BODDY......if you go to see them I would try and pick a sunny day maybe as they are more likely to be there...I think...as they hang out on the rooftops of the rabbit hutches to sunbathe. Good luck with the kitchen.....and cats always have slaves......or to be fair i'm pretty sure they call them 'staff'. Oh and did you go to Newcastle for the army store??

Well....my shifts are over. Admittedly it was fairly quiet and settled...but the male ward is SO more laid back than the female. With a bit of luck I may get stuck on the male ward for a couple of months to get a better picture of how it is as they all have problems just different ones.

    Right....off to bed now.

    Have a good weekend folks.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Just had my DD on the phone, absolutely hysterical...she's had a number of "falls" lately, which I thought might be related to her seizures...she's just said her (female) partner has been hitting her, the latest with a dinner plate resulting in a cut on her nose and above the eye.

The support people are galvanising their people as I've said the girl *has* to leave today.

I am just so upset. :(

Oh no.....does DD want her to go?....if so that's simple as if it's your daughters place (which I think it is?) the police will just remove her. Things will get slightly more complicated if she doesn't want her to leave however as it will have to go through safeguarding I would think? I hope it gets sorted quickly for everyone.

    Byatt,

Sorry to hear that re your daughter. I've just learnt something for today then. I know about wife batterers and the occasional man being beaten by his wife, but it simply hadn't occurred to me that this might happen in same sex relationships as well.

Fingers crossed and positive vibes winging their way that this situation will resolve positively.

Would the battered wives network be something that could provide positive help in this situation, or is that group something that only functions for the stereotypical woman being hit around by a man situation?

Hopefully, the fact that your daughter has told you about this at last means she is at least nearly ready to break off the relationship.

EDIT: there is a poster on these Boards who seems pretty knowledgeable about this sort of thing. Think she is called "Big Aunty" if you want to find her and see what she has to say about this.

FURTHER EDIT: I've found her. She is called BigAunty. I've sent her a PM asking her to pop by to this thread.

I've PM'd Byatt directly with support links rather than take this thread off topic.

I am not an expert in this field, just that regularly on the Benefits forum a minority of threads relating to hardship, homelessness and debt gradually unravel to reveal that the OP is being emotionally and financially exploited by their partner, that their domestic and social sphere is heavily controlled.

Also, unfortunately, that the person affected and some of the posters have a very narrow view of what constitutes domestic abuse which is a bit discouraging - for some, it is solely about a man physically striking a woman or see the operation of their relationship as simply a private matter.

Sorry to have posted and run, I had to go out to get new tyres, then went to ss DD, followed up by my pet sitting/pop-ins...so have just got in. Haven't read the replies porperly yet, but will do when I've had a cuppa and calmed down.

The plus side to all this is that I really haven't had to "do" anything practical for DD, this is the first time and it's such a relief, not only because I can concentrate on giving emotional support but I know if anything happens to me, her support will ensure she is alright. The police have been called, they have made sure the girl (woman) has left the house and DD is able to stay, if she wants to, at a supported house. The police apparently encourage the "victim" to stay at their own place as they shouldn't be afraid to do so.

I'm really sorry to take the thread OT, so please carry on as before...I just was so upset for her and very worried. BigAunty, thank you for taking the time to PM, it's appreciated...I will reply.

Oh, the other plus is DD has called a halt to the relationship, and told people, just after 3 months (living together)...last time with different person she went 2 years and never said a thing.

Bit weird but was having fb chat to an ex last ngt - we went out for 2 yrs long time ago, this got me thinking about an experience with an ex from many yr ago...

I was 20 and had holidayed in Devon, there was always same group of families that went same time, - this one holiday - one family - there was 2 brothers, one same age as me and the other 3 yrs older. I ended up with the older brother, - long distance romance.

Then its my 21st, spent bday with friends, then the wend after was going to stay with b/f and his family, - went down the Fri after work, we ended up in nightclub, me and 7 guys, I'm the only one still standing, - I got chatted up while we were there, turned out it was a local ganster...

Next day - b/f promises me were going shopping.. but we needed to nip via their one friends farm... got there - I'm left in the kitchen with this friends mum, while the rest of them wait for the vet as a donkey was being put to sleep, we had to wait till it had been buried... next shopping (45mins from London) - no we ended up at a auction of farm machinery..

I didnt finish with him as I didn't want to be stranded down there... finished with him a month later... x

Mum2One, they cost £110 incl vat...I don't have alloys...still, 2 new tyres, and one good spare. The front tyres were already quite new, but of course with a puncture...I didn't remind them about wanting to know the cause of the puncture...forgot with all that was going on.

Has anyone read The Book Thief? I am in the process of reading it, and it's wonderful!

I popped into Wa!trose on the way home, and got some bargains, just eaten a YS venison cottage pie, it was lush. I was eyeing up the other bargains one of which was rhurbarb and strawberry compote, but then a woman took the last 2! What's that saying, he who waits...or something...I could have got a really cheap cake, but was good and walked away...I'm on a low/no carbs diet...
