobs in the house - most rooms actually, I thought I'd better give them all a good going over.

Put a chicken in to roast with some parsnips I dug up earlier - so have just had that.

Now getting cross watching the awful Jason being rude to people. Wish he would bog off.

Call the Midwife is on later so all in all, a good viewing evening.
