  • One of those times when it would be handy to have a hubbie around....

Neighbour is using a minute sliver of my garden and I've said nowt, as it aint worth it for just a tiny little bit like that. So I've kept my trap shut for the sake of harmony. However, they are out there and out there studying in minute detail and have now had a rant at me saying I'm using a minute sliver of the land they have next to it. I did point out the facts of the matter but there you go...

I was warned by another neighbour that this one tries to "rule the roost" and always has. So at least "I wuz warned..I was" and that helps.

It's absolutely crystal clear to the most casual of observers on the one hand or anyone looking at the plans/deeds of my place that neighbour is in the wrong here. Sigh....

I think the phrase "WE have always co-operated" really translates into "I have always had my own way until now...and I want you to roll over and let me have my own way too and dictate exactly how things will be, even in your own garden". They have even tried to tell me how to do things within my own house...which I thought was incredibly cheeky, but slammed my mouth shut and said nowt, rather than telling them to mind their own business and I would mind mine or words to that effect.

I'm quite obviously not some youngster..hence the surprise at this, but I suppose I'm getting it in the neck trying to tell me how to lead my own life/have my own house and garden because I'm a woman? Wonders if they would dare do that if I were a man or married to one....

Stay calm/stay firm/stay polite is what I am telling myself and carry on making MY decisions on my own as any home-owner is entitled to do if it doesn't impact on other Reasonable People type neighbours.

Anyone else had a case of a neighbour trying to "lay down the law" and dictate how you should have your own house and garden (when you aren't doing anything like trying to put up an extension or anything that many people would object to) and just making your own personal choices, same as they are making their own personal choices? Everyone else is busily telling me how much I have improved the place and that it's much better since I moved in and started renovating it.

I'm having a "need a man" moment too although a handy woman would do.
I started to decorate my bedroom but I'm in the middle of changing depression and anxiety meds so not quite with it and standing on a ladder with a pot of paint seems like a bad idea, I can get paint all over everywhere on the best of days :o

We also have an awkward neighbour who would cut the privets to knee high then moan if the kids' footballs went over, in the end we put up a 6 foot concrete fence and no longer have to look at her :rotfl:

Neigbours? mmmhh, 2/3 come to mind, never had much luck with neighbours (ok, maybe the common denominator was us, but then we were out 5 days a week at work, kept to ourselves etc), my ex as regular readers know, :D, was a useless article so having a man about was, well next to useless...he did nothing, said nothing...

so...the neighbours who cut our hedging down when we were at work, (2 sides), then the neighbour who I eventually worked out had moved our trees (a new build) before we moved in so the hedgerow boundary became blurred and was deemed to be on his land so he built a fence on what was essentially our land. I was livid, expressed my opinion but without money what are you supposed to do? Just getting a surveyor would have cost a fortune. And as I said, ex was useless. He was good at telling me what to do/say however, just never did it himself.

Nah, no men thank you. :D

Mum2one - aww sorry to hear your DD is struggling. That doesn't sound like the most helpful advice from the hospital....

    Bless her!

Could she keep a diary to see if that helps pinpoint anything e.g. food or what was she touching just before. Maybe not very practical, but it's all I can think of at the moment :o

On a different note, I made an impulsive decision today to get another couple of hens :). A Speckledy and a Barnvelder will be joining Bluebelle and Coco on Friday evening - possibly Mabel and Matilda (Tilly)...could just as easily be Maisie and Tilly :rotfl:

    Can't wait!

It's my lovely Dad's birthday on Sunday, and I'm missing him so much, so this will help me focus on nice things.

    Hope all are well

    LB xx
