  • Sax 11 why don't you try to stick with the e cigs and not real ones. That way at least you will not get the dangerous stuff into you. I know boredome is awful, what sort of work do you do? Maybe we can make some suggestions to alleviate it.

The e-cigs , although a welcome alternative i can just smoke until the battery or the cartridge runs out.
Work in an office with a muppet of a boss who dismisses any suggestions to help the business grow, hence the boredom and monotony. Only up side is at the moment i'm entering a lot of comps.
Think i need some days off and away from the normal to break the routine.
  • You can buy e cigs that each one is the equivalent of 50 cigarettes. I got some from vapourlite. They are not rechargeable but disposable. They may cost a bit more but may help and they are cheaper than real cigs. Just a thought.

Hi there, I need to join this challenge - is that ok? I completely stopped smoking in October 2012, and stupidly, in September last year, had a weak point where I thought I could be an "occasional smoker. " Well, we all know where that leads.... My daughter (22) knows I have had a couple of slips, but not that I'm back to 8-9 a day. When she discovers I've smoked, she goes crazy. Yesterday decided that cigarettes are not worth risking my good relationship with my daughter, so smoked last in packet at 4.00 today. That's it! Last time used patches. This time, as I smoke secretly will have to give up secretly - so coming here to get, and hopefully give, support. I really identify with the gains and slip ups, and would love to join the MSE smoke free club. We can do this!!
(plus it will be a great relief to stop madly Febrezing myself in case my daughter smells I've been smoking. She has a nose like a truffle hound...)
  • Welcome mmy the more the merrier I say. My children also hate smoking but I am stopping for me and not them. I am taking Champix and it seems to be working but I know I cannot be complacent as I have given up before and did what you did thought I can have one on the odd occasion and as you say we all know where that leads. Good luck and look forward to chatting with everyone.

I stupidly let everything get on top of me a minute ago and had one.... after 2 weeks of being smoke free, it tasted horrible and now I feel completely and utterly frustrated with myself for letting things get on top of me to the point of pushing me to having one.

Don't worry laurag89 it is just a blip remember how bad they taste.
Sax11 have you tried a tangle toy look on ebay around £3.50 and really good to fiddle with.
I am now 5 days smoke free and to be honest I could murder a fag but I am trying to resist. Need to look for some super strength tape for patches :rotfl: I am going to be clogging the filters .
Hi to everyone and good luck.

  • Hi MMY welcome on board with us and good luck with your journey.

Laura it was just a blip, don't be too hard on yourself and jump back on the stop smoking wagon.

Shinner thanks for mentioning the tangle toy I kept meaning to look online for one and kept forgetting. Some of our kids in work use the fidget toys and they are great.

Sax11 do you have internet access in the office you can use freely?

Thanks everyone for your ideas and please keep posting

  • Laura the way I wrote that sounded a bit harsh and dissmisive not what I meant. You did and are doing so well, was that 15 days?
