Just tidied a cupboard and got rid of:

    * old plasters that don't stick very well
    * old batteries that don't work
    * handful of leaflets
    * small plastic drawers - for relative or neighbour
    * 5 x energy saving bulbs with bayonet fittings (mine are now SES types)- CS or possibly freecycle
    * out of date aspirin, tcp and pure olive oil - to return to chemists?

Small steps - but hopefully all of them going forward!

I have been mercilessly decluttering :D Yesterday I got rid of:

    Large rucksack
    Baby bath
    Baby swing
    Crib
    Baby bath seat
    2 bin bags of clothes
    Selection of baby related items

Still loads to go but many of the items were big and have made a real impact already :)

It is quite amazing that we live with so much in our homes that we do not really need.

I am still being really good at not bringing more carp in, especially having got rid of so much. So, on a frugal not, i painted a ceramic lamp base and shade to match the new colour scheme of the bedroom. I already had the paint, lamp and shade. Recycled and not a penny spent! More importantly, i didnt bring anything in.

I have now also painted two drum shades for the pendant lights, no more stuff and no spend!

Dont let on, but i think i may have got the hang of this money saving lark :)

  • I've done a bit clearing the papers but I think it will be an ongoing project. I have cleared out a kitchen cupboard though and put a garden chair on freecycle which is being collected this evening - can't believe anyone wants it but glad its not going in the skip.

Love having empty spaces to put stuff in - feels really good :T

Today I am "decluttering" a pair of kitchen curtains into a tablecloth and four napkins. The other curtain will be "decluttered" into two seat cushion pads for same table & chairs. Seat cushions will be made from decluttering a servicable duvet into two seat pads and a cat bed.

Getting there, slowly and one piece at a time.

Have a good rest of the day all - keep out of the weather!!

I've been slowing down of late, but today managed another 5:
    166.food cover - bin
    167. steamer - cs
    168. book - torn - bin
    169. old school trousers - cs
    170. recycleable fabric bag (full of things) - cs
Tomorrow - I have 4 bags to the cs, for a small while anyway my bedroom (where I amass it all) will look a little clearer. I've still a long way to go......
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

But you are on the way! Well done you.

Also remember, everything you donate to a cs will generate money for said charity. :j Two birds with one stone

I've been decluttering today, I have a binbag of old clothing items ready for the tip and I decluttered three terrible metal frame cheap wardrobe things into the bin.

Our house doesn't have a landing as such so we can't buy a ready made wardrobe as we can't get it in the room as can't turn it at top of stairs, we don't want to get a flatpack and build in room as not sure how long staying here and wouldn't be able to get it out again so we are using temporary wardrobes permanently. I have replaced these 3 awful things with a lovely wooden framed linen covered wardrobe and shelf unit.

I also have another pile of items for eBay, fingers crossed for a free listing weekend next weekend as I have loads to list and 62 active items listed. I have an ottoman bed so all my items fit under there so they aren't in the way or anything. Hopefully some more sales this week.

I am also in the process of decluttering my recipes I might try one day so I'll keep the page out of the Tesco/Asda/Co-Op magazine collection into the computer on a word document :D

Or get the online version of the magazine instead? I know Tesco do it online, not sure of the others.
