Just popping in to say Hi guys.
Still haven't had time to catch up to be honest and back at work from tomorrow.......3 shifts this week, and then that's it...full time again...!!!!
Am dreading it as have loved part time.....really loved part time. I must find a way to make it viable for the future...and not too distant either.
Hope all are well, and will do catch up at work if I get the chance to get time on the computers for stuff other than work.
Part time work is wonderful if you can afford to take the pay cut. I'm dropping a day when I go back to work next week which I'm really pleased about as I just couldn't go on working 30 hours & do everything else with no support - it was making me ill. I've done the sums so in theory it'll work out OK even if its going to be tight, but I think it'll be scary when I actually see my payslip next month.
What I need to remember though is that my day off isn't for spending money - a few friends have said they're free for coffee & cake, or suggested we go to the cinema etc. All sounds lovely but I didn't allow for a hectic spending day when I did my sums.
I hope it works out for you CC & you can find a way to work part time for along as you want to.MummyBobble wrote: »JKS don't get me going on school stuff . Went to town yesterday with DS. Trousers - nothing in the right colour, shoes - found the one's he liked, every size but his, shirts - doesn't like them but tough, luckily blazer still just about fits (I'm thinking that as he'll be 14 in three weeks he may well wake up one morning about a foot taller than he is now so it'll do), school have introduced a new PE kit (which to be fair is far better than the old one, and they do have a year before it has to be replaced), random bits from geometry sets to be replaced, calculator needs new batteries, trainers, tennis shoes, football boots...
Harder though is DD starting college next week so no uniform. I've told her she may have to do her own washing and ironing because I'm not running around the night before when she decides what she's wearing (have now decided that school uniform actually makes life much easier). Refused to buy her any college supplies until after her induction day next week when I suspect she is likely to come home with lists of what she needs (especially as she is taking A-level art, the list of equipment we had to buy for her GCSE art was around £100 ). Still can't quite get my head around my little girl being big enough for college
Think that's me done for the night, winds howling and rain lashing down.
Have a good night folks x
.
My DD is also doing GCSE art, so I'd better start saving
Have managed to get school shoes for DS (£42 ) & DD's ones from last term still fit her thankfully. DS's trousers seem to get smaller each week, so I may need to do another shopping trip later today. Found an excellent pair of football boots for £4 in a CS :T but trudged all around yesterday trying to find grey trousers for DD without any luck. Most school uniform shops only went up to age 13-14 (& she's not unusual in being a size 14/16) but even looking in adult shops wasn't successful. So she'll have to wear skirts & tights as that's all we have that fits her. I hate clothes shopping.
Think your right about college & your DD - I don't think my DD will ever get out of the door if she's allowed to choose what she wants to wear each day :rotfl:. I much prefer school uniform, & did when I was at school. I came from a very poor family & many girls were much better off so I'd have hated having to wear my own stuff every day.
Mum2one - glad to hear your Dad is improving.
LL - glad you're finding your way through this difficult time, & have a dodgy :grouphug:
Right - loads to do & not much time left to do it all in. Did I ever share with all of you that I'm a procrastinator& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

I think I might start being a procrastinator but not today, I will get round to it one day
I'm glad my kids have all left school and college. Art is definitely an expensive subject and also requires a lot of extra work out of school/college.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Mummybobble.......lol...I love the sound of your DS at around 8. I think he sounds really funny.
My friends little boy is like this and I think he's brilliant. He once asked me one day would I rather be an elastic band or a cheese crisp...!!....lol. So we went on to have a conversation about this discussing my reasons for my answer. The mother was just shaking her head...at both of us.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Calicocat, I think that questioning minds are what take us forward and he will go on to do great things, (funnily enough DS did ask me recently, if I was a potato would I rather be served as a jacket or cut up and made into chips? This discussion went on for hours with lots of "yes buts"...) Or maybe we're just a little bit bonkers :rotfl:0

Afternoon all.
I woke up sniffly this morning so rang mum and said that I wasn't going round this afternoon - don't want to pass anything on to dad. I did go out for a walk and put my wellies on but forgot my thick socks so ended up with a blister. Once again I walked around the park but instead of going down a slippery bank to get to a flatter part, I opted to walk along the road and then cut back in and I discovered an apple tree so I picked some - ate one and chucked the core into the wood. I will go out later (taking advantage of the closed road) and pick some more - you can't beat a nice crisp apple straight off the tree and they taste even better when they are free:D. I will take a Tupperware pot too because I know where there are some ripe blackberries - maybe I can feel a crumble coming on.

I'm starting to realise that - DD just gave me a letter that's been festering in her school bag about a trip to an art gallery - so I need to send in another voluntary donation. It isn't expensive, & its to a gallery that we'd struggle to get to on public transport, so I'm glad she'll get the chance to go - I just fear its the first of many trips. She did mention something about a trip to the Louvre next year

Thanks for that - never shop there so never think to check. They're out of stock at the moment (why would they need to carry extra stock at the end of August :wall:) but I'll keep checking.
I shall also take a sneaky look at TAB next time I'm in a shop. I hope the fame won't go to your head :rotfl:..... Oh, crumble sounds lovely& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin
