Hi, gill I have been trading in books on amazon recently and getting good money for some, might be worth a try, though the prices vary widely day to day so if you see a good price go for it! One book I traded I got 11.67 for and a few hours later it was £2! It goes the other way too, but in the interests of getting rid quickly you wouldn't want to keep checking. Amazon also pay the postage which is good for books which tend to be heavy. My best advice is try to handle each item once and make a quick decision. The space feels so much better than the items. Also try working round the room clockwise from the door, if I don't work methodically I go round in circles in the middle and wear myself out whilst also getting dizzy! Hope this helps:)
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -
Hi Gill!
Welcome to the de-clutter thread! Theres no rules to how you go about your de-clutter and you will find what works for you best, i read through the thread and then kind of took motivation from it and got started! Another thing that motivated me was the Obs3ssive Clean3rs on TV, although not about cluttering per-se but it was a good motivation!
I usually do room by room rather than starting all at once, then i have three bags ready, one for charity shop, one for recycling (just cardboard paper etc) and one for the tip (waste centre) and then get stuck in, it takes time but if you split it up like this you should smash the goal for June
For books i would try amazon, green metropolis, webuybooks and fatbrain, although i think music magpie buy them as well now. Alternatively depending on how much you want for them try facebook selling or on a carboot sale.
There's usually a gang of us on daily so we will be here
Hope this helps xxxSPC6 #116 £652.75

Welcome Gill
Books are a tricky one I find them really hard to sell, I'm a bit of a book addict so cant say I'm that experienced with selling them but the few duplicates I've had I have tried to sell and found very few are worth selling online because of postage costs... I have one currently trying to sell on ebay I have a duplicate, would have cost me more to return than I paid for it so on ebay it went 1p starting price but postage is so much it's hardly worth it loads cheaper I don't know how anyone makes money selling books on there
Specialist ones are definitely worth listing on ebay or selling through amazon (< not done this since they have changed the system though I'm afraid). But other option is maybe a carboot or table top sale something like that if you have the time?

Thanks honey! I'll have to see when I next have a Sunday off work to see if a Car Boot would be worth it. I don't want to keep them hanging round much longer if I can help it - I literally have hundreds! ha haHi, gill I have been trading in books on amazon recently and getting good money for some, might be worth a try, though the prices vary widely day to day so if you see a good price go for it! Ooh thanks for the tip, I'll have a look at some of them on Amazon tonight see if its worth handing them over to them.
Thinking about it, I get what you mean about running round in circles! My big thing is shredding paper - by hand!! I wouldn't mind if it was only stuff with personal details on it, but I found myself doing it to magasines and such whilst watching the TV the other night without realising - total waste of time!

Thank a million! June seems both so far away and so close ha ha. I work 4 x 12 hour shifts which is long and tiring, but then I have 4 days off so ample time to get shifting things really

Gill, the trade in option is only on items they want and not others, there is a trade in store tab as well, easiest way I find is to look at say a new jamie Oliver book and then follow the link below, hth x0

I have started to declutter and already have a box of items for cs.
I started to sort my dressing table but stopped after half hour of looking through loads of stuff.
Did throw one thing out.:T
I found a half used bottle of body lotion that was bought in a set with some perfume back in 1991. The perfume is long gone and now is the lotion. It had set solid in the bottle0 -

Bedrooms are my target for today. Also it's bin collection day so it's my cue to bag up anything that needs to go out in the wheelie bin. I have a good few things that at the moment are loitering waiting for the bin men to arrive lol.Changing my Family's Future!! - Starting again!!!!

I've had a funny old week - full of a cold, so not been going to the CS at all. That's my main place to take all my 'unwanted stuff'
................... but luckily, it also means that I can't be picking up any more 'UNNECESSARY STUFF' either :rotfl:.
I've also not been near a shop for a week - so no non-essential shopping has been done and we've been 'living out of the freezer/fridge/food-cupboards' all week :j.
No major de-cluttering done, BUT some storage boxes have been re-organised meaning that there's a couple of empty ones.
Managed to find a few things that I'd been searching for since moving here - I'd like to know just who thought it was a good idea to stash all my baking tins/cookie cutters/christmas napkins&tablecloths/party tableware in a box on top of the wardrobe in the spare bedroom - AND THEN LABEL IT 'BOOKS'!!!
Had the ingenious idea of screwing some 'cup hooks' into the batons on the back of my wardrobe doors - now got handbags/camera hanging up neatly instead of taking up space on the top shelf :j. Top shelf now holds bottles of perfume (out of sunlight and away from dgd1's hands) and things that I consider 'fragile/delicate' (fascinators and fancy clutch bag from son's wedding etc).
Keep up the good work everybody - I've not been posting very much, but love reading how you're all progressing :T.0
