  • Hi hope everyone is well.

Sax11 you're doing really well, even cutting down is a great achievement. I knew of an elderly lady who for years smoked one cigarette a day. She had cut down from about 60 a day.

I go to the chemist tommorrow for my patches and co reading, hopefully it will be back down again

  • I am also back at the smoking clinic tomorrow. Sitting here drinking a Bacardi and coke and would kill for a ciggy but I won't have one. Keep strong folks we will do it

Thanks Naomi it's nice to hear a success story, I have done exactly the same as you and took champix for one month and then stopped them as they made me feel vile! I'm on day 10 today of no smoking and loving it at the moment, loving seeing more money left in my bank!

5 years is amazing well done, do you still ever get the feeling of missing smoking?

Afternoon all, glad to see you are all doing well still. Laurag89 - No I don't miss it at all. I think for the first six weeks I obsessed, they were all I thought of but little by little you stop thinking about it and all of a sudden it's been 3 months and you're wondering where it's gone. Sax11 & June.Elizabeth - I used to actually like the taste too so I can empathise with you. Once you do stop you will wonder why you did as I find even the smell now can be terrible. I find at work my coat smells as a smoker put's theirs next to mine on the coat stand and walking out of a shop or the train station into a gaggle of smokers is an assault these days. It's amazing the transformation. Shinner - my OH also smoked when I quit, he was a non-smoker when we met so I have always carried the guilt that he started because of me. Could you ask your OH to maybe go in the garden if he has to smoke? I was lucky we never smoked in our house so it was no problem. I also made a point of never nagging or asking him to give up. I knew from my own experiences as soon as someone lectured me; I wanted one even more. I agree with the poster who mentioned 3 minute diversions, they are exactly what you need. When you might normally have one, go outside in the garden/on the doorstep, wherever and count to 10 play a quick game of Candy Crush on your phone, go on FB, check emails anything you can. If you are in an office, try and walk around and say hello to someone (that's what I used to do). Allen Carr tells us the actual craving wears off very quickly and it does work. Keep up the good work all. Naomi

    Hello everyone,
Sorry I haven't stopped by, I massively fell off the non smoking wagon for a few days!! I went all out on the smoking! Felt vile afterwards and now I am starting from scratch again.
I have fully proven to myself that I can never ever just have one ciggy.................. its never just one for me.

Luckily I didnt buy a packet I was having my mums so I can fully stop without the thought I still have some left.

Feeling gutted with myself for starting again.

Well done everyone your all doing so well

  • Onwards and upwards Laura this is very hard but you will do it. My appointment at the clinic was cancelled today so I have to go on Monday now. Well this is 12 days smoke free and I feel ok but I will never underestimate the strength of those cravings I have to keep telling myself I must not have even one or I will be back on them totally. It seems silly when you know that it is NOT a nicotine craving because that has left your body the mind is a powerful weapon and we must learn to use it for the good and make it forget the cigs. Hope everyone has had a reasonable day today x

I'm fully back to non smoking, may sound odd but I watched a video on Facebook the other night of a poor little girl from America I think it was who has a brain tumor any day could be her last and her last dying wish was to dance with Beyonc!, and she got to do it..... She was such a happy little girl despite knowing she is going to die soon. That made realise ..... How selfish and silly that makes me for doing something that is going to kill me, on purpose when she doesn't have a choice!!!

    Keep strong x
