Universities and the myths

It makes me so mad that universities live on myths that if you get less than a 2.1 that you are a waster. It makes me so mad because I have struggled all my three years at university with mental health problems and great loneliness until these past few months. I have struggled physical pain in exams and yet universities only say you get up graded if you are near the next class. It really makes me so mad that so many people have to go what I went through and yet everyone just assumes they are a drunk and stupid i you don't get top grades.

What grade did you get then?:dance:Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will. :dance:0

Most personal issues will only make 1-2% difference over a whole degree, so they are right in only really taking things into account if you are a borderline case.
Also from personal experiences at 2 top universities you are highly unlikely not to get a 2:1 if you put a reasonable ammount of work in. If you do work hard and don't get a 2:1 you obviously don't have a decent grasp of the subject you are taking.
All in all the degree classification reflects how clever and or how hard you worked - therefore is effective in its primary goals.0 -

I have worrked damn hard all my degree to the extent that the course reduced me to crying sometimes and I have never got stunning marks, so I think you are wrong there that you can just walk a 2:1.:beer:0 -
hey I have nothing better to do atm - I find it quite interesting that a philosophy student is unable to put together a decent structured argument.studentphil wrote: »I have worrked damn hard all my degree to the extent that the course reduced me to crying sometimes and I have never got stunning marks, so I think you are wrong there that you can just walk a 2:1.
