Some suggestions re: uses of marmalade HERE

Heading off in the direction of the cocktail...who'd a thunk marmalade cocktail...probably gross :rotfl:, but worth a shot.

Well, I've spent some time looking at this thread, and thought maybe it was time I added something to it, nothing exciting, just to say hello! Been single for many years, retired 2 years ago and am finally getting used to being able to do what I want when I want without clock watching (well, not too much) or feeling quilty because I'm eating toast in bed at midnight. Its good to know that there is somewhere I can have a bit of a rant if I'm having an 'off' day ..... not that I need that at the moment, but really ought to be getting on as am going on holiday tomorrow and have a list a mile long to get through .... but it just ain't happening at the moment! Ho hum, such is life!!

Looks like its going to be a beautiful day, hope it is where you are!

Morning all - lovely day here. I decided to get up early (well for me anyway) today or I won't want to go to bed tonight. Lovely to have another day of no work :)

Easy day for me today. I only have minimal chores to do although I do need to pop to the supermarket when it opens. Tea is chilli which has been cooking away in the slow cooker overnight :T

I have managed to lock myself out of an online account this morning and now to have to wait to call when they open to get it reset

Have a wonderful day whatever you are up to :)

jencmk - welcome to the thread :)
  • jenmck - also saying welcome:wave:,

Back to work today, ie more house renovation work. Tired after a day off yesterday...as it equalled a rather long exploratory walk. Well I had to give my inner Farmers Wife an outing:rotfl:, Have now got the appropriate raincoat to cater for all the rain we get here, so will no longer be "confined to barracks" when its raining yet a'blimmin' again.:)

Just need my Farmers Wife/holidaymakers bought for this type of area boots now and I'll be good to go all round.

Yep, lovely day here, too :j

My alarm went off for work as normal today . Had completely forgotten about it. Mind, I'm an early riser anyway, so I'd have woken soon, I'm sure :(. I'm usually awake before the alarm, but not this morning. Typical!

I'm struggling to motivate myself to move on today's smaller list of chores, not helped by Young-Boy-Cat enticing me to play Da B1rd :rotfl:. But I must get dressed in my scruffs, and go and see the girls, and do a little bit of lottie work. I'll also dig a part of their run so they can search for worms, which is a huge fave activity (for me, as well as them!)

Still no water pressure...freezing shower, so I've bottled it , and will go another day without one.

Hope you all enjoy a lovely day. Welcome to the newby...all are very welcome, any time :)

BW hope mum and baby are doing well and will soon be home

Hmm, kitchen cupboards, now there's a challenge... I've been trying to cut back on what I have in mine but there always seems to be something on a special offer that I just know I "need". As for the fridge, we have lots of soup to use up the slightly shameful veg sitting at the bottom. I buy it with good intentions, but then DD and DS have that much on in the week that it doesn't get used, (we don't have "flavours" of soup, it just goes by the colour as in "today we have white/green/red/brown soup" etc, then I don't have to explain what's in it). Fortunately they will eat HM soup by the bucketful. :D

Today I am going to attempt to reclaim the work surfaces in the kitchen (cupboards and surfaces would be too much for one day!). I'm rather liking the handyman and house keeper in the cupboard idea I must say. A friend of mine has started using an ironing service (she's a singlie with two children) and thinks it's worth every penny because it either frees up her time with them or, (on the odd occasion) when they see their dad, she can give herself some time to do what she wants, not what she has to.

As singlies it can be very easy to get caught up in constantly "doing" when sometimes we should take a step back and enjoy. I'm going to go for another walk in the woods today.

Yesterday DS's football team won their match and have won their league with two matches to go, and a cup final next weekend :j. DD is up to her eyes in GCSE revision (exams start on 12 May and don't finish until 13 June!), and I have year 6 SATS tests to look forward to in school the week after next. Oh joy :D

    Happy Monday!

We're past the exam stage now but one year I had one doing yr6 SATS, one doing GCSEs and one doing A levels. You don't think about these things when they are little.
I'm waiting for youngest to get up and move some stuff then I can get the wardrobe I dismantled into his room and start painting in mine.

mummybobble - my house is (and will be for a while) in chaos due to ongoing 'modernisation' work. There are days when, like MTSTM I find it depressing (particularly as I work from home too). No point in getting a cleaner as I never know what will actually be accessible to clean, but I have outsourced my ironing. It means that the washing is out of the house between being clean and being put away, and that despite the chaos, I have lovely ironed sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers to retire too. And I don't look as if I live in a building site when I go out (hopefully).

Ironing services are generally very good value, often provided by local individuals in their own homes (mine is a neighbour who I met because she had a card up about ironing) and you are supporting the local economy rather than the money going to a faceless corporation. So plenty of reasons to indulge :)
  • I probably do look as if I live in a building site at the moment. In fact I'm certain of it...:(, so I don't blame you greenbee for outsourcing the ironing. My pile of it is ? weeks old at the moment.

    :(:(

Just nipped back in for a moment.... can't remember who asked but you may recall that I had some Vanilla curd to try a while back ...and I said that I would let you know how it was.....well the verdict is.... good but a little odd :rotfl:
It looks like lemon curd but tastes of vanilla so whilst nice is a little strange on the taste buds.
Sorry for not advising before - memory sucks :o
