    It looks like he's reached the expected stage (a long time coming this time) of conceding that we were all right all along, it isn't so bad after all and he will rush out tomorrow and apply for a job stacking shelves, see a doctor and snog his girlfriend just as we've been urging for the preceding 72 hours.

    Then he'll post some minor variant of the same question on a slightly different area of the board in the hopes of reeling in a fresh audience. I've even seen him on the Weddings board :eek:

    I think FunnyPhil must be on his holidays, I'm still waiting in vain for a thread about cushions or something equally absurd. Much funnier!

    I have worrked damn hard all my degree to the extent that the course reduced me to crying sometimes and I have never got stunning marks, so I think you are wrong there that you can just walk a 2:1.

    Unfortunately for you, university is like life in that you don't get marks for effort, only for achievement!

    There was a myth at Warwick University that two Chinese students got expelled for killing and eating one of the geese from the lake. They were caught when the cleaners found the carcass/feathers etc.

    i heard a myth at University of Bolton (and MMU when i used to be there) that a philosophy student had an exam paper and teh question was 'why?' and he put 'becuase' and got a 1st.

    And teh usual one about a couple getting intimate in a toilet and being caught by a tutor!
    :T The best things in life are FREE! :T

    I had to quit reading after a few pages. Jesus Christ do you whinge. I think it is your attitude rather than you grades which wont get you a decent job.

    I got a 2.2 degree in engineering down to my complete lack of 'get up and go' when it came to work and revising. Everything was left to the last minute and my degree shows it. Some people in my class left with better degrees than me who I would say were less intelligent than me but to their credit they put in a hell of a lot more work than me and got what they deserved. I fully respect them for it.

    From what I have read so far, you claim to be clever and have done loads of work. If you are so worried about what degree you are going to get then one of these statements is not true. Either you didnt do enough revision, or you are thick, or a combination of the two.

    In the real world, although a good degree is nice, it is not the be all and end all. I finished Uni, took some time out and then got a job at a big engineering firm and a year later am now on £30k. Maybe if I had a first I would have started on this salary, but I took the decision not to revise hard enough and this is the situation I am in AND I LIVE WITH IT. Once you have your first job, if you are good, future employers wont be so bothered by your degree, but more by what you have accomplished and experienced at work.

    Your attitude really needs to change. Why should everyone hand you everything on a silver platter? Surely you should be using the experiences in your life to make yourself stronger and a better person than those who havent experienced whatever it is you have gone through.

    My rant for the day.

    Similar exam questionat Essex;

    "Is this a question?"
    student reply
    "If that is a question, this is an answer."
    Also a first.
