I think we all learn from each other on here. There's such a wide age-range of contributors and we all have something to learn all the time!
It's 35years since I set up 'my first home' and I love to read tips that younger members come up with.
This board isn't just about OldStyle - it's about 'OldStyle with a modern twist' and making it work for today's families. Although many of us remember having to do laundry with a dolly-tub, scrubbing board and mangle - I bet there isn't a single one of us who would like to be doing it in this day and age when automatics are so accessible.0 -
We all learn from each other, I am often reminded of things that I used to do that really helped and have been inspired to take up various crafts which I used to do when I was in my early twenties, that got lost in my busy life. Come and join us on the daily.0

Well I'm here to thank too.
Before I discovered, or even worked out how to find the forums of MSE, I would go on others (mainly parenting forums, with a budgeting section) often they were either to "clicky" or simply didn't answer or ignore your posts for advice. Maybe they didn't like me :rotfl:
Everyone here is very helpful and fall over each other to help, its amazing how many people have helped us or can make a meal (and a decent meal at that) out of so little, money or food.
My fav is when we post what we have in the cuboards and we make meals out of that or resently (sp) a member (besides few other before her) posted her food budget for the month.
And I thought I was doing so well with food budgeting till I came on here. lol
Oh yes, and the minute you join up your made to feel welcome
Gosh I'm ramberling about nothing.
QPGrocery Challenge. £400. - £35.22 + £19.80 + £109.01 = £164.03
Other spends (Clothes Luxuries etc)£11.97 + £1.19 + £7.36 + £69.00 + £38.50 + £5.50 + £23.00 +£2.00 = £158.52:shocked::sad:0 -

Thanks to all Old Stylers from me too! I'm now
cooking from scratch and baking
menu planning and writing shopping lists,
turning my central heating off (not just down!),
bought thermal curtain lining (my first ebay purchase!) and a slow cooker,
Oh and bought Stardrops!
growing my own veg - well to be truthful, I've planted some seeds and waiting to see what happens.
using coupons to pay for my shopping (when the till person lets me!:o )
and generally saving loads of money :j .
However, I think I'm going to have to restrict how much time I spend here! We're talking days worth since I joined the forum. Last night I was reading Mrbadexample's first attempt at baking a cake. :rotfl: So funny, but I didn't get to bed till 2 (sure I ended up dreaming I was eating chocolate cake mmmm)!
My next step is joining the weekly flylady thread (working up the courage!) Here's to more old styling!0 -
Ahh. I've been away for the weekend and this is the first thread I've been into. Totally lovely one to start off with!
OS has totally changed my life too.
Good, in'it!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
