  • Well a tad windy here but no sign of any hurricane. DS disappointed :rotfl: and I can't yet use my favourite quote "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." :D

Hope all those who are having to travel/go about their usual business have safe journeys. I'm just contemplating a take away for breakfast! How bad is that???

Lol......what kind of takeaway do you have for breakfast..?

Apparently you can get takeaway sunday lunches (no idea if you can where I live).....but that sounds quite good for real sloth days....i wonder if you can hire someone to wash the plate and cutlery after....or you could maybe eat it in the the container it comes in......lol....Duhhh.

It's really windy here now, someone had tied my bin down by my gate (thanks whoever you are), the greenhouse is in bits and the plastic cover off it, barbecue cover is off and flying round garden, if it wasn't meant to be raining in a bit I would have made myself do coat two on decking as would dry really quickly in this weather. Every forecast I look at says different things which is pretty annoying......to paint or not to paint.....

Got mixed up with my weeks, the tidy police are coming next week, so a few days to sort stuff out, and get material....no, carpet, put down....lol.

EDIT......have done another coat on the decking in the hope that it either dries before rain, or rain doesn't appear.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

And you'd have dust all over your painting...as well as paint all over you. Honestly, it's not a good idea to paint in this weather. I've just been to A$DA to get some cabbages for the girls, and thank goodness they weighed me down, as being the sylphlike waif I am ;), I'd have been flying over Newcastle this afternoon (which would be a tad more exciting than the work I have lined up for me :()

Sorry have been awol quite a while. I've been reading a bit of your posts, but mostly have been too emotionally exhausted to think of posting. But my thoughts have been with you all as you progress along life's little paths of pleasure...hmmm...if only, eh?

Last Monday's visit to toxic sibling, whilst good in some respects in that my friend and I frightened the cr4p out of my brother (just the fact I turned up with someone to support me for a change, did the job...they are so used to me being alone...and the fact said friend was in a suit and he didn't know in what capacity she was there, and she had an estate car to take all Mam's personal belongings with us, did the rest :rotfl: ).

But really, it was every bit as sad and miserable an experience as I'd expected. I was very ill afterwards, and, although I thought I'd rallied a couple of days later, I hadn't really, and have been desperately trying to stop myself falling into an abyss of depression ever since.

Still, the good thing is that I have some bits and pieces around me that feel familiar, and remind me of my parents. There's more !!!!!! work to be done on this front though, so I'm not quite finished yet...:(, but it would be silly to have come so far, and give up without a fight now...

And tomorrow is the first anniversary of my lovely Dad's death. I don't have words to describe how bereft I feel and how alone I feel, how thrust back into the awfulness of last year I feel. Even with the support of friends I feel very alone at the moment, but that saying of "This, too, will pass" is the one I'm clinging to.

I have some day trips out to look forward to in the coming weekends, and then my holiday in just 3 weeks time...so I am clinging to those, too. And, do you know what, becasue I couldn't care less about my holiday or holiday clothes, I've actually stumbled across some holiday clothes bargains...if I'd been looking properly, no chance :T

So, please bear with me. You might not hear much from me over the next few weeks as I try to work out how to just keep going, and not succumb to depression...I will not....I bl00dy will not....

    Take care, All

    LB xx
  • Internet bleeping on and off like tarts knickers at moment. After all my effort, after many weeks of solving it, think it may be down to rain getting into "the works" over last two days? Has anyone else experienced this ever?

Right now, I don't know who I would like a "word with" most - ie the Weather God, OpenReach or "thieving little s*d" of neighbour who is quite happy to try and nick some of my garden but thinks I and I alone should deal with our joint problem.....grrrrr...

    Just seen your post.

Don't let the barstewards grind you down. Hang on in there lady.

EDIT: It is difficult (as I know personally) to have to "share the same planet" as Wotnames, but I have a brother like that myself and am gearing up to the day when I might be into Almighty Conflict time with him in the future, but at least I am prepared for what he is like in advance. I don't know if you were, or it came like a bolt from the blue and you had previously thought he was okay...fingers crossed for you either way that it resolves.

Well.....it began raining earlier than flaming forecast said, so have now had to go out and put some plastic over it..........it will dry eventually, and can chuck on the final coat next time it's ruddy dry weather ..then it's finished. No paint on me though, or dust, now just wet.......lol.

LB....don't let the Barstewards get to you, they aren't worth it.

Loving the image of the suited and booted plus estate car.....i should have turned up tooled up and dressed like Dog Bounty Hunter just to finish off the whole look.....bet he got a shock, good job.

Jesus...it's flipping torrential rain here now whilst i'm typing.....which wasn't on the forecast at all...!!!!!..Ggrrrrrrrrr. in theory it's dry tomorrow...but who knows now.

flipping weather....going to go and have a nice bubble bath and forget about weather,decking,painting......after i've eaten some cheese.

  • LB lost both my parents many years ago and, while all those "firsts" are so difficult, in time it becomes easier to bring back the happy memories (and the downright ridiculous ones). Have you got anything planned for tomorrow? If not I think you should go round and paint Calicocat's fences (preferably without her knowing so she'll be really confused).
  • Grrr, I am so angry. Housing association came out last week to mend a leak in the toilet, it was coming from the waste pipe. He was here an hour and finished. Went out as he said don't use it for an hour. Was gone 3 hours, toilet still leaking. Looked up and under and the waste pipe is chipped.
Phone HA to tell them. They tell me the plumber will call me. That was Friday. Today I get a call from HA can they corm and repair it next Monday. Hey that's a week away, the floor is wet and pulling the vinyl up. No they can't they are all booked up. So" what do I do" I say " I'm running out of towels to put under it, it's waste water". She says " sorry can't do anything we are busy if it starts to pour out and flood the bathroom completely then you can call us " " don't be silly " I say " so when I run out of towels shall I just leave it to flood and then call you again and you can re-em ruse me for the ruined vinyl? She says " I'm only relaying the message we can't do anything till Monday and the vinyl is your responsibility"
I know it's wrong but I put the phone down. I was so livid. I bet they wouldn't have it.
Right rage over. Sorry about that and thank you all for letting me vent my anger. Ha ha just realised you didn't have an option did you? Well thanks for reading.... If you did. Lol

Make a note of the womans name/exactly what was said/the whole chain of events and fire off an email to "someone higher" pointing out that, if you do have to wait and the vinyl is ruined by them as a result, that you will be claiming the cost of replacement.

The "chain of events" is down there "on paper". Firstly, the repair might get done sooner. Secondly, if it isn't, then you've given yourself something to use to help you claim reimbursement for your vinyl if it is ruined by them.
