Its not helping the OP at all.

Theres no need for all this moralising. As I said, her decision affects her, it affects none of us on these boards.

    Is that to me??

    Thanks.
    I'm divided on it too.
My husband does not want any children. We can't afford for either one of us to leave work :( plus we live miles away from any family so have no support network at all here.
It all feels like such a mess. I burst into tears when I went to the clinic to find out the process. I jut want to make 100% sure I'm doing the right thing. At the moment I'm 95% sure.

Do what feels right for you.

It's your body and your life, so just think it through carefully and go with what feels right. It is no one else's business, although if you are uncertain, perhaps neutral counselling would help.

    Good luck.

    Lin :)
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

Don't I have as much 'right' to my 'pro-life' opinion as you do to your pro-choice one?

I can't understand how it is now OK to just abort a baby for financial reasons... I didn't even think that was even legal.

Pro-choice is what it says it is - for choice.

Anything else is ramming your beliefs down someone else's neck.

Abortion is never easy, but unless you want a child, it's often the best option all round, and they can be sought for most reasons now, including financial stress.

Until a child is viable outside the womb, it is a foetus only.

    Nope.

I'd say its quite obviously to the Cruella De Vil of this thread, ie Tiddlywinks, particularly if you read previous posts by PaulineB (ie where she is being sympathetic to OP).

EDIT: Ten of these cruel posts made by her. Let's just hope she's finally decided to stop ramming her views down our collective throats.

    from the nhs site:
two doctors must agree that an abortion would cause less damage to a woman's physical or mental health than continuing with the pregnancy

    http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Abortion/Pages/Introduction.aspx

I haven't read through all the thread (too long!) so sorry if this is repeating what's been said already, but it's about time the law was clarified one way or another so that women can either have an abortion on demand or they can't.

Anyway, good luck OP if you're still reading. Get some NEUTRAL counselling (ie not from a bunch of folks on the internet ;) ) and make sure it is YOUR decision, as it is of course irreversible once it's done.
  • I think a woman is entitled to expect that the Pill will be 100% failsafe. I had read the gist, ie that its 99.9% safe and it always always was safe in my experience of being on it.

Personally, I just took it exactly as instructed and expected it to work and that was that.

Though, I always knew that I would have instantly started arranging an abortion asap if I'd found it hadn't worked. I just never needed to do so though. It was supposed to work...I expected it to work...it did work.

Though, if I were having my time again I would insist on the same high-dosage Pills that I had back in my day and, if I had put on much weight as well, I'd be even more insistent (ie because of having a bigger body to drug into staying pregnancy-free (so I'd be thinking of needing a higher dosage again).

The one time that there was a problem (down to inefficient chemist having given me the wrong Pill after I handed them my prescription and I needed to take the next Pill that very day) I cursed the darn chemist for said inefficiency and abstained until things were "back on track" safely with the correct Pill. In hindsight...I should have gone back and told the chemist concerned what-for:o

In reality, women can get a termination on demand, particularly from a private clinic (quite rightly), but most doctors would sign anyway if lack of finances and reluctance to have a child came into play. The 'mental health' bit comes into play at that bit (stress).

To be honest, I have never known any woman be turned down, whatever the reasons.

Better a termination than an unwanted child.

But, as you say, the OP needs to make her own decision, possibly after counselling from a neutral charity.

The law is clear. As you say:

An early abortion will always cause less damage to a woman's physical health than pregnancy and childbirth - it's the safest option (14 times safer than childbirth in the US, apparently).

I think this might be the pertinent bit, but anyway, it's a bit late now, OP is already pregnant :rotfl:

But I do agree with you, it is very unlikely you will get pregnant if you take the Pill properly!

I agree with this too. When people say 'well the pill failed because I had a stomach upset' I am just thinking why did you not use condoms then, like it says in the instructions that you should do if you get a stomach upset?!
