I just get so shattered of feeling so bad. But I can not escape it as my parents are going up the wall already because I can not get a graduate level job and god knows what they would be like if I had to work at MacD. It is hard to deal with the disappointed looks and sadness and bad feelings it creates at home without going a bit crackers.:beer:0

Talk to your parents and explain how you feel - tell them that the job at McDonalds is a stopgap to earn some quick $ and also will look good on your CV and teach you valuable skills.0

Hi there
I read some of this with interest.
12 years ago I got a BTEC HND (with 8 out of 10 units at Distinction level and the other 2 at Merit) I then went on to 'top-up' to a BA honours and only got a 2:2. This was in no way due to me being thick, unable to grasp a subject or other 'academic' reasons - it was purely down to a near break-down and I can sympathise with those that feel aggrieved! Exams are so stressful and if you are in the slightest bit 'fragile' then you can ruin everything because of 'externeal' influences.
But this is just my opinion.0 -

I suspect that some of the bad feeling must be because your parents paid for your uni education? ISTR you have thousands and thousands locked up in ISAs because you didn't need a student loan - give it back to them. Then they'll have nothing to complain about. Give them back the capital and 3% interest, and keep the rest of the interest - everybody wins.
Then you can start a life by getting a job, any job. And going to the doctor again.

I can not escape my family as I have no where elsle to live and it would cause too much heartbreak if I tried. To have some freedom would be a good start to my feelings. I know my family mean well but they have me down as a failure who has wasted my life and education because of the employment situation. It just makes me angry at myself even more so when I see everyone else getting on and being successful and all I have disapprovement and told I am failure and I have wasted my time. I just hoped I coud get a job that at least my parents half approved of and then I could make them pleased with me.:beer:0 -

It is not about the money, it is about me being a disappointment and failure to them. If you knew how they pulled apart any job I apply for with disapproving looks and tuts then you would know what I mean.:beer:0 -
So your parents would be happier with you unemployed?Green and White Barmy Army!0

Nobody said about moving away and I meant talk to them about how you feel and how down you are. Most parents would prefer a healthy happy child without a job to a suicidal one with a job.
Now get to the doctors and get yourself an application form for McDonalds. Or failing McD's (which tbh won't be as bad as you think and great experience) get yourself to your nearest boozer/offlicence/convienience store and ask about jobs.
