Another one here who loves storms, the best one i've been in was swimming in the sea in Wales at the same time, it was amazing.
No storm here yet, we may get one at the weekend apparently.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
The thunder woke me up early hours - fell back to sleep then, been warm but stuffy here.
Very organised and order all the school uniform, pe kit and coats for DD going to secondary school, just got the PE shirt to get which I have to use the specialist supplier (£17 for 1 top)
Scourer the sale part of Sports direct then the main site - got some gd bargains there. Then Tesco for sweatshirts (have to have school logo 2 for £15) compared to £15 for the school supplier for 1. Then hit Asda for main uniform... thou some of the items the stocks had sold out - but lucky got what we needed xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Storm can't be long away now, Asbo is running around like she's taken enough speed for a rhino....actually it sounds like a rhino is running around not a cat.
Going outside to see what may need taking in or tying down.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
:rotfl:Calico - I am so learning about the ways of our feline companions through this thread (amongst others).
Scatty half hours (or hours) just literally running round the place for no particular reason being part of it:rotfl:. I do try and picture Asbo Cat frequently...
Do cats get "redeemed" by the various recent stories in the press about a family cat that took it into its head to defend someone in its owners (trans. "servants") family when they were obviously under attack?:rotfl: I hadn't realised that either, ie that cats will defend their owners and their families if need be...(probably wanting to make sure their next mouthful of nosh turns up as per normal...but hey...don't disillusion me...I like to think they are being protective of Their Humans).0 -

Lol......mine can be asleep on the bed, hear something, and do this meerkat type of impression standing on back legs and 'growls' like a dog. Not sure she would defend me, I think she does it to alert me, so that I can then defend her......lol.
Although she has attacked dogs before....more down to the 'coz I can' thing than any defending anyone. With mine it's about territory....so I guess she is defending that at least.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Hope all the cats are ok with the weather, our dog doesn't like thunder, when he was a pup he managed to get behind the TV - the wires where going everywhere.
Then was under dining room table - unfortunatly that got took over for xmas prezzies and storage when we had to empty the kitchen.
So now he tried to hide behind the settee... bless him.

Been a lovely expensive day - and I haven't left home, been organised and sorted out DDs new uniform, - all sportie items from sports direct and 2 winter coats, polo shirts, trousers, skirts from asda, and jumpers from Mr T. Just leaves me the PE shirt to get - which has to be from the school supplier...£17... (she'll have a bigger size!!)
Not sure on plans for weekend yet - see whats on at our nearest national trust, or DD goes out with her friends, pleased as nice to be able to give her some freedom, thou she was so funny earlier - rang to say on way home - on the road - but dont know which road, - but its def on way home.... Shall I have a look on google maps to see where I am...!! (bless her) xxxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Asbo doesn't like the thunder particularly, and if it's very loud will usually end up under the bed.
All my dogs have hated it with a passion, and either hidden under things, or gone mad barking at it.
A work colleague lives in my estate and has said on occasions "did you hear the sea last night"...and I can't say I have ever really noticed. plus she lives nearer the sea than me....but I can hear it tonight. She always says it frightens her, I love the sound, and if could be bothered to, would drive down and have a look at it.
I think (as I only caught the tail end of the news) that 2 lads have had to be rescued out of it this evening!
Still waiting for storm, which may not come until tomorrow morning now.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I love the sound of the sea...
Weird by us as we have railway line back at the houses infront of ours, get use to it, you only hear the ocassional train, and when were away it feels weird not hearing the trains. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I don't know if we've had storms here or no. Someone who lives nearby was commenting about it going on a night over them. I would have slept straight through it, if we had one too.
The only "evidence" (or is it) of a storm here is damage to a tree in my garden (again), but there are other possible reasons for that:cool:, so I hope it was a storm that caused it iyswim, rather than it happening during a spell of perfectly calm weather during which I was out.
Either way, the tree will be replaced with a sturdier one better able to stand up to damage or "damage" and a firm weather eye will be kept on its successor. Fingers crossed its only one replacement tree I need, not two in quick succession and a security camera...0 -
Loud thunder again this morning at 5.32, which is when the cats came in at speed to hide under my bed. Tortie must have been out in the garden when it started as she was somewhat moist ...
Moneyistooshorttomention - don't like the sound of you needing two new trees and a security camera. Have you seen something happening before or do you just have suspicions?
I think I'm going to have to get a man in. The gutter by my bedroom window is not working properly. Well, not really the gutter (I've been up the stepladder this morning to check that - thankfully I'm in a bungalow but that is plenty high enough!), I think I have a blockage in the downpipe. There are two connection joints and a sloping piece of pipe with water gushing from both joints. Not sure how easy that would be to take apart or, more to the point, put back together again. Has anyone tried something like that?
Hope everyone has avoided damage in the storms. The garden will have enjoyed the rain and it feels much more pleasant this morning. That has to be a good thing as I need to clean the house ... again. You wonder why you bother when it only gets dirty again ...
