I personally do care about contraception and always have. Some people don't, but people whose contraception fails are not always irresponsible.

Just to add, that of course, for many , pregnancy isn't the only reason to use contraception and it is important, and failures can be a huge issue for more reasons than an unplanned for pregnancy. Thankfully some of those reasons can be easily medicated.

Just felt that because I'm astounded at three methods of contraception ( presuming used according to instruction) that I should say I am pro contraception and think condoms especially should be in everyone's armoury sometimes.

No - women taking responsibility for their contraception will solve unwanted pregnancies... no, not just remembering to take the pill or whatever BUT remembering that no contraceptive (other than abstinence) is 100% effective. So, use more than one... they are both highly, highly unlikely to fail at the very same time. If you absolutely must not get pregnant - such as in the OP's case - then use 3 types of contraceptive.

It's about taking responsibility not whining about 'falling pregnant' and then opting to just end the life that you have created.

As to the 'loonies' who protest outside of the clinics... good on them.

If a picture of a foetus upsets the woman on her way to have an abortion then they have at least made her think about the reality of ending a life... if she is upset then she is clearly not comfortable with her decision.

No matter how you dress it up, you don't have to get pregnant (unless through forced intercourse which is not the case in this thread).

Then, no matter how you dress it up, you don't have to end the life of that child. There is a choice and I admire those protesters for reminding women of that fact.

3 types? I'm sorry but that's ridiculous and in most cases 3 types couldn't even be used at once anyway!

And again, adoption still isn't solving the problem of an unwanted pregnancy. If someone used 10 methods of contraception the fact is by the time someone gets an abortion the pregnancy has started so it's all a bit irrelevant!

And then there are women who were raped or whose foetuses have fatal diseases etc it's not like the protestors actually would know anyone's story ( not that it's any of their business).

Pictures of often half faked foetuses could upset women who very much want babies who happen to be going past. That's sick & just shows they have no real consideration for other people.

To the OP I think that in order to have a termination you should be 100% sure, if you are only 7 weeks and your planned method can be used up to 12 weeks you have some time to decide if this is truly what you want.

I did consider a termination but changed my mind the morning of the appointment (had had scan etc to work out dates - and have to say part of me was hoping it would be an ectoptic pregnancy so the option was taken away) I don't regret it, it's a decision everyone has to make for themselves but it is something that you do need to be sure about

I sort of agree, but would say that applies equally to the decision to have a baby, which in many ways has further reaching and more serious consequences.

If there was a prize handed out each year for NOT getting pregnant then I bet an awful lot more planning would go into contraception.

The OP was just using the pill and nothing else - the enclosed leaflet and a whole lot of info on the Internet would have told her that there was still a risk she could get pregnant.

She, like thousands of others, chose to take that risk. She could have used condoms as well... but, no, she took the risk.

I have a real problem with people not taking responsibility for 'falling pregnant' like it's a big shock that the pill didn't work... Why the shock? It's not 100% effective.

Now, a life has been created and will be ended prematurely... It didn't need to happen.

Depends on your definition... Would you tell someone who miscarried at this stage that their foetus was not alive?

Without any hesitation. A 7 week old foetus is not a baby. What they had was an expectation of life, but no life at all.

You can say that a foetus is not a baby but you can't say that it isn't a life.
