    Hope all's going well BW.

Looking like it's going to be a lovely sunny day here :D. Torn between getting lots of washing done (I do love a good drying day - must be an age thing) and sitting outside with a book. As it's a long weekend I do have some extra time for chores (that's so wrong, a long weekend should mean extra time to relax! Possibly another age thing?).

If I feel really reckless I just might go for a walk in the woods behind our house. It's moss-land managed by the Woodland Trust and is lovely, if sometimes a little squishy underfoot...
Going to pop to the shops for a few bits and wine for later  Must remember to get some barms before everyone clears the shelves for their barbeques!

    Happy long weekend :j

It is an age thing imo :rotfl:

I've just thought "Weather should be good enough to get a bit of washing out on the line (fingers crossed)" and just hung it out.

Time was when a weekend, in particular, meant "Right..out at the disco tonight and leave at chuckout time of 1 a.m., followed by lie-in next day". These days, I'd quail at the thought, as I now follow my natural "lark" tendencies.

Pushing myself into action for the day again unwillingly, as its another day of house renovation:(. The worst of it WILL be finished this month, it will, it will....

Meanwhile, my main workman is learning a lot too (ie about what urban English people regard as a "normal workman experience"). We can't be that bad to work for (despite our much higher expectations of punctuality and reliability than the norm round here), as he's now decided to start up on his own bat officially soon:rotfl:.

    Afternoon all.

I've been feeling _pale_ all morning. But starting to pick up again now :)
Good night catching up with some old friends at a 40th bday party.

I'm def having a lazy day today - will catch up on some reading and films I think.

Hmmm...I'm another one for whom these long weekends actually equate to no real relaxation time. Though the plan is to get jobs done now that will free up time for lazing a little during the summer. I hope it works!

Yesterday was chockablock full - sorting my small sheds (think previous outside lavvy size :)). The other day, I put something in one evening and it had disappeared by the next morning , so things were getting ridiculous. A trip to the tip, vet, a successful detour to find chicken supplies, planting on lottie, and cleaning the hen house while I had dry weather, took up the rest of the day!

It's all very well doing all this, but I also still have the normal things to do, too, like cook a meal. As a singlie, one of the hardest things, I find is that I have to do everything myself, no divvying up the chores, so you do have some relaxation time :(. Still, I fell into bed and slept, albeit with weird dreams

Today is, as predicted, wet, so I'll be doing some much needed cupboard sorting. I have completely lost track of my stores, and what is in my freezer etc. Sorting these, will make life easier on a day to day level and save me some much needed money.

And tomorrow...? Well, it should be normal housework, I guess, but I'm sorely tempted to say stuff it and just go for a walk! hoovering and tidying can wait until next weekend...maybe....

Whatever you're doing this weekend, have a good'un! By the next bank holiday weekend, I'll surely have only nice thngs like reading and catching up with friends to do....Surely...:rotfl:

    LB xx
  • I totally understand this business of bank holidays just seeming to be about work. My list of "things to do" from Easter is still sitting on the table with only three things crossed off. As the housework is basically done (just need to wash the kitchen floor and tidy the counters and do the ironing), I am going to try and clear a few more things from the list. The trouble is, several of the jobs will need a fair bit of energy to get them done and I don't think I have enough!

Oh well, enough moaning. Off to get the bucket to clean the green slime off the outside of the conservatory. To be followed by washing the plastic and glass inside the conservatory. My poor arms ... Then unblocking gutters and hoovering the plaster dust out of the car (for the second time - where does it all come from?). Then there is the enormous back lawn (or should that be silage field?) to cut. I need a rest just thinking about it!

I still think we singlies need a housekeeper to take care of the cooking etc so we have time to do these "extra" chores and still try and get out and/or relax with a book. Perhaps she could live in the cupboard with the handyman?!

Reading your updates LB and RPP I can see it's not just me who has too much to do and so very little time in which to do it. So often I go back into work and other say they have done diddly-squat all weekend. How come I never have the time to?

Update on DD's new b/f. It was my birthday last Saturday and they took me out for a meal in the evening. I must say I am warming to him. He took DD out in the day to look for/buy a new car. He is probably the best sort to do this - by that I mean to get the best possible deal for her - and he did just that :T

Yesterday I decided to go and get a garden bench from H0m3base since they had a 15% reduction. I have an area about 1/3 of the way down the garden where I have made a nice secluded area and which gets the sun from late morning til sunset. It'll be nice to get home and sit there with a cuppa or glass of something whilst enjoying the last of the day's rays.

As luck would have it, DD's new b/f turned up and asked if he could help me put the bench together. What brilliant timing! I had put the 2 side panels on and left the rest to him :T

Once that was done I dug out the [STRIKE]lawn[/STRIKE] grass/weeds and laid some black weed suppressant fabric. I cut the grass too which was quite long after the weed/feed treatment and the rain we had this week. It was 7.30 when i next looked up and only then because DS was ringing me!

This morning so far I've done the ironing (did 3 loads of DD's washing as well as my own yesterday too). I haven't done the food shopping yet, A1d1 is so busy at 10 when they open that I might go a little later this week.

when I get back I've got seed sowing to do, so definitely won't be going back into work saying I've done diddly this weekend!!
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

Hey! I'm warming to your DD's new BF, too! Pass him around!! :rotfl:

We've got water problems here today, too - there's an airlock somewhere up the road so some in the village have no water at all. I'm one of the lucky ones as I have some water, albeit very low pressure. I've filled pans and the kettle full of water just in case...MSE survival training at its best :T...I've also filled some neighbours kettles for them, cos I'm nice like that ;)

Hope it's sorted soon as I desperately need a shower and hairwash. I should have had a shower before bed, but couldn't be bothered to, so there's a lesson!

I love the idea of a housekeeper in the cupboard, now wouldn't that be useful! :)

So, having learned from yesterday's having to cook a meal when shattered, I've now got a sausage and bean casserole in the slow cooker. That and a baked potato will be really welcome later on today, and minimal effort when I'm tired.

The only way I keep myself motivated on things like this is to think about the fact I'm doing the work for me, to benefit me, and life will be so much more organised as a result.

Right, better get started on those cupboards...ok, I'm going in...I may be gone some time

I agree LB/RPP/Spirit - it would be nice to have someone to divide the chores up with sometimes. Perhaps we can timeshare that housekeeper? :rotfl:

Today will be my busy day (when I've had my next coffee anyway ;)) as I want to get some jobs done in the garden whilst it's still dry.

Update on baby news - he is out of neo-natal (temperature and blood sugar returned to normal) and back on the ward with Mum. They are hoping to be allowed home tomorrow. Thanks for letting me share with you :)

Edit to say - Spirit - your daughters BF sounds like a lovely fella :)

Great news on the baby front, BW :T. I'm really pleased everything seems to be improving there.

Have just finished some of Mam's estate work, and posted some queries over on the bereavement board. It all looks straightforward until you realise you know nothing about anything

Right, NOW, I'm off to attack the cupboards.
