Evening peeps
MB - glad to hear your daughter departed safely. I'm the same that I try and make a special point of giving good feedback/compliments these days as often feels like complaints are the only type given.
Mum2one - sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope you get some good news soon x
MITSTM - I had an extended stay with friends overseas a couple of years ago and we all paid for ourselves on any day-trips that we went on. I paid for a number of meals out for them as they provided the food at home. I also bought them gifts which I gave them before I left. On the times I used the car, I also returned it with a full tank of petrol. None of it was asked for but they told me afterwards it was all appreciated. I dunno if that helps you or not....
Not much news to report from me. Just been minding my own business and getting through work. Definitely seems to be a struggle right now. Find that what little motivation I have is harder to retain when the weather is nice!
Another non user of FB here too. I can honestly say I've never had an account nor felt like I wanted one either!

I have a faceache account but only because DS3 showed me where to find games. I only like simple ones where I help baby pandas (whilst their mother stands at the side and shrugs) - just matching and moving really.
However I only had four people as friends - my eldest son, my niece and her partner (they just put up pictures of lost cats and their holidays) and one of the homeless kids we took in a few years ago.
Some of the games try to get you to pay for things to help you advance. The only other way to advance is to ask 'friends' for help (the idea being that you get them hooked on the game too). So I am now permanently logged into my youngest sons account on my laptop, as he has a number of friends who play the games I do (otherwise I would only have the first 40 levels to play). I know how to log out of his account but am not sure how to get back into mine or if I could get back to his when I wanted to (and my niece and my eldest son are on his friends list so I get occasional snippets).
I also find it entertaining (in the same way I find s*x and shopping novels amusing) to wonder at people whose 'problems' are in a whole different realm to mine eg where is the money for the next pizza coming from, why can't I find a nice boyfriend.
I wouldn't want a nice boyfriend. Been watching a documentary about 'hellraisers' - Richard Harris, Oliver Reed, Peter O'Toole, George Best, Alex Higgins. All icons of my youth (along with the Tetley bitter men), great fun and wonderful to have around for a while but you wouldn't want to keep one in your house, would you?My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Mummybobble........hope DD has a fab time, i'm sure she will, lucky girl.
Mum2one......sending good wishes to your Dad, and dodgy hug to you.xxYep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Well i've been a busy bee. I have finally finished painting barbie room white....only taken a year from start to finish.....lol.
Bought what I thought was a carpet (admittedly cheap) ...to find when I got it home that it does in fact look more like a thick Krap material......!?!?. I have never seen carpet like this before..! It's for a room that won't get that much use, but I have no idea how this stuff actually works as carpet and feel it could end up being a waste of money....i shall see when it's down if this stuff is even usable. I guess whatever it is it will last for a few years then I can get something of better quality (it would be hard to get worse). At least it isn't bright pink.
I bought some fence paint a while ago..called harvest brown. Began to brush some onto my table........harvest brown my arris....it's ruddy orange!!. So, wiped that off, and oiled table instead, which now looks amazing compared to how it did look. Now just got 4 chairs to go....which will take ages.
Will have to take fence paint back and pretend I got the wrong colour, as need to do the decking too while the weather is good.
If I have time whilst i'm part time the intention is to oil chairs a couple of times, do decking (and fencing hopefully) . Get 'carpet' down in spare room, find curtains and accessories/mirror I like for dining room, paint bed side drawers white to match rest of room......and if I can get this done in the next two weeks.....chill my last part time week.
It's meant to be sun sun sun here today, so will plough on with doing the chairs and the decking if I get time as back at work tomorrow, only for two shifts, so I can't complain.
Have a good day folks.
Oh, and mothernerd......they are best off kept in a cupboard so you can let them out when you want to.
Anyone remember that kids programme where a bloke would go into a changing room and come out wearing 'whatever' (can't remember the name of it right now)....anyhow, that's what we need. you stand outside the cupboard and say...."i need you to be an electrician/plumber/chef/vet/mechanic..today".....and hey presto.....he walks out......lol.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Lulabelle, hope things go well for you. I've made more mistakes than I care to think about, generally I think because I want to live in a world where everyone is kind and genuine and try to believe the best of them. Unfortunately it doesn't always work. Still try to see the good in folk until they prove otherwise though (the world would be a sad place if we didn't).
Mum2one. Hugs and hopes that your dad is getting the treatment he needs.
I joined f@cebook when DD did to keep an eye on her (she could only have an account if I was her friend and had her login details). I do have friends on there who have to post everything (often with photos - "here we are getting ready to go to the shopping centre", "on our way to the centre", "on our way back from the centre", "back home from the centre"...). I generally use it just to post good news to let extended family know how wonderful DD and DS are, but it is very easy to be drawn into stalking people...
As for internet dating, I tried it a few years back and the ex came up as a perfect match. Made me instantly realise not to believe a word of what anyone had written about their self because his was a load of b@llocks! :rotfl:
Must try to do something useful with my time during the summer holidays, but for now I think tea and toast are called forHave a great day all xx
