Part of the Furniture I've been Money Tipped!
I've haven't read all of this but I can tell you that I have two kids, one of who is disabled and managed to get a first. I got this through hard work and determination.
  • A 2:2 or a 3rd or even a fail is never the end of the world. You might have to take different routes (Personally I'd rather stick hot needles in my eyes than go on one of those horrendous "graduate schemes" that everyone gets so excited about anyway), think laterally about skills and oppurtunities and perhaps work a bit harder post-university, but past disappointments should be no barrier to future success. I was initially upset by my 2:2 result in my degree, but I don't feel it has really held me back. In fact on a personal level part of me is quite glad I missed out on a 2:1 which would probably have led me along a more traditional post-graduation route (grad scheme, awful soul-destroying career in marketing or something equally hideous!) which perhaps wouldn't have suited me as much as what I did do.
Like anything, it's what you make of it. You have to work with what you've got. It's only a handicap if you think of it as one.
