Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Board guides are not moderators and don't read every post. If you spot an inappropriate or illegal post then please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com. I just dont feel comfortable with the cynicism, smut and innuendo that is to be found on the other 'chatty' threads. You people here seem much more friendly.

I've actually got OS as my homepage and its the first place I come to whenever I come online, closely followed by organizedhome.

This is a very friendly place that I love to come to because of all the like minded people. :A

What great posts:D I know how the Ol'Stylers who are on part-time attendance due to various events in their lives feel. I only have internet access at one home and when I'm at the other I really feel I am missing out. Fortunately the local library has internet is I get desperate:o

I'm another one who just loves this site. It feels as though I am among a lot of unseen friends. I will confess to taking a look at some other sites but have never felt that I wanted to join in. Many times this site (not only OldStyle) has helped me out and I am touched by the friendly helpfullness of everyone on here.

I must admit that O/S has given me a lot more to think about than any of the other threads, and have started becoming more and more old style over the three months ive been reading, and have always had excellent and informative replies to many random and often stupid questions, and have never been made to feel stupid.

I occasionally post replies on other boards if I feel I have something worthwhile to contribute to the discussion, however, I always get a sense of 'paranoia' and have to check back about 5 times a day to see who has shot me down in flames! Ive also found some posters (I wont mention names) but on one particular thread, an almost 'snidey' remark was made to the OP in response to a question, and, being a person of similar background, felt obligated to respond, however, not in a similar manner, merely pointing out the ignorance and sweeping generalisation that person had made, and whilst I was not the OP, felt quite aggreived.

Similarly, reading one board (again - not mentioning any particular one), I often find myself becoming frustrated with the posters when I just READ the thread, I often wonder if there is a double meaning to the posters question, as if they are asking a question in all honesty, but for some reason I feel uneasy, almost as if.... well, I just get a dodgy vibe.

Anyway, I digress (love that phrase!!) and will stop whingeing.

I love O/S. I love growing things, I want to keep chickens, and my next preject is quilting. According to various magazines (Vogue, Arena, etc etc) we are all pretty trendy - knitting and keeping chickens are apparently 'cool', but I prefer not to view myself as one of the faddy masses, merely enjoying my time at home, and keeping both body, mind and purse healthy.
