Byatt - please don't apologise - there really is no need. Maybe I am on my own with this (and sorry if I am) but I don't consider anything to be 'off topic'. The thread/we are here to support fellow singlies (IMO) and that is what I hope you feel from posting here. If you feel supported, you will be able to in turn do the same for your DD. Hugs x

Dang - meant to say no I haven't read The Book Thief - although it is on my ever growing 'to read' list. Maybe I will bump it to nearer the top ;)

    Thanks BW, :)

The Book Thief for me is on par with How to kill a mockingbird...the way it's written is very different and just draws you in. I know there is a film out now, not sure how I feel about watching it, but hope it does the book justice. Not what I was expecting at all, but then I had no preconceived ideas as to my shame I hadn't heard of it till the film was advertised. It's meant for young adults but I think it's for any age.

I have 4 books on the go at the moment, I read according to my mood. :D

Totally agree.....thats the whole point of the thread isn't it.

That video is great.....however Asbo-cat wasn't impressed by the noise sat next to me.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

I agree with that. The thing is, as singlies we don't have that husband/partner to be supportive/helpful/etc and have to deal with things on our own. To a singlie, there is no automatic fallback position (ie that automatic Helpful Other inside the front door that people in a marriage/etc have). We have to have a network and call on that network instead.

You called on that network and that's fair enough in my book.

That's rather how this whole thread started after all.

EDIT: BTW Thanks to BigAunty for the help here.

Oh..Waitrose...I remember that. I miss my Waitrose here...and good enough access to dentists/osteopaths (because we haven't got enough of them here) and I have had to fix myself up with a dentist some distance from here, because the one I had decided on here had a rather different take to me on who makes the decisions. One work-around later and I have one who accepts that I will be the one making my decisions of course.
