Well, had a fantastic 4 days away but back into the breech! Three things put on Freecycle and two picked up. Two bags of absolute rubbish from the loft to the tip. Friend coming on Friday to pick up baby toys/equipment no longer needed for my grandchildren! High chair offered to someone else who has just become a granny!
Conundrum. Wedding dress 40+ years old. Married in registry office but I was one of the early ones who broke the mould from a suit. Before the days brides wore traditional dresses for the ceremony. Can still get into it. No-one will ever want to wear it. Do I get rid?
No,no,no
I got married in a registry office in the 70s and my biggest regret is never having a wedding dress. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
OK charlies_mum - will keep it. Someone else I know mentioned my toddler granddaughter might like it for dressing up!!!0

Definitely keep it. These things are heirlooms. I have kept my wedding dress (granted we only got married 6 years ago) with the view of it being gifted to be used in some way towards my future daughters (or as it will be now, daughters in law lol). Even if they only take a piece of it to use as a hanky, it will be their something oldChanging my Family's Future!! - Starting again!!!!

Keep it definitely... and I'm saying that being a person with a bit of a meh attitude to marriage, I never plan on doing it, and I fail to get excited over weddings, don't see the fuss personally... but I still say keep it...
My Grandmas wedding dress was bought as a surprise for her by her mum and dad because she had fallen in love with it but then couldn't afford it... 30 years later ish my mum then got married in the same dress. It's one of those things thats just been kept in a old huge trunk. Came in handy when the village wanted a wedding dress from every decade for the village fete. We covered 2 of themlol
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -
Right then, keep it is! Plenty of other stuff to go!
Problem is I am now getting to the sentimental stuff! I think photos just go back into storage for a later date, as do my wedding acceptance cards, birth congratulations for the kids etc. These can never go!
However ........... I have two huge boxes of photos cleared from Mum's house. Will need to sift through them. Loads of folk me nor my sister know taken in wartime. Think will just have to be ruthless and keep a selection of family photos where we can definitely identify people.0 -

You might want to investigate selling the old ones you don't want. I've seen them for sale on ebay, designers buy them for cardmaking etc. They won't make you rich, but maybe a small treat or two... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I am ruthless with photos. If they don't go in an album then they get sorted into 3 piles for the children to go into their treasure chests, and a 'year' envelope. If they don't make the cut they don't get kept. It's easier now we're virtually up to date but we got given 3 huge bin bags full of pictures by MIL and we scanned/copied loads and filled 3 albums!! Took over a week! lolChanging my Family's Future!! - Starting again!!!!

Gone yesterday, a big bag of plastic containers from takeaways. Straight into recycling bin.
Also 2 coats and 4 scarfs I never wear to CS.
Am disappointed with myself because I also spent an hour just moving things around because I was so tired I couldnt decide to get rid of it.Magnolia Stellata0 -

Just a few "bits" out yesterday:
1 x Picture - Charity shop
1 x DVD - Charity shop
1pr Footie shorts - Charity shop
I have found that this de-cluttering isn't just about getting rid of "stuff" its about me, my possessions and routines that suit us as a family.
Keep up the great work everyone :TGoodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75
