    Hi twisted cherry.
That was my concern that my broadband would be slower with bt.

I did the online chat with BT and the rep said I can't get fibre.
He said if I wanted hd tv channels I had to have the Youview box. And I could watch bt sports through the online App.
Also said I could pay £3 extra for the kids pack.
    Is this correct ?
    Or am I being mislead.?
    Thanks

I do not know about kids pack etc. as it is not something I have. You can still get BT Sport on your TV through the YouView Box, but there is a one off £10 charge to activate / set it up. And of course you can watch it via the online app.

Initially it was a lot slower, but it has settled now and is more stable. I am getting between 8MB - 9MB, previously with Sky I was on just over 9MB.

    Thanks for the info.
I wouldn't mind paying £10 for the sport.
I only wanted to keep the kids channels as I have a toddler.
Your broadband speed isn't a lot slower than sky then, suppose you wouldn't really notice the difference.
Sky reckon I can get around 8mb but I am getting around 11mb on the speed test checker.
Bt say my line should get 8mb so I was wondering if I would get around the 11mb still.
  • Can someone just clarify for me. Can you get BT Sport with just BT Broadband and a YouView box, or must you have BT Infinity?

I think you can get the bt sport without the infinity through the online app.
Someone I work with has bt broadband and he has free bt sport hd through his sky box.
He can't get fibre in his area

I just spoke to BT a few hours ago, and they did NOT tell me it was restricted to an App, they did try to push for an order for infinity but I said it was needed as my dad barely goes online and has no use for superfast broadband. All she said was there was a £10 activation charge for BT Sport.

He's going to be mega disappointed if he can't get BT Sport on his TV, the Sky Box is going, was planning on selling it on eBay!

    BT Website Says:

Can't get BT Infinity packages? You can still enjoy BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 2 when you order a broadband and TV package from BT with a £10 viewing card fee.

It was made out to me the £10 viewing card fee is a one off fee?

They told me I would need the vision plus box to watch bt sport.
With the you view box I could get the hd channels.
But you couldn't use just one box to get both the sport and the Freeview hd channels.
    Which seems crazy.
Ye its a one off payment of £10

Bt must have changed the way we can get bt sport in the last couple of months, when I moved bb and telephone to bt the sport was activated straight away, there was no £10 payment and I am watching through a sky box and dish.

My dad is currently watching through a Sky Box and Dish, and there was NO charge for him when we activated it last month (same at mine but then I do not watch sport!) It seems however BT charge if you watch through them...

If one cannot get BT Infinity then a BT Vision box is needed for watching BT Sport on a TV. And BTS 1 & 2 are broadcast over Freeview, so a one off fee of £10 is required for a viewing card.
