Love your description of your OH - I've got 'his twin' in my flat :rotfl: According to HIM, he's not a hoarder - he's 'a collector'.

Oh yeah, if he can give me an explanation as to the difference, I'd LOVE to hear it :D.

  • Have done some decluttering this weekend, broken dog bowl, 2 books returned to their owner, fishing net in the bin, couple of eBay items sent. Now up to 72 items. Makes me feel better.

All the items that I'd put to one side for the CS have now left the flat. I, personally, put OH's shirt on a coat hanger in the shop AND priced it :D.

Books went onto the bookcase, toys into the Toy Basket and the shoes (girls size 8 Kickers) sold immediately for £1.50 :j!

I braved the kitchen again today. And got to deal with an abandoned mouse nest :|
I don't mind mice, or anything like that but it does set off handwashing issues. Decluttering with OCD is both glorious and horrific. But cupboard emptied and refilled to clear the sides. 2 heavy bin bags came from it. And a few things to try on ebay... Do people still buy pressure cookers? I'm 24 it's my mums, I have never ever known it to be used... :/ (Actually I don't even really know what a pressure cooker does :S)
Also found some knickerbocker glory glasses, which they apparently received as a wedding present still in their box I didn't know we had them! They are not going anywhere I am going to use it as an excuse to eat a shed load of ice cream! :D

    3Ebay packages sent out :)

I'm sure you'd find a buyer for the Pressure Cooker - the only problem would be the expense of postage for the darn thing. They are usually VERY HEAVY - though you could do it 'for collection in person only'.

If you're not bothered about being paid for it, you could 'Freecycle' it or donate it to a local charity shop.

Long time lurker here...I don't post as often as I should, but I read daily....taking inspiration from you guys I have almost finished the dumping ground that was the shelves in my hallway....One shelf left to do this morning. Yesterday I sorted the rats nest of chargers and other random wires out, got rid of any for old phones we definitely don't have any more(6 chargers) and any that we need (or I don't know what they are) were neatly coiled, put into an old toilet tube each and stood in a basket. Now they can't get tangled and as I wrote on the tube what they were (if I knew) I know what is where without dragging them all out. Feeling rather pleased with myself!
    Happy de cluttering guys.
PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.
Now to start saving...it's a whole new world!!
  • Threw out all my expired-10-years-ago and never-going-to-use spices and donated an inaccurate but cute food scale to the CS pile. I thought I needed a bigger spice rack but now they all fit neatly.

This all feels so good - it's almost an obsession now, trying to make time to go through and purge more stuff. It's a new feeling, the 'hoarder' in me is gone - or at least on holiday!
