I now have a bit more time to myself, but unfortunately it's because my dear dad passed away a few weeks ago, so I'm a bit numb at the moment.

    Sorry to read that.xxx

  • I'm feeling quite proud of myself, I staggered into the charity shop this morning with four huge, bulging bags, containing :-

    180-185. Outgrown t-shirts from DS2 (who is 19!) - CS
186-187. Worn out trousers - CS for their rag collector
    188. Big stack of papers and old tatty folders - recycled
    189. T-shirt - CS
    190-196. Books - CS
    197. Cuddly toy - CS
    198. Plush football shaped cushion (why??) - CS
    199. Clean but threadbare socks - CS for rag collector
    200. Top - CS
    201. Football top - CS
    202. T-shirt - CS
    203. Trousers - CS
    204. Skirt - given to a friend
    205. Lots and lots of packaging - recycling
    206. Wellies (too big - my feet have got smaller!) - CS
207-208. Two pairs of PJs - CS

Can't believe I am still finding things to get rid of - one of my friends describes my house as 'minimal' - it isn't, obviously!

I think that the fact that I know that when finances are organised for the divorce I will be moving house is really helping. I will NOT be moving clutter and unwanted things to my shiny new life!

Hello everyone. We live in a reasonable sized house here, with a loft and double garage and 6 of us..... and we have too much stuff!! DD has helped me rough -tidy the playroom and we've sorted a huge pile of toys for selling (now sat in garage) - now I just need to get rid of them. I'm trying to apply the motto of 'if I was moving house would I want to take it' to things - and it does help, but there's just so much to do whilst doing all the normal stuff day to day. Am hoping to see some progress over the summer hols though :) x

  • Morning.
Haven't been on here for a while. And congratulations to everyone who has de-cluttered. However big or small.

Attempted the small (dump everything into) room. Can now see the floor again.
4 empty storage boxes have been put up into the loft.
Chest of drawers has been sorted out from inside the drawers and what was lying on top of it. Inside drawers are now nice & tidy.
Top of Single bed in that room has now been cleared and aiming to stay that way.
Ended up filling about half-3/4 of a black bag of rubbish.
One A4 lever arch folder was full of paper (about 10-15 years of paper with the dates on them). Folder now empty & binned. Paper added to the "to be shredded" pile. (Being done later today).

Well, we have been in new house for one full week now and I am absolutely worn out! I thought I was tired before.

We now have another eight black sacks of carp which I am hoping the lovely dustybinmen will take in the morning. This is made up of one bag of general household waste plus loads of packaging. We have continued the thinnning and, as we are finding and unwrapping things, the same questions are being asked: Do I REALLY need to keep this? Where is it going to live? Do I have anything else which can do the same job?

I have had to buy a new wardrobe & tallboy for the main bedroom as we had fitted in furniture in our prervious house. Once thats here, I can begin the mammoth task of putting away all the clothing and various other bits and bobs I am finding.

We are being very strict with the sitting room - nothng is being stored in it by way of wall units or sideboards - they just provide a place to hide more rubbish! If they are not there then there is nowhere for things to hide.
