Any EASY recipes for a beef and/or lamb stew please for a s/c? I'm useless in the kitchen (except for cleaning it) but would like to make a stew whilst am doing other things and freeze it.
Thanks.0 -
There are a few listed in the link that you should be able to pick an easy one from:-

Having had my sc for 2 yrs now it has never been used
BUT I followed a recipe for a stew last week, and was well impressed
I did feel the need to use it on a day I was staying in though, but would quite happily leave it whilst at work now. Next attempt will be chilli. Thanks for all the tips.

I've had one since before they became popular
in fact I am on my second one after wearing the last out. joints are just so tender and casseroles never spoil no matter what time you eat.

Dont suppose you have any tips on doing a whole chicken in one then? I did the garlic butter chicken from the mega thread last night. And burnt it! Recipe said 5-6 hours on high... Think I did 7... ok that was my fault, but I thought it would be ok to do that in a slow cooker. Smelt very burnt when I found it. Looks ok on top but I'm guessing the taste is going to be well and truly infused with a burnt flavour.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Oh dear!
I tend to do everything on low these days. I think the modern ones run too hot on high. Still, you know for next time.
There are recipes for whole chicken in the slow cooker collection which I posted a link for just a bit higher up the page.

I never use the high setting on my new one. My old one didnt have anything as posh as settings!
To be honest I dont stick to any recipes. I just throw it all in - meat, veggies, splash of water/stock if its a roast more for a casserole obviously.x x x0 -
I second this. The slow cooker is amazing. When I've got a few different recipes under my belt (probably in the new year) I'm going to get a veggie slow cooking thread going as I'm surprised at how many different things I can do in it. I thought for ages it was just for stews, mince etc.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

I'm having another go today. Its in there on high at the moment, its had 40 minutes, I'm going back in to turn it down to low for the last 4 hours. Hopefully this one will turn out alright. The last one went to the cats who seem to be appreciating it.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?"
