It's true, getting tense over something brings on twinges. I must say I was so impressed with the physio.

The police are still here, looking over the camper van with a torch! The other cars have gone.

Is it normal to take so long to arrive? Maybe they were told no-one was hurt.

    Lol.....wittering on is fine....lol.

And sadly No, that is going to be the norm I feel for the future. There have been a few times over I would say the last few months that they don't arrive on time. I am ringing from another hospital and asking for a ETA and they can't give it..!!!!! Very scary when you are waiting for one. I have been told that the phone service has been out-soursed, and according to the ambulance people they are a joke and are sending them to pub brawls instead of emergency stuff.

No doubt due to lack of training......bit a much better idea would be to shove pensioners into the job. I am going to pretend I have dementia and forgot to turn up for my 'forced-work'....let them argue that one....lol.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Physical training is going through the motions of restraining people....but on a huge scale and for a whole ruddy week!!.

To be fair...I never restrain people

    A) I find it degrading on both parties.
    B) if i'm honest I just can't be bothered and don't see how it helps in lots of situations.
C)....i don't need it....i can talk my way out of any situation. It's Other people that land me in restraint.

I can't stand the whole thing if i'm honest, and there are ways around it usually, so thankfully I don't do it as a rule....BUT to be fair, we do need to know how to do it, and this is getting worse....and won't change as wards close and it all gets more concentrated (the madness I mean).

We are meant to do it every year, I have managed to blag it for last 3 years....so I am about to die and won't be able to walk for days. I just had someone 26 saying this....i'm saying, Yeh, try it at 48!!!.

I'm still awake, :rotfl:, too hyper now!

Very worrying about the norm for response times :(

Back when I was at uni (2009 :D), another student was in her middle 50's and she worked part time on the mental health wards, she did the training for restraint etc, and was black and blue as well as exhausted. She was like you though and talked to the patients, had a gift for it.

I was watching a prog on iplayer, the taxi driver that is going to different countries to drive their cabs for a few days, he was in Canada, polar region (?), where the inuits are having a really bad time of it, in modern society.

I'm now listing to Sandi Toksvig on News Quiz (radio). One of the guests was saying that their sister got diabetes because of drinking too many sugar free drinks. Something about the pancreas (?) and insulin receptors...sorry I can't remember exactly, and shouldn't perhaps take something like that seriously, so will Google shortly...

    anyway, definitely wittering...again...:o

    Lol.

I'm still awake too......downfall of job. Alcohol does precipitate diabetes. ........we are all going to die, it's a matter of how and when.(my mate is killing herself with the booze) .and the choice of poison, and how far down the road you want to go.

    Going to google Inuit life.

    Xmas Saver!
can I join the awake club, brain just seems to running amock, so watching junk on tv...

Byatt - Hope your ok, sounds like you did a really good job tonight with the accident, cant believe how long it took the police to come out...

(soap box moment - sorry in advance), but dont they realise the damage they do by the drink driving and/or the racing on wrong side of the road, - its idiots like that , that we end up with our insurances going up every year and the damage they leave people in.

I'm celebrating 12 years this month on crutches - (75% of the reason) - due to an idiot not concentrating on his driving...

Going back to my 1st accident - the lad (only 19yrs old), speeding missed the bend, hit the side of my car, then went into the layby on my side of the road, wrote off a parked van, ended up in 2 shop fronts... he got out of the car and said did I do all this, his passenger hadn't got a seat belt on - she had her baby sister on her lap.

We had 2 ambulances, the air ambulance, pile of police.

    They took him to court...
1st court appearance - adjourned - they'd forgotten to tell me to go
2nd hearing - his solicitor hadn't turned up... but went ahead.

All he got was £100 fine, £100 costs and 6 penalty points....... Yet at the time for me to attend court as it was 250 miles away - my costs (loss of income, petrol, accomodation) came in at over £500. It was a joke.
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

JKS....thats when I hate it too, no-one to help, no-one it feels that gives a monkeys enough to help.

I hope you manage to get something sorted and that school are happy for DD to manage the situation. Good luck at hospital assuming you go.

Don't forget the look of surprise on others' faces when you say "No!" to their question "Isn't there anyone else who can look after him?". Honestly, you'd swear some people think I'm making the lack of support up . No, I really don't have a partner/family (not nearby even if they could help out). Yes I have two good friends nearby, one works f/t & the other has a disabled DD who picks up every illness going so I wouldn't dream of asking her to look after my poorly child.

When I explained this at work one helpful colleague suggested I join a yoga evening class so I could network with the other ladies & after having a few meals out & becoming friends, surely one of those would help me out? As she so obviously knows it all, I did ask how she thought I'd -
a] be able to get to the yoga lesson 2 villages away with no car (& no bus there)
b] be able to afford the babysitter I'd need + the yoga class on my small wage
c] find someone else to cook tea/clean up/do all the stuff I do of an evening while I'm off at yoga
d] be able to afford the suggested meals out to network (never mind where would I find the time & enthusiasm to network).

I'm not sure if she'll be speaking to me again :D

JKS, yes go to your hospital appointment, I know how hard it is to put yourself first, remember it's not selfish or anything silly like that, because if you don't take care of yourself now, then you are not going to be fit for anything, later on in life. I hope your son feels better soon, there's something going round again I believe from a snippet I heard on the news.

I must admit being on my own with the recent health issues felt worse, but I've suddenly remembered that useless ex was no support back in the day and essentially I might as well have been on my own, :rotfl:, so I feel better now as I realise I can slob about and rest or whatever and not feel like a complete failure, in his eyes.

I was trying to remember also what it was like when I was working full time and I seem to recall only cleaning on the weekends etc, later when I went part time (:rotfl:) and had DD it was work, DD, work, DD and weekends mergerd (sp) with everything else, another reminder that ex did very little (read that as zilch)...

and having lots of pets is like having children, a huge amount of work even when there's lots of pleasure. Especially when there's only you can they rely on.

I agree with BW, and let some of the chores go and set time aside to do what you want to do. When you're old and grey like me :rotfl:, you will look back and not remember whether your house was spotless or recall the highlight of having a hoovered house but you will recall the little oasis of joy you felt from doing something that fed your soul. I also know it's not as simple as that, but I'm glad LB you have some plans for pleasure and free time.

Now all I've got to do is follow my own advice. :D and also plan ahead more and have a dream or two. :)

Thanks again for the birthday wishes, :A

Oh Mtstm, yes have a lovely lunch.

Thankfully I did make it & everything was fine - its just a very long day & I'm good for nothing when I finally stagger back. At least the hospital have stopped asking me if I have anyone to take me home again :rotfl:. Initially they weren't happy to let me go home on my own, so after a discussion (crikey, don't I sound stroppy lately :D) they reluctantly came around to see that I really don't have a choice. I cant afford a cab as its so far away, there is no patient transport & the subsidised shuttle bus would leave me much further from home than the normal bus does.

Thankfully no treatment was needed yesterday (as the journey home after treatment is really difficult) so I can put it out of my mind for another 2 months. DS said his tummy just hurt, but no problems from either end, so think it was something we ate rather than a bug. School never found out about my lax parenting, thankfully!

Thanks so much for all your words of support (& Dibuzz) - I appreciate the fact that you all get it.

Will be back later to catch up - off to the salt mine now for another challenging day! Take care y'all (always wanted to say that, but don't think my appalling American accent comes across well on t'internet :rotfl:).
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Hi all. Work has been a night mare, so much for a gentle return.......
Staff issues, meds errors, non recording , lack of communication. I could go on..:( in fact I have 2 a4 sides of lists of things I see as needing sorting.
Not helped by the fact half way through my nightmare shift I had to take myself out of the way to have a damn good cry, because I really missed my husband. The one person I could ring and rant at and bounce ideas off . Really hit me how much I miss having some one in my life that gets me.

Byatt . Belated birthday wishes. I tried to google dancing chickens but could find a good one lol
Calico. I am with you on the not restraining thing. I find 95% of the time I can use humor to defuse the Situation, the other 5% I with draw and give space.
LB my house is a mess, I try and do something every day to tidy up, even 5 minutes . While the kettle boils for my well earned cuppa. But I agree with.. Sorry can't remember, that when we look back it won't be thoughts of how messy was my home but wow that was an adventure.

On bad days I mutter the Marta,. " Every day may not be good, but the is something good in every day" and I try and find it. It may just be something simple like a easy run home from work, no traffic. Or a smile from a baby in the supermarket.

Lol I promise I am not an ageing hippy.. I just like having mantras and saying. :)
Anyway dy off today. Meeting a good friend for dinner in a local pub, we played phone tag for a week to set this up lol .
I have put my work phone on silent and put my paperwork away, I refuse to give w*** another thought today..
    Hugs x CC

Cornishchick.....i pride myself on being named (by myself of course) the 'laughter doctor'...if that fails.....we just say I bored them for so long that everyone has forgotten what the problem was in the first place....lol.

I have to say on this ward I have been duffed in a few times, not sure if it's the ward and flipping micromanagement, or just a sign of things to come. However that ward has always been terrible but I can't fathom out why. The staff there are pretty hyper in my view, which doesn't help.

Well, I am knackered, have spent last day and a half cleaning the house, and not finished yet really....still, it's better than it was. I am beginning to think I should have got a house that was smaller, but bigger garden and bigger conservatory for tomatoes and peppers etc.

Picked up some potato bags cheap for next year half price. Went down to pet shop....cats with thumbs not there again.....very infuriating. from what the girl in the shop said they've been there for years so can't see them being moved on....unless they have been trapped...will keep checking.

Oh....and got a couple of t-shirts for the flipping Pmva course, as ones I have will be a bit tight I reckon....one is actually a pj top....but who's to know, it looks nice and cool.

My insurance has gone up 10 a month???!!!!.....how is this when I read all over the place that they are going down?

Anyhow phoned them up, apparently I got it at a intro offer price last ruddy rubbish as I don't remember that at all. So asked the bloke what he was going to do about it....after I refused to budge on my cover, eventually got the 10 knocked off again for a slightly higher excess. Next year i'm going to have a proper look at getting it cheaper...i'm a bit lazy with things like insurance and end up just sticking with the same company for years.

So, tomorrw should be a free day for me seeing as chores mainly done..well the ones I intend doing anyhow. So I may attempt making bread in the space ship (translates as mahoosive halogen cooker) if I get my arris into gear. Need to food shop tomorrow for food for sarnies for next week anyhow.

Hope all having a good day.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
