Oh I'm on a roll, since I posted we have pulled half a ton out of the loft and packed one big box of daughters stuff to go to her house. Filled 2 charity bags of clothes and 1 bin bag of bedding and a lovely embroidered bedspread that I am going to give to an aunty. 3 pair of curtains which I am taking to work tomorrow for a bloke who has just rented a flat. Husband has taken 3 boxes of rubbish to the recycling depo plus an old TV stand and wood from bunk beds that we took down over 10 years ago and he was keeping the wood to make something???
Back in the loft in an orderly fashion and labelled are our spare duvets, bedding, holiday and guest towels. 2 boxes of baby paraphernalia that I intend to sell on fb or something
Oh and I found the curtains for my home office so they can be washed and hung up. Sorry my posts are long, I need a rest from sorting and packing and this will serve as a reminder to me of how much I have doneThe most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0 -
Well done jetplane - I need tackle the loft, I know there are boxes of DSs' school work up there (I am sure when I was at school, I never brought home all my books and work at the end of the school year!). Anyway, DSs are 19 and 21 now, so it all needs a good sort through ...... not looking forward to it, but it should probably be my next project.Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Bit more done today.
7 books to charity shop (still got about another 1/2 dozen to take).
Traded in 12 dvds & 1 double cd to CEX - got vouchers in return.0 -
Yet another trip to the tip today. New computer yesterday so hard drive removed from old one and put in safe place and casing etc disposed off. Also two very rickety stools that have been in the loft for years. Various large cardboard boxes flattened and put into recycling at tip.
Three holdalls from loft looked out and ready to give to CS. Going to try and freecycle an old but working hoover.
Every little helps!0 -
And now back to the loft ............ I may be sometime
Well jetplane, if it is anything like mine you won't emerge for some time!
I am gradually getting there having cleared the obvious stuff first. I am now at the stage I have to examine most of what's not been sorted yet as it is all photos, memory stuff etc.0 -
I'm getting there.
I went through the food cupboards yesterday and threw out a big bag of half used stuff that had been in there ages. I did a stock-take so I can hopefully live out of the cupboards for a week or 2 as we're not doing very well money wise this term.
Hubby also emptied on top of the cupboards which I can't reach. My kitchen is starting to look loved although I have a tonne of washing up to do!
I did my filing last night too so it's all sorted and neat in the cabinet as I also re-labelled all the files and put them in in some semblence of order! lol
I now have 2 bags of clothes to put into the boxes in the loft, and 3 boxes of 'stuff' that needs sorting through. Paperwork and laundry are the order of today though.Changing my Family's Future!! - Starting again!!!!

Decluttering seems to be never ending ... Been getting rid of stuff upstairs slowly to CS and the recycle centres but the plastic toys are still taking over ... As dd2 out grows them they are quickly given away but the landing is still an obstacle course... Last year I didn't buy one single toy except birthday and Xmas this year it's just toys for Xmas birthday gifts will be days out . Hav an empty boot today so will visit CS on way to school with a few things . It's good to lose the stuff when kids aren't about.. Is that mean? I have given away all my books CDs DVDs and other not needed stuff so it's not just kids stuff.. .. Have my eye on dhs kite and several other sporting related clutter;)No more toys til Xmas 2022 , mfw 2023 challenge , Trying to not waste food , time or money and appreciate the moment more!0

Hello everyone, I really enjoy reading about everyone's efforts
here's my bits and pieces for the last week or so
34 Out of date National Trust book – recycling
35 3 DVD’s – eBay
36 4 jigsaws – eBay
37 Batch of 20 LP’s – eBay
38 Out of date ointments and antiseptics – bin
39 Grill pan from cooker we got rid of in 2002 – recycling centre
40 1 LP sold individually – eBay
I also try to de-clutter on a daily basis, like making sure junk mail doesn't build up etc.
I'm relieved to hear that other peoples lofts are a bit like mine. I am slowly making progress up there. I get a few things down at a time, mostly because the things that are left up there are so big!:rotfl:
