2014 decluttering thread (part 3)

Hi, everyone.
Firstly, thoughts are with you Sue14 at this time.
Having just discovered the 'hoarding' thread last week, I have now discovered THIS thread too, so will probably flit back and forth. I have only read the last couple of pages but it has already inspired me to clear a cupboard of 2 x carrier bags full of plastic containers for the recycling box tomorrow (if they take them? I know they take some plastic items).
I also 're-arranged' a drawer and threw out a few paper items.
Does anyone else cringe when they read about some of the items people have 'tipped', especially furniture? Or is that just me?
Can I just ask if anyone has a newspaper from 28th June 2014 and 3rd July 2011 that they are getting rid of, please? I have posted about these on the other thread but thought I should ask here too.
Finally, well done to everyone who manages to get rid of items every single day - I am not that organised - yet.
Will keep dropping by to glean tips and hopefully provide inspiration to others too0 -

We are being very strict with the sitting room - nothng is being stored in it by way of wall units or sideboards - they just provide a place to hide more rubbish! If they are not there then there is nowhere for things to hide.
Good idea :T0 -
Hello - I can post at weekends but I'm back to report:

An old stroller gone to CS
Winter coats have been put away
All hiking gear has been put in one location and stored away
I can see my utility room again.
Next stop my cleaning cupboard - 20 minutes tonight
1 shelf of my toiletry press in my bedroom.
I can only declutter things at waist height today as I've hurt my back a bit with all my vigorous cleaning and declutteringMFW Target Jan 2016 Sub €100k

Sue14 sorry to hear of your loss.
I'm back on the decluttering bandwagon - after reading the happiness project I realise that I need to make it small and manageable rather than big purges. So I've set myself a goal of 3 things a day to leave the house, every day without fail. I've set up a google calendar to record this, and anything else I do to declutter (e.g. list on selling sites or tackle certain parts of house). I've only been going 4 days but have got rid of over 50 things, without much effort on my part. Saying 'just 3 things' has really helped spur me on.
Today's offering:
* 20+ magazines - recycling
* knackered DD shoes - recycling
* knackered DD shoes (2) - recycling
* knackered my shoes - recycling
I've also 'bumped' some listings I had on a local fb group.
Decluttering now done for the day
If I think of anything else to declutter I'll list it in the diary for tomorrow as I'm not feeling great and need a rest.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

More purging here
1. Some old out of date medicines
2. Set of curlers only used once
3. a hair piece from when I was a brunette
4. Fake eyelashes (Many sets)
5. 3 tops
6. 2 scarves
7. Odd socks
8. some tacky old make up
I also found an old Barbie computer game thing that i'd taken off my daughter about a year ago as punishment for something. So they were re-united last night and very happy.
Nancy over and out :j

I haven't posted on here for a while, but I really need to rejoin and get back into decluttering our house, as it's getting out of hand again. Over the past year or so I've had to spend more time helping my elderly dad, and making sure his flat was clean and tidy, so haven't had as much time to keep on top of my own house.
I now have a bit more time to myself, but unfortunately it's because my dear dad passed away a few weeks ago, so I'm a bit numb at the moment. I also have a lot of my dad's stuff to sort through, which is in the shed and doesn't affect the house, so I will do that when I feel up to it. We had all his mobility equipment collected today, so that has freed up some space, and this week I have been trying to clear the laundry basket, but now have a pile of clean washing on the armchair waiting to be ironed, hopefully I'll get some done tomorrow.
Sue14, sorry to hear that your dad has passed away. Thinking off you.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Hi all  I'm new here (though have been lurking for many years!) but was hoping to join in with you all on this thread.
I'm moving out of my parents house at the end of August and moving in with my boyfriend. Unfortunately that house has less storage space so I need to try and declutter before I move (or hide the overspill in my dad's garage/loft one of the two!) and was hoping as you all seem to be doing so well for any tips ie to stop putting it off, be ruthless, which I'm not I am a hoarder, and any good websites to sell clothes or cd's/dvds aside from ebay. Should have some charity bags somewhere as well.
Sue14 sorry for your loss0 -
Sue14 -Sorry about your loss, take it easy, one step at a time x
I am also returning after a short break due to tonsilitus. Feeling much better now and have a bit more energy for some de-cluttering. I am going to take it a bit slower as I think the crazy rushing around is what made me ill.
I am planning on 1 bag of stuff to go a day, can be a very small bag or a very big bagI was selling on ebay but after time, postage and fee's I don't think it is worth it so everything is going to the charity shop.
This weeks plan is the paperwork in the kitchen, a draw full, pile on top of the microwave and some hiding in my cook books.
Happy declutering everyone.June GC Budget - 310/400

Hi, everyone
Not managed to do anymore this week, yet. Some of the 'recycling' plastics were left in the recycling box after collection, so I've had to put them in the bin.
Don't know if it counts but I've just had a wasps nest 'decluttered' from an airbrick - eek!0
