2014: a selfish year

Hey sorry I haven't been commenting I've just found time to catch up
I TOTALLY understand where you are coming from.
I have put pay to a couple of friendships myself in recent months for the reason that I became invisable to my friends with children, I was automatically left out of even the adult activities - because it was concidered I "don't have anything in common".. so at a time where my socialising is on a decline because of friends settling down and begining to feel a bit lonely and isolated my "friends" added to it by casting me as an outcast because I "don't understand what it is to be a parent" or "everyone is in a couple"
I think its disgusting especially when I actively make as much on-going fuss of their children as possible and when ever they had a free night I would drop everything and be available. I'm also not the type that would be uncomfortable being the only singleton i'm quite happy as I am, I would like to meet someone don't get me wrong but I don't pine for a BF
Its not that I don't understand life changes beyond all recognition when you have kids but when you are made to feel like you are an inconvience or are ignored in such a humiliating way enough is enough! I am in the same position as you, my ex cheated and I have found myself starting again in my 30's at a time where I thought I would be having my first child...
This year I have decided I am not bothering with anyone that makes me feel inferior or worthless because I don't have a partner or children!
I know it sounds terribly harsh and it was hard to let go but I feel like i'm just going from strength to strength at the moment for doing it, I no longer feel like an outcast i've made some new friends and the ones that I have retained, are because we have an even sided friendship and I've found that actually I don't really miss those people anymore, they never actually bothered with me on reflection so perhaps it was just time to let go...
Rant Over!

Thanks guys. Yeah I totally get that with friends with kids too. It's like they think they're part if an exclusive club and the rest of us can't join in! Screw them all!!!!!
Mines not called couch to 5k but having heard otters describe it I think it's the same programme. Well done you - keep going!!!
I'm still frustrated I can't train ash gave cancelled training tomorrow morning as still feel awful. On the plus side, I've had another no spend day!
Got to go for drinks after work tomorrow night and irs with colleague I mentioned earlier - she's also one of those (despite earning a huge amount more than me but having nothing to spend it on as she has no mates) who airways hangs back and makes other people buy the drinks. I know it sounds terribly !!!!!y but I wonder what she does with all her cash as like I say, she literally has no friendsI want to be a writer0 -

What a pity you MAY have to be 'delayed' at the office and 'you'll meet them there'.
If she doesn't buy that one, be first through the door of the venue, telling her 'I'll grab us a table - can you please get me _______'.
If she STILL doesn't put her short arm in her long pocket, you may just have to be blunt and tell her she's cheap.0 -
Ha ha ha - love it! I have to behave tomorrow though and probs fork out as have someone working with me from London this month so suggested a drink as she knows no-one. God damn it! I'll try those tactics next time though!!!
She's one of those who, if we go out and I have a slightly more expensive meal or I have an extra wine or coffee I'll offer to pay extra and she always (and I mean without fail and without a "are you sure" or "don't be silly") takes me up on it. If it's the other way around of course she keeps quiet and we split the bill evenly -grrrrrr!!!I want to be a writer0 -
Omg. Couldn't believe it but we got to bar last night and she said it was her round! I almost fell over!!! Bad side is I stayed out and drank loads so feel awful today!
I really wish I'd not gone out!I want to be a writer0 -

Well, well, well - there's a first time for everything!I really wish I'd not gone out!
Chances are you drank too much to take advantage of the fact she was finally paying her share.0 -
Ha ha, she actually only stayed for the one she bought then left and I had 1 more drink with the girl we were taking out then she left but my GBM was in there so I partied on with him and got pizza on way home
Gave spent all day moving between bed and chucking up! Nice
But have got chatting to a guy on tinder and meeting him next week - he's really cute but only 28 - eek!
So def need to get back running tomorrow!!!I want to be a writer0 -
So, I hardly slept last night due to massive stomach cramps. Am so so annoyed at self for getting hammered on Friday as it completely ruined yesterday and I spent most of it being sick. Was finally able to keep some food down by the evening and had a no spend day as ate the pizza had picked up on way home fir but think that gave me the cramps!!!
Still can't run as this cold is just disgusting but hoping if lay off it and rest today I can go back to training early tomorrow morning but might see if we can do more strengthening type stuff tomorrow as opposed to aerobic and then try to pick the running back up tues (although may go back to run 2 mins walk 1 due to week off)
So had a no spend day yesterday as did not leave the house! But do need some bits like milk today so will have to venture out and think a friend wants to meet for coffee later.
Can't believe how quick the weekend goes. I've no substantial time off until June either as have a big case on at the moment which is going to trial in August so it's pretty much all hands on deck until that's out of the way
Get paid tomorrow and no idea what I'm being paid as not had salary review yet. As long as it's same as and not less than before then that's fine by me! Anyway I guess they can't pay me less without having consulted me first as that's a fundamental breach of contract (not to mention also a breach of mutual trust and confidence) and I could quit and claim constructive unfair dismissal. It's just a little worrying as have gone massively into this months pay already
Oh and sky box has decided to stop recording!!! Have had it for probs 5 years or so so maybe it's given up and needs replacingI want to be a writer0 -
Sky Box - here's how you do a rebuild (doesn't delete anything you've already recorded). Hopefully this works for your version. I wrote it down as mine stopped live pause and the ability to record either a second channel or at all. Give it a try, otherwise you'll need to call an engineer. However, every time I've done it, it's worked (and I no longer have to call Sky on a hugely expensive 0844 number).
On the Sky remote, press the Services button.
Press 001 and then Select.
Move the cursor to the right to #7 option (Sky Rebuild). Select.
It will come up with a message stating it will take a few minutes to complete, etc. press Select for this to start.
Wait for the light on the box to turn Amber (3-4 minutes or so).
Press Sky button.
Fingers crossed.0 -
Thank you so much!!! I'll try thatI want to be a writer0
