  • Need to read back properly through the last couple of pages to catch up, but going back to cat names our ninja cat is actually called Mittens (black with lopsided white markings on his face but four white paws) and princess is Princess Aurora (after Sleeping Beauty, DD's choice, I suspect there are not many other cats called Aurora...).

We do sing to them :D Aurora gets (to the tune of Wizadora) "Our Aurora, We adore ya", while Mittens gets (unfortunately to the tune of Patricia the Stripper, a very old Chris de Burgh song...) "And Mittens is the best kitten in town". I do sometimes wonder about what goes on in our house :rotfl:

Lots to do today but I think that putting the kettle on may be a priority :D

    This made me laugh :rotfl:

I sing to my cats, too - there's the Charlie-Farlie Pretty Kitty Cat song (made up obviously :p), and the "How many Jaspies in a Jaspie-cat world" song (erm....also made up....:p)

Gawd, good job no one listens (even the cats, mostly :rotfl:)

Hehehe......I have (am having) an excellent day...still in pj's...grub in the SC, have played some foil games with asbo,....and have been very industrious on the seed front.

I ditched the old rocket and spinach that asbo had half eaten half trashed and sewed some new, also done some thyme, saved I think one original spinach plant (except freak cat is now staring at it). She is also trashing the cat grass before it has sprouted properly....and I have sewn a few tomato plants.......this is very dangerous as I have major history of tomato-murder.....and I don't have a clue what to do with it even if it does survive the sprouting stage.......

I have made new mint plants from cuttings...anyone want any mint??...i'm good with that, got loads of plants now.

Oh...and have chopped some basil off a plant to see if I can grow it in water and make a new plant the same as I do with the mint.........i'll bet you can tell I haven't got a clue what i'm doing.

I may go and buy some catmint when out tomorrow...keep flipping asbo off my food. The conservatory is lovely and warm and sunny today....cat is on the sofa in there now making star shapes in the sun. In this weather she just loves this room, in the summer she goes into some kind of heat trance and can't move.....crazy bint.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Ok, panic mode, they want the hire car back Friday at latest, they've already paid me for Skoda into bank...headless chicken mode. They are giving me an extra day, but I was sure they told me I could have it for 4 days after payment, but I'm so stressed I'm not making notes.

Soooooo, Vauxhall Corsa (could get immediately, kind of) or wait for possibility of Ka turning up, blokey in garage looking for me...

Thought it was all going too smoothly...
I have several pet sitting jobs I need to go to...

any suggestions gratefully received as I'm really not thinking clearly.

Firstly - take a deep breath, and don't be bullied into anything either giving the hire car back or jumping at the first car offered.

Secondly - read the T&Cs of the hire car insurance you took out - do you agree that you have to give it back on Friday? If not, ring them and tell them

Thirdly - assuming they are correct, how much is it to hire a small car for a week for yourself? SHOP AROUND for a hire car. It will give you breathing space to carry out your jobs and car hunt. I appreciate that you possibly feel this is money thrown away, but if it stops you making a mistake with a new car, then it's money well spent.

Fourthly - I repeat DO NOT jump at the first car you see...unless it's exactly what you need and someone has checked it over for you

Fifthly - do you know anyone who would add you to their insurance for a week or two - problem here is that it's business use rather than SD&P only, but is there anyone at all?

    And keep breathing!!

Thanks LB, good idea about getting other car hire fees. I am have a stonking headache now, so will calm down, sleep on it and have faith it will all work out...I can use a taxi for some trips if necessary...I will also read the T&C's for current hire, and no, no-one has a spare car...

The garage blokey is going to do the leg work for the hunt for a Ka...

If it was next month I wouldn't be worried as have no bookings after 6th April and could probably outsource any I did get!

Inside, I'm running around like Road Runner! :rotfl:

    and breathe...:o

Work out the cost of taxis v hire car...suspect taxis will be more expensive overall (or they would be in my neck of the woods). Also, I know you wont want to let your customers down but think carefully about working at a loss. You aren't a charity. If they are regulars maybe ok, but one offs who may or may not come back to you, perhaps offer a discount for next time. But I think this is all to be thought about when you know the t&cs and likely cost of hire v taxi etc.

Big hug. I can hear the panic, but most problems have a solution, it's just sometimes we don't likr the solution.

It will work out but it will take some effort. Had a thought, perhaps you could pass on the bookings to another pet sitter. Even at this short notice. It's still low seasonn after all. It might be cheaper to pay any difference in fees than fund taxis to and fro?

btw, do you have insurance for being ill or unable to work??

This happened to me when I had one written off, luckily I had a friend who could take me to look at cars, work I wasn't too far away from so got taxis for a couple of weeks.

re: taxis, I worked out a discounted fee with a local company for the time as would be using them every day...you could look at that.

As you need transport for your job, ring the insurance company back up....their insurance should pay for it surely!!...just say you haven't time to find a car like today...be very pushy, even if you have to pay it out you may get it back for a hire car for another week.

At a push....anyone you know doesn't really use their car much?....hire it from them, although sorting insurance may outway any costs.

Rather than panic buying if it doesn't cost too much it may be worth hiring for two weeks...gives you time to have a look about and find a car you want.

Edit....anyone you know with a car and out of work at the moment...hire them to ferry you around for a week until you find a car you want?

Edit again...you can also go onto Autotrader site..shove in your area and stipulate a distance away you are prepared to look at to see what's about in your area for sale.....i have just shoved my own postcode in, stated a 20 mile radius, and under 1.5 K just for arguments sake....and there are 19 Ka's within that price range...worth a look.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
