I thought I wasn't actually directly involved in this but I ordered a set of earphones from Tesco Direct fur click and collect over a week ago. There was a message when ordering that due to seasonal demand, orders would take a little longer so next day collect may not be available.
I now read that Tesco use Yodel so suspect that even deliveries to local stores for collection are being affected as I've had an invoice from Hughes the suppliers, a "dispatched" note email earlier in the week (dispatch to store delivery is usually next day) but no confirmation of ready to collect, though I did ask the store to check in case it had already come in yesterday.
You'd think you'd be safer with click and collect but feels like that has been snowed under too.

I find that personally our own local Yodel delivery driver is fine, a very nice, elderly gentleman who would not dream of throwing a parcel over a fence. But he is relatively new and previous drivers were not so good.
Recently I have had more cause for complaint about Hermes than Yodel and don't get me started on Royal Mail, they are no better.
I think it is pretty much a lottery whether you get a good driver and also there are a lot of temporary drivers at the moment because of the extra parcels near to Christmas, maybe since the job is only for a few weeks they don't care about making an effort.
  • After having so many bad experiences with Yodel (damaged goods, good left in street, literally!) I now ask a company who their courier is. If it's Yodel then I simply won't place the order, and tell them that's why I'm not placing the order.

DPD have always been excellent, they give you an hour timeslot and they always arrive within that hour.
Mortgage free for 5 months :T Then got another mortgage:rotfl:

    Dear XX

    Thank you for your enquiry.

It appears of (sic) trying to track your order, this order appears to be missing with the courier. We will arrange a full refund, apologies for any inconvenience.

    Kind regards,
    Hughes Direct

I wonder what courier that is, remember this is Tesco click and collect from store
  • Just curious if MSE will be doing this survey again. After some recent experiences with several UK courier firms, I'd be happy to add my two pence. Only problem is, I'd have to rate Yodel as still being by far the most ridiculously terrible courier service in the UK. It's not their drivers, although it's hard to know as one has never turned up, or some of their customer service people who try to be helpful, but the either logistics side of the business that's so broken it should shut down entirely.

I wish I had checked here before using Yodel. It took eight days for them to contact me and say that my parcel is hazardous and would be destroyed if not collected from Gateshead. The driver was happy to pick it up and risk his life taking it to their depot. That's miles away from me and why I used a courier service in the first place. It's a SCUBA tank and lots of other carriers will happily carry SCUBA tanks. Yodel won;t budge on this and threaten to dispose of my goods. I hope they have a hazardous waste disposal licence or will they just throw it in the nearest skip?

I wonder if I can get a reputable courier service to collect it from the Yodel depot?
