Speaking from experience, as my first marriage lasted 30 years, we drifted apart, neglected each other, and gradually I realised it was over.
No 'villain of the piece', both at fault, but i just realised life was too short to live the rest of my life with a man I no longer loved or respected (he was very emotionally needy, and no support whatsoever - it was always somebody else's fault - usually mine lol).
When I told him I wanted a divorce, the balloon went up, suddenly I was the love of his life blah, blah, but nothing, counselling or whatever would have changed my mind.
I left, felt 10 years younger, and filed for divorce as swiftly as possible.
We don't talk, but our adult kids are fine about it all. I have remarried, he has a new partner, and we are better off apart - I should have walked years before I did.
Sometimes, it is just over, and the fact that one half of the marriage objects to it is neither here nor there.
If she wants out, then sit and discuss with her the most painless way to do it.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.
