After a long day at work this week we were on the verge of ordering a takeaway when I spotted a sandwich box in the freezer, it contained a bulk-cooked curry from a couple of weeks ago made with reduced-price turkey, value curry sauce and frozen peppers. We didn't have any naan bread so, remembering an OS post, I rubbed a garlic clove over some pitta bread and it was delicious so thank you all good people, none of the above would have happened without you all!

Well done it feels good when you don't have to give into temptation because you have managed to make something yourself.

I managed to go for a few cheap drinkies last night..my local has a problem with one of it's taps so they are selling cans of cider instead and instead of paying £3.20 for a pint they've stocked up on cans so it's £2.50 a pint! :)

I had to talk to myself while walking past the Chinese takeaway though and just kept repeating 'beans on toast, beans on toast' My willpower won!

I'm doing some batch cooking this weekend in the slow cooker with tesco frozen mince for £3.59, value chopped tomatoes and value kidney beans. I have all the spices - (must investigate getting spices online or from somewhere cheaper) and I'll be making 'Schwartz' ish chilli as I use the ingredients on the pack as my recipe. I bought that chilli sauce mix about er..6 years ago - still unopened and it'll only ever be used as a recipe card as it contains gluten - which I can't have.
The amount of chilli I'm making will last me about 8 meals.

  • Hi after many years of lurking I just wanted to thank everyone for the help and advice I have gleaned from you lovely moneysavers.
I now make my own bread, use stardrops, love the smell of vinegar, have a go at fly-ladying my home and lots more.
I have introduced my family to the benefits of this site and they are moneysavers too.
I may go back to lurking because of time constraints but just wanted you all to know how helpful you are.
So a BIG thankyou to you all. x:T
